I t took me less than an hour poring over the financials to realize Pints and Twists had been run into the ground. It’ll take more than a complete overhaul to undo the mess the previous owner had made. Especially now that he’s in jail and the PR mess that leaves.
Fuck. I do not have time for this.
I do not know what came over me and why I decided to take this on. I already have my hands full with my workload at TEG Studios . I have five movies and three tv shows that are in post and coming out in the next quarter. Not to mention I still need to sit down with the production team to pore over the thirty scripts sitting on my desk that are in the pipeline. Hopefully atleast half of those are good enough to be greenlit.
I’ve taken on half of the company to lessen Dad’s load and that’s not an easy feat. Especially now when we’re in such a precarious time in our company. Until Ava deems our European division to be self-sufficient enough to run on its own, I am in charge of preparing the company for Dad’s retirement and Ava’s transition to CEO.
Honestly as tough as all of this has been because I was never prepared to be in this position like Ava has been, it were up to me Dad would be retired already. Understandably he refuses to step down until he is sure the company is ready. And right now, he’s got more than enough on his plate with TEG music. It’s the core of our company and is Dad’s brainchild. He’s also personally overseeing our newly formed modeling agency that we set up to launch Reese into the fashion world. One could argue that nepotism is in play there but I agree with Dad’s decision wholeheartedly. This was the career path Reese wanted to venture in and we’ll be damned if we don’t use our influence to ensure she was safe and protected in an industry that preys on young women like her.
Which is why I need Vanessa’s help.
Normally I would take the hint. She obviously doesn’t want to see or hear from me if it takes me three weeks to track her gorgeous, annoying, hot as hell ass down.
But I’m a Torres, I can’t just hire someone to oversee my business. There is too much at stake and frankly I just don’t trust enough people.
The fact that I had to resort to having our security team find her, after I couldn’t pisses me off.
I couldn’t very well ask Ava or Ryder where she was. I couldn’t reach her through call or text either and when I attempted to see her at the address she had on file in her paperwork at PAT, I was informed that she no longer lived there.
Imagine my surprise when Ben informs me she’s back in San Diego, working at her grandfather’s bar downtown. He also informed me of a few other things that have me both intrigued and livid.
I didn’t even have to think twice, I knew what I had to do. Every problem had a solution.
Vanessa was not just the answer to mine, I was hers.
