I ’m trying my hardest to listen to Don, the former bar owner and current manager, spit random facts as he takes me on a property tour but after hearing him make another pervy comment about one of the waitresses, I tune him out. If I didn’t owe Liz a favor, I wouldn’t even be in this dump. I got too much shit to figure out including finding myself a place to live now that I’ve permanently moved to Los Angeles. Not to mention the catching up I have to do at Torres Entertainment Group, my family’s multimedia conglomerate. But my cousin and her friends had taken a liking to this place and bought it as a joint venture so now I’m here to iron out the final details. Which now includes staffing because there is no way in hell this disgusting POS is staying onboard with all the filth he’s spewed in the last ten minutes.

I shoot Ben, our new head of security, a text while we make our way past the bar area which is surprisingly immaculate given how absolutely rundown everything else is. I give the area a quick scan as I type notes on my phone. Pints and Twists will definitely need refurbishment if not a total overhaul. It has promise given how busy it is even on a Thursday night. That tells me that they’re doing something right if they have somehow managed to maintain a loyal clientele. My eyes do a quick scan of the other side, the club side, which is so packed that I have to wonder if they were breaking any fire codes. Having that many people squeezed in what should be enough space to fit fifty people but looks to be about almost double the amount has to be a safety hazard.

A text comes through interrupting my perusal and once I’ve verified the text is from Ben and that he has all the information I need, I shoot him a response to meet me at the back where I know the office is located based on the blueprint that was just sent to me.

I look around for Don and find him standing at the bar. I roll my eyes when I see the bartender hand him two whiskey tumblers. Like whiskey would make this unpleasant meeting any less unbearable.

I’m about to join him in the bar when a flash of auburn hair catches my eye.

What the fuck.
