Chapter 8 #2

I didn’t expect the manic grin that spread across his face.

Combined with his black eyes, Hendrik was downright terrifying up this close.

And yet, I couldn’t deny a certain thrill he gave me as tingling spread through my body, radiating from where his skin touched mine as he kept my wrists pinned over my head.

A sick part of me wanted to lick his lips just to see if it had the same effect on my tongue.

His gaze dropped to my mouth and he eased the pressure off of my thighs as he rolled his hips, pressing his erection directly over my skirt.

The thin fabric did little to stave off the pleasure that wafted through me.

“I fucking own Kaito,” he said with utter confidence.

“I know he’s been helping you hide what you are, among other things.

All I have to do is tell the Dean and you’ll both be sacrifice fodder. ”

My blood ran cold. Sacrifice? “Wouldn’t we just be kicked out?” I asked, my voice going up a pitch.

He shook his head. “There’s no such thing as expulsion from the Academy for a demonspawn. If she finds out what you are, then you and your accomplice will be going down.”

I tried not to let panic take over as black spots sprinkled my vision. “You have no proof,” I insisted.

“Wrong,” he said, grinning. “I placed a bug in his office. Although, it’s unfortunate that I couldn’t risk recording audio, that takes a spell someone like Kaito might detect, but I have plenty of video.

” He gave a low whistle. “I think it’s safe to say school counselors are not permitted to do the things I have on record. ”

“Sick bastard!”

I didn’t have to ask how he even knew to bug Kaito’s office.

The threads of our Virtue bond strengthened every day and I knew he felt it every time I was with Kaito.

Whether he was willing to admit to it or not, he was drawn to me and my other Virtues.

It wasn’t a subject I was ready to broach with him.

I didn’t trust him to somehow exploit the ancient magic that pulled us all together.

If he was using it to his advantage, I hoped it was a subconscious effort on his part.

Hendrik leaned in, his gaze flaring with desire. “I enjoyed watching you come for him,” he admitted.

“Did you jerk off to it?” What was I saying. Of course he did.

He didn’t answer, but his smug smile told me all I needed to know.

Fucking prick.

Hendrik had me, and he knew it. “What do you want?” I breathed, hating every moment of my humiliation. Even as he threatened me, I craved more of his electrifying touch and I squirmed underneath him. Knowing that he had watched me with Kaito only turned me on more.

Yeah, I was all kinds of fucked up in the head. If Hendrik hadn’t been one of my Virtues, I would have seriously been concerned about my mental health.

He obliged my unspoken need, grinding against me.

I was horrified by the mewl that escaped my lips.

“I want you to tell me what you are,” he said as he continued to rub against me.

His onyx eyes took on a hooded lust that told me he was restraining himself from going a step further in his interrogation.

“You can’t just be a demonspawn. You must have some other power to do this to me.

” He panted as his pace quickened and I bit my lip as he threatened to make me unravel.

“Tell me how you make me lose my ever-loving mind around you.”

I hissed in a breath when he adjusted my wrists, gripping both of them with strong fingers so his free hand could wrap around my throat. He leaned in close and looked as if he wanted to devour me.

I realized that Hendrik had been holding back from pursuing me, but now that I had cemented a second Virtue bond in place, the intense connection was driving him mad. “You feel it, don’t you?” I whispered against his mouth, delighting when his lips parted.

“Is it a spell?” he asked, sounding genuinely curious. “Because if so, it’s the strongest spell I’ve ever felt.” He flicked out his tongue to taste my bottom lip before gently biting. “I’ve never wanted to fuck one of my pets.”

Whatever allure Hendrik held for me instantly evaporated in that blunt statement. I was nothing to him other than another pawn. His cock was overruling his mind because the Virtue connection was driving him towards me, but that’s all this was.

“Fuck you!” I shouted and shoved, trying to ignore the sting of his rejection. This time I meant it and Hendrik was off of me in an instant, his dark eyes smoldering with need as he wrapped himself with raw restraint.

“I wish you would,” he admitted, his desire for me naked on his face before he schooled himself into a rigid scowl, “but I think that’s enough fun for today.”

I narrowed my gaze at him, not sure what kind of game he was playing. “Whatever,” I snapped after an awkward moment of silence. “Are we done here?”

He glared at me before taking his wine and kicking it back to finish it off.

The slight grimace that flickered under his careful mask told me he wished it had been whiskey.

“We’re done,” he confirmed. “You’ll finish charging the Blood Stone, and then you’ll uncover dirt on the Dean for me.

” He set his glass down on the table with a soft clink.

“If you don’t, then I’ll expose you for what you are and your life will be over. ”

“I could say I was working for you,” I countered.

“Your word against mine,” he said without missing a beat. “Good luck with that.”

A growl emanated in my throat and Hendrik snapped his fingers, sending the door opening with a rough slam. It’s the only evidence that he’s as sexually frustrated as I am right now. “Run along, pet. I’ll see you next week.”
