Epilogue
Nate
“Hey, Nate, wanna grab some drinks with us?” Arne called over my shoulder as we got off the team bus in the rink parking lot. He dragged the strap of his backpack up his shoulder, and gave Bo a slap on the back.
“Can’t,” I grinned at my captain. “I’m heading home to see my man.”
I’ve got a ring burning a hole in my pocket.
Arne turned to Max and Nik who walked behind us, and I hurried across the road.
I jumped in my car, trying not to break all the speed limits.
It wasn’t until I reached the dark forest that I finally slowed down. I’d be in deep shit with Vee if I accidentally ran over a squirrel or smacked into a deer, and I’d be so pissed off at myself, too. I grew to like the animals living in the forest near our house.
My heart sighed with relief as I saw the cabin. It looked the same as it always did, hiding under the massive fir trees, with the two enormous windows in the front shining like glowing eyes, making it seem like a crouching beast.
As soon as I parked, a man with a giant mohawk and huge muscles came flying out of the cabin, making cute cooing noises that didn’t match his appearance at all.
I jumped out of the car and into his arms, my breath catching in my throat as I finally got to taste him and smell him again.
My mate.
As always, when we held each other after being apart, the Vee-shaped hole in my chest greedily took all it could get from him, desperate to feel whole again.
He whispered, “Welcome home,” then reluctantly backed out of the kiss, but his arms stayed wrapped around me, pressing the hard ridge of his dick into my stomach.
“Man, I can’t believe how much I missed you, Pecs,” I cried, unable to hold back the tears of relief.
“Missed you, too, Decks.” Vee grinned as he rubbed his feathery cheeks against mine. “So, how was Scotland?”
“Pretty good, except for one major downside.”
“What was that?”
“No hunky cock to keep me warm at night.” I moved my hands from his waist down to grab his ass, moaning at how firm it felt under his pants.
“Good thing you’re back, then.” He let out a little huff when I kneaded his glutes. “This cock can’t wait to keep you up all night,” he whispered in my ear.
“I said warm, Vee,” I corrected him, snuggling into his neck.
“Whatever. Let’s get you naked so I can do my job, okay?” He shut my car door and guided me into the house, lacing his fingers with mine as we walked.
“Before we call it a night, baby, there’s something I want to ask you.” I planted a kiss on our entwined hands and then dropped to my knees. Vee’s eyes narrowed, lust flashing in them.
Great, he thinks you’re blowing him.
He choked on his spit when I whipped the small box out of the inner pocket of my jacket.
“Hey Vee, guess what else went down in Scotland? I realised I can’t stand another day without you being officially mine. And then I stumbled upon this adorable shop in Pear Mill where I found this.”
I let go of his hand and popped the lid open to show him what was inside.
“Little did I know that setting that trap would turn out to be the best decision I ever made. Vee, you’re everything to me.
You are my north star, my home, and I,” I took a deep breath, freaking out only a little.
“Holy shit, Vee, I love you like crazy, and I want you to be my husband. Will you marry me?”
The room was dim, so it was difficult to make out his expression, and he didn’t say anything for a long moment.
Shit, he’s not interested in marrying me.
Then Vee cocked his head and gave me a little smirk. The knot in my chest loosened.
He’s the cutest.
He sat down on the couch, leaned in close, and pulled out a little velvet box from the coffee table drawer. Like before, he didn’t say anything, just opened it and showed me what was inside. A plain ring—almost identical to the one I had in my hand—sat on the velvet cushion.
“So, is that a ‘yes,’ Pecs?” I whispered, trying to read his expression.
Two pearly tears slid out of his beautiful eyes. “Of course it is a ‘yes,’ Frat Boy.” They turned into a steady stream when I took the ring out and slipped it on his finger, and he did the same.
“I’ll take it back, Vee. The trap was not the best idea I’ve had.” I interlaced our fingers, the rings making a tiny clicking sound when they met. “This is.”
The End
