Chapter 15
KLINE
I wasn’t surprised that one of us already went all in, making a move on Lola. And though I hadn’t expected it to be Bennett to be the first to kiss her, I wasn’t shocked. Ben was a man women couldn’t resist, but it wasn’t for the reasons others might think.
Despite being a big, muscular man with tattoos all over his body, he attracted women with his calm demeanor. The guys always joked that he had two personalities, and the wilder one came out whenever he was on stage. Ben was an incredible performer, and people were often surprised by how different he was on and off stage.
And for some reason, Lola’s demeanor changed too whenever she was talking to him. She had always been this open and extremely confident woman, always laughing at our jokes, and joining in whenever we had conversations. But the second Bennett turned his attention on her, she eased and almost melted into him, keeping quiet to let him speak while she listened carefully.
Not that she didn’t do that with us, but it was clear that Bennett had an interesting and different effect on her. With Leo, for example, she was more playful. With Watson, she held very serious conversations. And with me…well, there was just high sexual tension.
I couldn’t tell how the others saw it, but I noticed that whenever she looked at me, her eyes sparked with excitement. In a way, it was nice to see her have different reactions to each of us. It showed that she wasn’t just playing with us. She was truly interested in getting to know us, and each in the way we were. She showed different sides of her as well, and it made having her around so much better.
I could see her getting more tired the longer we talked, and after she had finished a piece of Leo’s chocolate cake, she had leaned back on the couch, with her body relaxing more and more.
“You let us know when you want to leave,” I told her, patting her knee before squeezing her thigh gently.
She turned her head to look at me, and she smiled sweetly. “I think I’ll leave right now. I wish I could stay, but I need my six hours of sleep or else I won’t function tomorrow.”
We chuckled at her six hours of sleep comment. Normally, people her age would need more than just six to function. We had learned that Lola was different, so her sleep habit shouldn’t have fazed us so much.
“Will you come back?” Leo asked, leaning forward in the armchair and reaching out to take her hand.
She placed hers in his and nodded. “Most definitely. Especially if you promise to cook for me again.”
“Anything for you.” He pulled at her arm and leaned in closer to kiss the back of her hand. “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
“It was amazing. And the chocolate cake was incredible too,” she assured him with a smile.
Once he let go, we all got up, and I watched as they all hugged her goodbye. They kissed her cheeks, and because he had already dared to go further, Bennett gave her a quick kiss.
Nobody minded, and Lola seemed to have liked it because she smiled up at him in the sweetest way. It came naturally to them, and it became even clearer to us that what was growing between us would be big.
Way bigger than any of us could’ve ever imagined.
I placed my hand on her lower back to guide her to the stairs, and after she turned one last time to give the others a wave, I led her downstairs to the front door.
“So you had a good time then?”
“I truly did. You guys are great. I’m glad I came tonight,” she assured me, smiling up at me.
I nodded and let my eyes wander down her body one more time to keep her beauty locked on my mine for the night. No doubt I would think of her until I saw her again, and I knew the guys felt the same. “We’re glad you came too. How about I leave you my number so we can text about a next date?”
“Oh, yes. Of course.” She pulled out her phone and unlocked it to open her contacts, then she handed it to me, telling me to put my number in.
I added it and my name, and after giving myself a quick call to have her number as well, I handed the phone back to her.
I watched as she put her phone back into her purse, and when she looked up again with those intense green eyes, I reached out and put my hand on her waist to pull her closer.
She came willingly, letting me hug her tightly before I lifted my hands to cup her face. I leaned forward, and before I could change my mind, I took her mouth and kissed her.
She melted right into me, with her hands resting on my chest, and her body pressing against mine. The softest little moan escaped her, and I deepened the kiss to get another taste. I slid my tongue between her lips when she parted them, and her tongue curled around mine.
The gentleness with which she kissed me was overwhelming even for a man like me, but I took it all in, enjoying every second of it.
Neither of us wanted to pull back, but I couldn’t hold her here all night. I wanted her to get enough sleep, and to not be tired in the morning. What I did want was to see her again, and if I overdid this kiss, she’d probably think I only wanted to get her to bed.
I did…but I couldn’t rush this with her. None of us could.
I broke the kiss and leaned back to look at her. The smile on her face and her rosy cheeks told me that she enjoyed it. I was pleased with myself.
“I had to get a taste,” I told her, smirking.
She pressed her lips into a thin line. “I have a feeling I will get to experience more of this in the near future.”
“You will, and not just with me. We’re all very much into you, Lola.”
“Good…because I don’t think I could choose one of you if I had to.”
I chuckled. “You won’t have to choose. I’ll be honest…this is new to us all, but it feels right, so we’re just going to see where things go.”
“I like that.” She smiled again and pressed a quick kiss to my cheek. “Thanks again for tonight. Good night, Kline.”
“Good night, darling. Get home safe. Text me when you’re there.”
I opened the door and waited until she was in the elevator to go back inside. I took a deep breath, letting everything that happened tonight sink in.
Sometimes life had strange plans, and while I thought becoming a male stripper was the strangest thing, sharing a crush with my three best friends definitely took the cake.
In the best way possible, though.
I headed back upstairs and stopped at the top. I looked at the guys with my hands on my hips, and we were all quiet for a moment.
“Are we still on the same page? Still okay with sharing her, or is one of you planning to go solo?” I asked.
They shook their heads.
“I was unsure at first if she could handle all four of us, but she clearly can. And she wants to,” Watson said, and I agreed with a nod.
“She can keep up with us, and she’s interested. I still want to give her time and space. Let’s not rush things.”
Leo raised a brow at me, looking amused. “Sure, let’s not rush things.”
“It was just a kiss,” I told him with a grin. “Right, Ben?”
“Yeah, just a kiss,” Bennett replied, smirking. “An incredibly good kiss at that.”
“Damn, both of you? It’s my turn next time,” Leo stated.
“Let her come to you. Don’t push her,” I warned.
“Bet you pushed her,” Watson murmured, sounding annoyed.
“I didn’t. It felt right, so it happened. Now, stop acting like jealous high school boys. It’s late. Go to bed.”
This night couldn’t have gone any better. Lola went home happy, and the four of us were pleased with the way the date went. We all had high hopes that this would become something big, and we’d give everything to make it work.
For Lola, because she deserved nothing but the best.
