Chapter 6

“Depends. Do you like to watch, playboy Demigod? Or is taking the only thing you’re good at?” Logan asked without turning around. He wasn’t put off in the least that a Demigod had broken in and positively seethed with rage.

Orion walked inside and slammed the door behind him, the sound thudding against my chest with finality.

After our last encounter, he’d told me sex was off the table, but he seemed to have as much control over his urges as I did.

Rage and lust burned in his eyes and I knew I wasn’t going to get out of this situation easily.

I was trapped with a gorgeous wolf shifter that wanted to mate with me and a Demigod that fed off of my lust and seemed to be losing control by the second.

This was definitely not going to end well.

I tried to twist out of Logan’s hold, but my super strength seemed to fail me after my expenditure on the field. That cold pit in my chest warned me that I had reached my limits, making me wonder if this was how Olivia felt all the time.

Logan grabbed one of my wrists and hauled it over my head, pinning me as he closed in and resumed the torture of his thigh grinding between my legs.

“Careful. She goes for the balls,” Orion warned, smirking as he crossed his muscular arms. His glowing freckles stood out in the dim chamber, drawing my eye to him in spite of Logan’s hold on me.

“She’s feisty,” Logan agreed, never taking his crystal blue eyes off of me. “The best way to mate a wolf is to pin her down so she can’t bite,” he said, then snapped his teeth playfully at me, making me jump.

“She’s not a wolf,” Orion pointed out.

“No, perhaps not. But she has the spirit of one.”

“Will you both stop it,” I growled, only to be silenced as Logan crushed his mouth to mine.

My treacherous body arched into him, my mouth opening to encourage a deeper kiss as his scent filled me and his lust welled in my chest, warming that impossibly cold core that I always neglected.

The rune on my arm burned with warning and it helped me to satiate my hunger through our Virtue bond, allowing me to feed from Logan without harming him.

I realized the importance of Kaito’s bind, because without it, I would feed off of any of my Virtues who dared to get too close to me.

That’s my girl, Logan whispered in my mind as his kiss traveled down my neck. Even if he didn’t understand the Virtue bond, he was a wolf. I imagined the mate-bonds wouldn’t be that much different.

My mouth parted when his sharp teeth threatened to bite. He could rip out my throat right here if he wanted to and that sense of vulnerability both terrified and thrilled me.

It made me feel alive.

Orion’s gaze flashed with arousal, although he didn’t move to intervene. Jealousy worked at his jaw and his fingers dug into his biceps as he kept a rigid stance.

Why was he here again?

As Logan replaced his thigh with his hand, working me with skilled, merciless strokes until pleasure exploded through my core, I realized exactly why the Demigod had sniffed me out.

He fluttered his eyelids as he drank in the power of my orgasm.

Our Virtue bond connected me to the god of sex tighter than any spell or magic he could devise on his own.

This was a soul-deep connection that manifested even at the slightest whisper of attraction between bond-mates.

Orion wanted me—that much was clear, but I knew that’s all it was.

He needed me to keep the Demis in power and to satisfy the throb that made his dick hard.

My eyes cast down at the bulge in his pants as fantasies of him taking me unfurled in my head. Logan lazily stroked me, bringing me down from my high as he watched me.

“You’re beautiful, darling.”

His words shook me from my trance. Had I just been fantasizing about Orion while Logan brought me to orgasm? What the fuck was wrong with me?

Damn succubus tendencies. Damn Virtue connections.

“Logan,” I breathed, weakly attempting to shove him away. This time he obeyed. Perhaps he knew my legs wouldn’t take me very far in my current condition, so I wasn’t a huge flight risk.

“Don’t tell me you can’t feel our connection,” he implored, those wide blue eyes searching mine. His messy hair fell into his face and he brushed it away. “I know you do.”

I swallowed as I sensed a whisper of emotion cross his thoughts.

I hadn’t expected fear. That’s why he’d been avoiding me this whole time, not because he was embarrassed to have mated with me, but because he feared I would reject him.

Since a wolf mates for life, I could understand his anxiety to approach the topic.

“You never told me how you accidentally mated with me,” I said, lowering my voice. Orion might still be able to hear me, but at least I’d give Logan some sense of discretion. “When did it happen?”

His cheeks reddened, which was fucking adorable, and he snatched up a pair of pants lying on the bench.

He pulled them up as if he’d suddenly realized he was naked, not to mention had a hard-on that made my succubus side do backflips.

“It was when we met,” he admitted. “You touched me in my wolf form and your magic brushed against mine. I could have rejected you… but I didn’t.

That’s why I was immediately able to talk in your head. ”

Whoa.

“So all that business about ‘courting me’ was just for show? You’d already chosen me as your mate?”

He smirked, that little bit of fang showing that gave him a mischievous look. “My wolf didn’t need a courtship, but I figured you did.”

“So it was for my benefit?”

He nodded.

Well, now I felt like an ass. “What if I had said no?”

His eyebrows shot up. “Does that mean you’re saying yes?”

“I… don’t know, Logan.” To be honest I felt confused.

My Virtue bond wanted to fuck him—and my succubus side wholeheartedly agreed.

Yet I couldn’t forget how he’d treated me in the cafeteria.

He’d humiliated me in front of everyone and then left me to fend for myself against Hendrik.

I was still trying to stay one step ahead of the Dark Mage and I could have used some help. Instead, he’d left his mate all alone.

Logan pulled me close and pinched my chin. “I’m sorry for that.”

I believed him and the sincerity of his words touched the bond within me, begging me to forgive him.

“Are you guys going to fuck or what?” Orion complained, although there was a jealous bite to his words.

“I promised Trevor he wouldn’t have to beg Miss Williams for another shipment of water bottles.

They’re getting expensive now that the Academy realm has regressed, you know.

Earth travel isn’t exactly a walk in the park. ”

Yeah, like Orion was really here so prince Trevor would be more comfortable.

Although, it was concerning to hear that travel to and from Earth had become more difficult. I made a mental note to ask Kaito about that later. It worried me that Dante wouldn’t be able to return if things progressed much further.

“The moment has passed,” I said. “Why don’t you get off watching someone else?

Or better yet, see if you can’t get it hard and take care of it yourself?

” I stuck out my bottom lip. “What’s the matter?

Does the big bad Demigod need Viagra?” I produced the spelled chocolate I’d kept from Olivia. “Something like this?”

The Demi leaned against the wall and grinned, unaffected by my taunt. “Oh, so you kept it on hand did you? That’s kinky, little star. Did you intend to eat it somewhere public?”

Logan moved to take the chocolate, but I snatched it out of his reach. “Hey,” he complained. “You can’t just wave chocolate in front of a hungry wolf and not offer to share it.”

“Trust me, you don’t want to eat this,” I said, then tilted my head. “Isn’t chocolate poisonous to dogs, anyway?”

He chuckled. “I’m not a dog, darling.”

“You kind of are. And quit calling me that.”

He made a grab for the chocolate again and I jumped out of his reach only to stumble over something on the floor. “Who’s leaving their junk lying around?” I complained, then spotted a hand waving from a dark pool of muck.

Well, that can’t be good.

“Nobody move,” Orion hissed. “That’s a demonspawn.”

“Demonspawn?” Logan yipped. “How the fuck did it get in here?” He moved to stomp on it, but I held out an arm across his chest. He could have pushed past me, but he gave me a raised eyebrow instead. “Want to tell me something, darling?”

Fuck, this was my fault, wasn’t it?

I looked down at the hand that was looking for something to grip onto. It wasn’t like when I had used the summoning orb. The murky surface looked thicker, darker, and harder for the creature to crawl through. Perhaps it had come here of its own accord, but what was it after?

My Blood Stone warmed against my skin to the point that I wanted to take it off, then I cursed. “Dammit, Hendrik.” This thing was calling demonspawn to me.

To prove my theory, the creature managed to haul itself enough to peek through and beady red eyes immediately locked onto me. It hissed as it flicked out a forked tongue to taste the air.

“I think the not moving idea isn’t going to cut it,” I said with a hysterical lilt to my voice. “Orion, do something!”

“You do something!” he shot back. “You drained all my power and prevented me from recharging, and now you want me to save you?” He scoffed. “Typical woman.”

“Don’t talk to my mate like that,” Logan snarled, then shuffled back when the demonspawn hissed at him as it extracted itself further from the pool of darkness.

I didn’t know much about demonspawn, but I had a feeling that once it was completely free, we were all dead meat.

“I have an idea,” Orion said, slowly stalking the creature as he bent his knees, “but you’re not going to like it.”

The demonspawn opened its maw, revealing serrated teeth as drool dribbled from its mouth. I grimaced. I so did not want to get bitten by that thing.
