Chapter 21

LOLA

The soup had been a good idea, while it didn’t cure Ben’s flu, it did give him enough energy to go take a refreshing shower before heading back to bed. Once he was under the covers, I sat down on the side of the bed, and reached for his hand.

“Are you leaving me already?” he asked with a smug but tired grin.

“I have to. But it’s the weekend soon, and after tonight’s show, I’ll come back here to keep you and the guys company. Does that sound good?”

“Sounds perfect. I hope you still enjoy the show tonight, even without me dancing.”

I smiled and squeezed his hand gently. “I will enjoy it, but I’ll miss your face up on stage. Get some sleep, okay? And if you need anything, call me.” I leaned in to kiss his forehead, then I got up and filled the empty glass on his nightstand with more water. “I’ll see you later.”

“Alright. Thank you, sweetheart.”

I gave him one more warm smile before leaving his bedroom and heading toward the front door where Watson was waiting. “He alright?”

“Yes. The cool shower was a good idea. I told him I’ll come back tonight after the show if that’s okay.”

“Yeah, of course. Come on now. I don’t want you to be late for work.”

Once we reached the parking lot, I followed Watson to his car. He opened the door for me, and I smiled up at him to thank him. Once we were both inside, I looked around and took in the beauty of his old timer.

“I like this car. It’s a Mustang, right?”

Watson looked at me with surprise on his face, then he started to grin. “You know your cars, huh? Yes, it’s a Mustang. It’s my baby.”

“Do all of you guys have cars like this, or just you?” I noticed that I never heard them talk about their cars. Not that I wanted them to. I wasn’t that interested in cars, but I enjoyed old timers like this one.

“We all have rather old models, besides Leo. He has a Range Rover. You know, one of those large ones with tinted windows. Kline and Ben both drive Ford Roadsters.” He looked over at me and placed his right hand on my thigh. “Kline also has a Harley in the garage, and mine is currently being worked on. Do you like motorcycles?”

Yes. Those I did like.

“I love motorcycles. I was obsessed with Sons of Anarchy for years, and to be honest with you, I’m still waiting for the day Jax Teller drives up to me on his Harley to take me far away from here.”

He laughed and squeezed my thigh gently. “Thank fuck he’s not real. I wouldn’t let him take you. But I get it. That show was great.”

“We should watch it together sometime. Unless you can’t handle me drooling over Jax for seven long seasons.”

Watson pursed his lips while his eyes stayed on the road ahead. “Might not be easy, but if you want to rewatch the series with us, we can. I’m sure the guys would like that too. That way we have an excuse to have you over every night to watch an episode or two.”

I laughed softly and placed my hand on his. “Sounds fun to me. Oh, you can take a left right there. I work in that blue building over there.”

He took a turn and then parked the car in one of the parking spots in front of my office building. He looked up at it, studying the blue walls before his eyes met mine. “Are you alone in that office today?”

“I’m alone most days, unless there are companies who rented one of the rooms. I’d love to show you the office, but I have to make some phone calls, and at two p.m., there’s a group coming.”

“It’s fine. Another time. I’m glad I got to see you before tonight.”

I unbuckled my seatbelt and turned more toward him with a smile. I reached out my hand and placed it on his shoulder, brushing my thumb along his exposed skin on his neck. “Me too. I’m excited for tonight. Thanks for the ride.”

“Of course.” He studied me with a small grin on his lips, and after a moment of intense eye contact, he unbuckled his seatbelt. He leaned in, with both his hands cupping my face, and kissing me like he desperately needed to.

His lips moved gently against mine before his tongue slid across my bottom lip, making me open my mouth enough for him to slide his tongue inside.

A moan escaped me, and I moved as close to him as possible, needing to feel his body. I wrapped one arm around his shoulders as his hands dropped to my waist, and without giving me a heads-up, he lifted me over to him, making me straddle his lap.

His seat was already pushed back far enough because of his long legs, but he reached down to push it back fully, and to give us even more space to make out in his car like a couple of teenagers.

I grinned into the kiss and moved my hands into his hair, loving how his strands curled around my fingers. His hands were all over my body, moving up and down my sides, and squeezing my ass occasionally. When he left them there, he pulled me tighter against his body, pressing his hardening cock against my pussy.

I rubbed against him, but I had to stop myself before we took things too far. I kissed him for a while longer before I pulled away to take a deep breath. I looked at him and smiled, running my fingers down his chest. “That was nice…but we should stop right here.”

He agreed with a nod. “You’re right. It just made it a thousand times harder to let you go.”

I pursed my lips, hiding a grin. “That means you’ll be thinking about me all afternoon until you see me again.”

“And you like the idea of that, don’t you?” He squeezed my ass again.

“A lot. And I’ll be thinking about all four of you.”

“That might be the first time I’ll ever get jealous,” he joked.

“Are you going to check on Ben before the show tonight, or should I go by the apartment?” I needed to change the subject and move off of him before things got heated again. Once I was back in my seat, I reached down to grab my purse before I looked at him to await his response.

“If I find the time, I will go. But I’ll let you know. I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you instead of me though.”

“Okay, just let me know.” I moved closer and kissed him one last time. “Thanks again for the ride. See you later!”

“Bye, gorgeous.”

After I got out of his car and into the office building, I found myself grinning like an idiot at what just happened. The last time I made out in a car was seven years ago, and while I was now a grown woman, it sure was more fun now than at seventeen.

It was hard to focus for the rest of the afternoon. I still felt those tingles between my legs, and every time I thought of Watson, I got distracted. But it wasn’t just him that stopped me from focusing. I was constantly thinking about Bennett, hoping he was doing okay.

If I could’ve, I would’ve stayed to take care of him.

Surprisingly, the afternoon was over fast, and at five, I locked all the rooms and headed downstairs to drive home. My phone started ringing just as I arrived home, and after putting the car in park, I reached for my phone in the backseat to see who was calling me.

Leo’s name was at the top of the screen, and I quickly slid my thumb across the bottom to pick up. “Hi.”

“Hey, sweetheart. Where are you right now?”

“I just got home. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, we’re just a little busy right now preparing for tonight. Watson said you would go by our apartment to check on Ben. Are you still up for that?”

“Of course.”

“Good. Listen, I need you to get something from my room when you’re there, please. A police officer’s vest. You know, the one we wore that time in the elevator. It’s in my closet.”

I pursed my lips, amused by his request. “You forgot your costume?”

Leo chuckled, and my heart skipped a beat. “Only the vest. Will you get it for me, darling?”

“Of course, officer .”

“Hmmm…I like the way you said that. I might need you to say it again later tonight.”

I laughed softly. “I might. I’ll be there before the show starts. I’ll see you later.”

“Alright. See you then.”

We hung up, and I hurried out of my car and up the stairs to my apartment. Inside, I quickly chose an outfit which consisted of the usual items. A skirt, a pretty top, and boots. I had done my hair this morning, and my makeup was still looking good, even after a stressful day.

I was out the door in less than an hour, and while I waited for my Uber to arrive, I texted Willa to tell her to meet me at the guys’ apartment. From there, we could take another Uber to get to The Hot Spot once I made sure Ben was doing okay.

Somehow, Willa managed to get there before I did. She stood by the entrance, wearing the same outfit as me, just in a different color. She was staring down at her phone, and that smile on her lips told me that she was texting Morris.

“Hey, you hot slut,” I said as I walked across the parking lot to get to her. She looked up and studied me with a grin.

“Look at us…looking as perfect as ever.”

We laughed and hugged each other tightly before heading inside and taking the elevator to the third floor. “What are we doing here, by the way?”

I looked at her and realized I hadn’t told her yet. “Bennett’s sick, and I want to check on him. And Leo called to ask if I could grab something from his closet. We won’t stay long.”

“Have you eaten yet?”

“Dinner? No. You?”

“I had a sandwich. You look a little pale,” she said, sounding worried.

I waved a hand and stepped out of the elevator once we reached the fourth floor. “I’m fine. I had a big lunch. And I had a stressful afternoon. I’ll eat something at the bar.”

“Okay. And what’s wrong with Ben?”

“He has the flu.” I rang the doorbell, hating how Ben now had to get up and walk to the front door. But I couldn’t have asked them for a key earlier. Our relationship might’ve been moving fast, but getting a key to their place was way too early.

The lock turned and the door opened, and Ben stood there in the doorway, looking rather surprised to see us. His expression quickly eased, and a smile tugged at his lips. “Hey, you two.”

“Hi, Ben,” Willa said sweetly. “You don’t look so good.”

Bennett chuckled, his voice low and raspy. He had become hoarser than he was this morning. “I don’t feel so good. I thought you were coming by after the show,” he said, his eyes locking with mine now.

“I told Watson I would come by to check on you. Have you eaten yet?”

“I just ordered another soup. I would’ve gotten something for you as well had I known you two were coming by.”

He needed to stop talking. He sounded bad.

“It’s fine. We’ll have something at The Hot Spot. Do you need anything?”

He shook his head and reached out his hand to touch my shoulder. “Thanks, darling. I’ve got everything I need. You two look gorgeous as always.”

“Thank you.” I smiled and placed my hand on his, squeezing it gently. “Oh! I almost forgot…Leo asked me to grab his police officer vest.”

Ben raised a brow, sighing. “Wouldn’t be surprised if he one day forgets to breathe. Did he tell you where he left it?”

I nodded and passed by him when he stepped aside, and while I went to grab it from Leo’s closet, I heard Willa continue the conversation with Ben.

The vest was next to a pair of cowboy boots, making me wonder if they ever dressed up as cowboys. I went back to the front door with a smirk lingering on my face. “Did you guys ever perform as cowboys?”

“Yes, we still do sometimes. Why?”

“I saw Leo’s boots. I bet you guys look hot as cowboys. You’ll have to dance for me wearing those outfits one day.”

Ben chuckled. “We’ll make it happen.”

With Leo’s vest tucked under my arm, I stood next to Willa again, and looked up at Bennett with smile. “If you do need something, just text me, okay? Otherwise, I’ll see you later tonight.”

“Great. Have fun at the show.” He gave a quick wave and closed the door, and I turned around to look at Willa who was grinning.

“What?”

“You have to admit…even when he’s looking like a ghost, he’s extremely handsome.”

I laughed softly. “He is.”

“Maybe on Halloween, they dress up as sexy zombies. Oh! Ben could wear a Michael Myers mask. God, that would be so hot.”

“Wouldn’t you be scared?” I asked, knowing how easily freaked out she got from watching horror movies.

She shrugged. “Yes, probably. But maybe watching them dance while wearing those masks will help me get over my fear of horror movies.”

“That sounds like a great strategy,” I agreed with a laugh. “You should tell them your idea tonight.”

“I will. But you need to back me up.”

I would.

Imagining four handsome strippers wearing costumes of my favorite serial killers from my favorite movies sounded like the perfect evening to me.
