“What’s up, beautiful? Long time no see.” Trent’s eyes roamed Clover’s body lustfully.
Clover cringed inside when he spoke to her, especially when she saw the look of shock and confusion on Caprice’s face.
That messy bitch was probably looking for some dirt on her, but she was wasting her time.
Although she dealt with Trent once before, it was after her and Dash’s divorce.
She did creep a few times when they got back together but never with Trent.
Clover was curious to know how the two of them even knew each other.
“Obviously not long enough. How do y’all know each other?” Clover looked at Caprice when she asked the question, but Trent answered before she could.
“That’s my favorite cousin.” Trent smiled, but Caprice obviously didn’t agree. She gave him the side eye like he was lying and, more than likely, he was.
Still, Clover was surprised to know that they even knew each other.
Finding out that they were related really took her by surprise.
She couldn’t remember what Caprice’s last name was but she knew that it wasn’t the same as his.
That was something that she wouldn’t have forgotten.
She couldn’t wait to tell Iva and Irie what she’d just found out.
Clover had just told them that she’d been seeing Trent a lot more lately and she was starting to think it wasn’t just a coincidence.
First, it was the restaurant that she and Dash went to, then the gas station.
Then, he just so happened to pull up to the bank at the same time as her and it was starting to seem eerie.
Now, more than ever, she was ready to go and she was about to hurry Dash along.
“Oh, ok, well, let me go check on my husband and daughter.” Clover walked away, and Trent’s eyes followed her until she was out of site.
Lately, he had been thinking about her more and he always wanted to see her.
He’d been following her around occasionally, hoping to get her alone, but Dash was a pain in the ass.
He was like a fly at a picnic that he wished he could swat away.
Trent wasn’t trying to scare her off so he always played it off like it was a coincidence if she ever saw him.
He made sure that Dash never did though.
He tried not to make it a habit, but it was hard.
He just knew that if he got Clover by herself, things would be different.
He didn’t care if he had to share her, he just wanted to be a part of her life.
“Yes indeed, let me find out.” Caprice didn’t miss the look of aggravation that Clover gave her cousin. She also noticed the lustful looks that he kept giving her.
“How do you know her?” Trent asked.
“Our boyfriends are brothers. But I should be asking you the same thing.”
“You fuck with one of them hoe ass niggas,” Trent frowned as he spoke.
“Nah, Cuz, you got the wrong niggas. My man ain’t got no hoe in his blood.”
“Not you defended that clown, huh?”
“I’m supposed to defend what’s mine.”
“Well, I don’t know your nigga but, if he’s anything like Dash, then, he’s a bitch too.”
“It sounds like you doing a lil hating, cousin.” Caprice smirked.
“I don’t have a reason to hate, fam. I’m the nigga that she runs to whenever he fuck up.”
“I know you ain’t still listening to them lil voices in your head that tell you to lie. You better remember to take your meds, boy.”
“I ain’t on no damn medicine. Ain’t a muthafucking thing wrong with me!” Trent got loud, making Caprice regret what she’d said. She had to be mindful of what she said to that nut. He was known to spazz out and he didn’t care where he did it at.
“Calm down, cousin. I thought you were playing.”
“Nah and I don’t have a reason to lie. My moms is the one who handled her divorce. That’s how we met.”
Hearing that piqued her interest, especially since that’s how Trent met most of the women that he dealt with. He was probably too throwed off to pull a woman any other way. Now, more than ever, she wanted to sit down and have a talk with her cousin.
“Damn, I didn’t know that. This is indeed a small world.”
“Yeah, man, that’s my baby. Her and that nigga must be getting along right now. She ain’t been trying to fuck with me lately.”
As if on cue, Kardi came riding out of the store on the little rented animal and her parents were right behind her.
Dash kept pecking Clover on the lips as they followed their daughter to the ice cream stand in the middle of the floor.
Caprice always coveted the way Dash looked at Clover and she always wished that Monty looked at her the same way.
There was no denying how much he loved her, and she envied that.
“We need to hang out sometimes, cousin.”
“Do you be in that bar uptown too?”
“Dot’s Spot? How do you know about that?”
“Me and one of my boys been in there before. Who’s place is that?”
“Dot is my boyfriend’s grandma. That’s her bar. I’m there all the time and I’ve never seen you in there.”
“I only went once but I played the background. I didn’t see you when I was there though.”
Truthfully, Trent didn’t really pay attention to his surroundings. If he did, he would have noticed that Monty and Dash were watching his every move.
“Well, we need to link at the bar soon. I be in there just about every weekend.” Caprice tried hard not to let her excitement show.
“Shit, just tell me when and I’m there.”
“The bar is gonna be closed weekend after next. We’re all going to Georgia for a party, but I’ll let you know something when I get back. Give me your number.”
She saved his number before they went their separate ways.
Caprice knew that Sade was gonna have a fit when she found out that she invited Trent to go anywhere with them.
Once she found out his connection to Clover, she was sure that she would have a change of heart.
As much as Caprice despised Clover, she actually felt a little sorry for her.
Trent wasn’t the kind of man that went away easily.
Once he got it in his head that he was with somebody, nothing or nobody could tell him otherwise.
Dash had finally met his match and she couldn’t wait to sit back and watch it all unfold, especially since he was rooting for his brother to be back with his ex.
