Chapter 30
BENNETT
“I WILL MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP, SLUT!”
Not many things scared me, but Vivian’s angry glare and those hate-filled words made me fear for Lola’s life. We stood protectively in front of her, making sure that this crazy woman wouldn’t have another chance to throw something at our girl.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Leo was mad, and he was holding a fork in his hands which Vivian must’ve thrown at Lola. “Are you fucking stupid? You could’ve injured her.”
“So?” Vivian had her fists at her sides, with her eyes wide and bloodshot. “She deserves it! She can’t have you all.” I raised a brow as she looked at me, and with her finger pointed at me, she added, “How can you be with a slut like her? You’re way too good for her.”
“Alright now, stop calling her names,” Kline warned her, taking another step toward her. “It’s best if you leave.”
“No! I won’t leave. I’m allowed to be here. I’m always here! I’ve always been here and she has not! She can’t just have you!” Her voice was loud and screechy again.
I tensed, knowing that raising our voices wouldn’t help. That woman was sick, and continuing to argue with her wouldn’t be helpful. I understood that she acted this way because of me. Apparently, I had been the reason why she had come to The Hot Spot so frequently.
I needed to take this into my hands and make sure no one got hurt. Clearing my throat, I took a step toward her and gently pushed Kline and Leo aside. I knew Watson was taking care of Lola, so I didn’t have to worry about her getting hurt again.
I looked at Vivian, trying to understand what exactly she wanted to gain from this. Still, I needed to make her understand that she couldn’t act that way, and we wouldn’t let those cruel things she said to Lola just slip away without consequences.
“You’ve hurt Lola. Are you aware that you’ve just assaulted her?”
“She deserves it.” She stood her ground and crossed her arms over her chest.
“No, she doesn’t. No one deserves that. I hope you understand that you won’t be welcome here anymore. It’s not the first time you’ve been rude to others in here.”
“That’s not true!” she protested, throwing her arms into the air.
“It is very true,” I heard Elia say from behind the bar.
“Oh, be quiet you asshole!”
I raised a brow, holding up my hand to stop her from saying more. I was about to lose my temper and didn’t want that to happen. She couldn’t just come into our bar and assault people. “I have to ask you to leave now Vivian. You can go on your own, or we’ll call the cops.”
“Or I’ll handle it.” Morris came up behind her, blocking her from walking away.
Vivian turned her head to look at him, and when her eyes met mine again, they had changed from angry to sad. Her lips trembled, and a single tear rolled down her cheek. “But I don’t want to leave. You can’t make me. I’m supposed to be here with you.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Leo asked, sounding more than annoyed.
“He’s mine! I’m supposed to be with him, not her!” There was anger written all over her face again, as if she had flipped a switch.
“Jesus Christ,” Kline muttered. “Get her out of here, Morris.”
“No! No, you can’t make me leave! I paid to be here!”
“And you’ll be saving money from now on because you’re not coming back. Ever.” Kline was serious, but she didn’t take that well.
Morris reached for her elbow to escort her out, but she moved forward to grab my shirt, clinging to me.
“NO! Tell them they can’t kick me out. I’m with you! I came here with you and I will leave with you because we’re together. Tell them we’re in love, Bennett! TELL THEM!”
It was clear that she had issues, and still, we needed to handle this carefully. You never knew what went on in people’s minds.
I tensed and grabbed her wrists to make her stop gripping my shirt, and once I made her take a step back, I said, “Will you do me a favor, Vivian?”
Her eyes widened, and she finally relaxed a little. “Anything for you. You’re my man.”
Definitely not.
“Will you apologize to Lola for throwing that fork at her, and for what you said earlier?”
Her face fell, and she quickly shook her head. “No. She doesn’t deserve an apology.”
Kline muttered a curse. “Right, then get the fuck out.”
She started screaming as Morris and Leo took her to the exit, and before they got her out the door, she shouted, “I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE EGGS, BITCH!”
I turned around to get to Lola, wanting to make sure she was okay. She had her hands on Watson’s arm, and she looked overwhelmed and confused.
“Are you okay, kitten?” I asked, cupping her face in my hands. “I’m so sorry you had to hear and see all that.”
“I’m okay,” she assured me with a tiny smile. “I don’t think she’s well. Maybe she needs help.”
“She definitely needs help,” Willa stated. It was then when I realized that more people had watched this scene go down.
I turned toward the tables where a couple of women were still sitting. “We apologize for this incident. It won’t happen again. Thank you all for coming and have a good night.”
The women waved their hands and talked over one another, letting us know that what happened wasn’t our fault. They were understanding, and I was glad to have fans like that.
As they started to leave the bar, I turned back to Lola and pulled her to me. She wrapped her arms around my waist and leaned into me, resting her head against my chest while I rubbed her back.
“Are you okay?” she asked, as if I were the one who had been treated like shit just minutes ago.
“Don’t you worry about me, Lola. How’s your back? Does it still hurt?”
“No, it’s fine. To be honest…that fork hurt less than her words,” she admitted with a soft laugh. “At least we now know who egged my car.”
“And it won’t ever happen again. We’ll go to the police to ensure she won’t come close to you anymore,” Watson told her. As an ex-lawyer, he would make sure that justice was served.
“I really don’t want to make things worse. She was clearly unstable,” Lola said, sounding worried for the woman who had physically and verbally assaulted her.
“I appreciate how much sympathy you have for other people, but that woman doesn’t deserve it,” Watson said, giving her a stern look. “Forget she exists. You won’t ever hear or see her again. I’ll make sure of that.”
I looked down at Lola and smiled gently before pressing a kiss to her head. “He’s right. Let us handle this now.”
She didn’t look very happy about that, but she nodded. “Okay. Thank you.”
“Well, I will definitely not forget a woman who was rude to my best friend. God, I was so close to punching that woman in the face.”
Willa looked serious, but it was just too adorable seeing a sweet girl like her getting so fired up.
“Easy there, tiger” Kline said with a chuckle.
“Hey, I could really hurt someone if I wanted to. I did karate for years when I was a kid.”
“That’s true,” Lola stated. “Willa is a real badass.”
“We believe you,” I assured her. I was glad this situation had turned more light-hearted. We’d move past this, and once we went to the police about this, we could move on.
LOLA
I didn’t want to be alone tonight, but the guys wouldn’t have let me go home alone anyway. They were being extremely alert as we exited the bar, and while Morris locked the door, Leo took my hand and pulled me closer to him. He put his arm around me protectively, and I smiled up at him, thanking him silently.
“The good thing about this is that you have four extremely handsome men who protect you. You don’t have to be scared, okay, Lo?”
I looked at Willa and smiled at her, reaching out my hand to take hers. “You’re right. I’m very lucky to have them.”
“And you’re lucky to have me,” Morris said, grinning.
Willa let go of my hand and turned to him to wrap her arms around his shoulders. “I am. Even if you’re just one guy instead of four.”
“Baby, you don’t need more than one. You only need me and it feels like four men.”
We laughed and watched as they kissed.
I loved watching them together. Morris truly was a good guy, and I had never seen Willa happier. She deserved someone like him, and I was still so impressed that we managed to find them at the same time, and in the same place.
“Alright everyone. See you next week.” Elia waved at us, and we wished him a good night.
“We should head home now too,” Kline said. “Do we stop them?”
I looked at Willa and Morris who were still kissing. It didn’t look like they were going to stop any time soon.
Watson gave them a little nudge, and they broke the kiss to look at him. Morris raised a brow. “What?”
“Go do that at home,” Watson told him.
“He’ll do way more than that at home,” Willa assured us with a smirk. “Goodnight!”
“Night, you two.” I gave Willa a quick hug before letting Morris take her to his car, and I followed the guys to theirs.
We were home only ten minutes later, and while the others headed into their rooms, I grabbed my pre-packed overnight bag and followed Watson into his bedroom.
“Are you sure we need to get the police involved? I mean, what if she learned her lesson?”
He laughed out loud. “She definitely hasn’t learned her lesson. She got away with it without even apologizing to you, and I won’t let that fucking slide.”
I watched as he undressed to his shorts, and after reaching into his closet, he handed me one of his t-shirts. “Don’t worry about it, baby. I’ll handle it.”
I sighed and started to undress, and once I had his t-shirt on, I grabbed my toothbrush out of my bag and followed him into his bathroom.
“Okay. But could you maybe mention to the police that she’s not well? Maybe that way she’ll get the help that she needs.”
He raised a brow at me. “How can you be so compassionate toward a person who threatened to kill you in your sleep?”
“She clearly didn’t mean it. She’s sick.”
“Exactly. Sick people are capable of doing sick shit. All I ask you is not to get in the way of this right now. It’s for your own good. Trust me on that.”
I watched him through the mirror. It took me a moment to understand just how serious he was about this. I sighed and lowered my head for a moment. “Okay.”
“He only means well.” Ben appeared in behind us. He was smiling gently and looking handsome standing there in the doorway in only his boxers. “We all need to sleep on this. We can talk tomorrow if you feel like it.”
I nodded and turned toward him. “Okay. Good night, Ben.”
“Night, kitten.” He left after kissing me, and I brushed my teeth before heading back to the bedroom.
Leo and Kline entered Watson’s room, and I let Leo pull me into his arms. He kissed the top of my head, whispering to me how much he enjoyed spending time with me this weekend.
“I’ll see you in the morning. Sleep tight, baby.”
He left too, and I was left with Watson and Kline who I figured were both going to share the bed with me.
“I like how you guys don’t fight over who gets to sleep with me at night,” I told them, amused.
“We’re good at sharing,” Watson reminded me. “Come on, let’s sleep. It’s been a long evening.”
We all crawled under the covers, and I let Kline pull me to him. My back was pressed against his chest, and his arms were wrapped around my body.
Watson turned to face us, and I placed a hand on his chest, smiling at him. “I really enjoyed the show. That last dance was especially nice.”
“That’s good. We have a different show planned for next week. Actually, there will only be one show next weekend,” Watson said.
“Really? Why?”
“Watson.” Kline’s voice was stern, and he sounded like he didn’t want him to say more.
I furrowed my brows. “What? What’s next weekend? Why do you only have one show?”
“Don’t worry about that, sweetheart. Sleep. It’s late.”
Perfect.
That was a reason to stay up all night, wondering what they were hiding from me.
