25. Bryn

Chapter twenty-five

Bryn

Izzy

Did you drop the cherry bomb yet?

Me

No.

Kinda?

We did stuff! Sexy stuff!

And, update on Peter. He was not great at some things. Plus, I told Jameson I like to take things slow when we were in California!

Izzy

*shocked face* No way. I love this for you.

Also, it’s possible he has a different definition of slow.

Me

It’s possible he will never know, and he will solve the problem for me. *winky face* *winky face*

Izzy

Still on Team Tell Him.

Me

Still on Team It Seems Easier Not To…

There is a “knock, knock” from outside the conference room I’ve been holed up in since arriving back in California three days ago, and I internally groan.

“You could just actually knock, Kyle. Then you wouldn’t need to say it.”

“Just dropping by to see how your day is going. I’ve been slammed with the marketing side of things, and I have a plan for the commercials that is going to be amazing. It’s going to blow your mind.”

I eye my plastic fork from lunch, weighing the pros and cons of stabbing myself in the eye with it. On the plus side, it would get me out of this conversation. “Okay. Great. The tech will be ready, so I’m glad we will have people who are excited and ready to use it.”

“I can’t tell you about it just yet—trying to keep it hush-hush until the deal is done—but I know you’re going to be floored when you hear about it,” he continues as if I hadn’t spoken at all.

“Okay, well…sounds good.” Then, because I can’t help myself, I add, “I’m sure your team came up with something great.”

A dark glint flashes in his eyes before he suppresses it with a forced chuckle. “No, Bryn. This idea was mine. All mine.”

With a final chuckle, he pushes out of the glass door, and I’m struck by just how similar he is to a Bond villain. Does that mean he just revealed an evil plan to me?
