Epilogue
Wren
Heat spread through my body as the midday sun beat down on my exposed skin. My entire body felt boneless as I listened to the crashing of the waves and had no responsibilities or places to be.
A lot had happened in the six months since I was officially relieved of my duties as a coalition agent.
For starters, I'd packed up the few belongings I had and moved into Kingston's house.
The new house all four of us would share was in the process of being built and I couldn't wait to make it our home.
A scream came from the water, and I nearly jumped out of my skin as I jolted up from the comfortable lounger I'd been snoozing on.
"Oh, come on, Zayn! It was just a fish or seaweed!" Sullivan rose from the water, his body sparkling with water drops as he followed Zayn.
"No! I trusted you!" Zayn was trudging out of the ocean, his face masked in fury.
We'd been on the private island for a few days now and it was the first time someone had convinced him to go in the water. Looked like he'd be staying on the boat when we went snorkeling soon.
"Ready for the first drink of the day?" Kingston handed me a delicious-looking drink in a whole pineapple and put a tray on the little table between loungers. "It's made with fresh pineapples."
I took a sip of the drink and moaned as the sweet flavor hit my taste buds. "This is really fucking good."
"Keep moaning like that and I'll show you really fucking good." Kingston sat back on his lounger and sipped his own drink.
Zayn stomped across the sand and plopped down on the end of my seat. "I'm never going in the ocean again. Why couldn't we go to Antarctica?"
"No one except you wants to go there." Kingston adjusted his baseball cap and glasses before resting his head back, his pineapple held on his chest. "Sharks aren't going to want to eat you, Zayn."
"You don't know that. They could be out there thinking about how delicious our wolf essence smells floating through the water." Zayn crawled over me and grabbed one of the drinks on the table. "Hi, beautiful."
I sighed as he kissed me and gently nipped at my lower lip. "You and Sully were up early this morning."
Sullivan took his drink and sat on the sand between the two loungers. "Ten o'clock isn't early. I needed to call and check in on my brother."
My heart sped up a bit. Apollo had finally woken from his stasis a week ago and had gone straight to Maine like he said he would. Of course, Jonah was stubborn and hadn't called to tell Sullivan he'd had a visitor until after it had happened.
"How is he?" I was almost scared to ask. It wasn't like he could suddenly run or shift.
"He has full movement back." Sullivan teared up and Kingston put a hand on his shoulder.
"He's going to start physical therapy in a few days.
He thinks he feels his wolf stirring inside him too, but since he's never shifted before, he said he wasn't sure if it was the burrito he ate last night for dinner. "
I snorted back a laugh, my own tears blurring my vision. "That's such great news."
"It's because of you." Sullivan grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. "And to think I almost let my wolf rip you to shreds and eat you."
"It hasn't stopped you from eating her in a different way." Zayn wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and held up his pineapple. "Let's toast."
"To what? Wren's tasty cake?" Sullivan grunted, Kingston flicking his ear. "Are you saying it's not tasty, your highness?"
Some weird look passed between the three of them and I sat up, pushing my glasses on top of my head. "What was that look for?"
"What look? There wasn't a look." Zayn still had his pineapple raised, and a bit sloshed out onto his hand. "Oh, damn it."
"We have something we want to ask you." Kingston scooted to the edge of his lounger, his hand digging into his pocket.
I set my pineapple down on the table before clasping my hands in my lap. He pulled out a black ring box and my heart threatened to beat out of my chest.
How was this going to work? He couldn't just ask me to marry him. What about Zayn and Sullivan?
Zayn took my hand. "Wrenny. We know this relationship of ours isn't traditional in any way, but we want you to have anything and everything you could ever want."
A tear dripped down my cheek and he kissed it away before moving down to the sand to get on one knee along with Sullivan and Kingston.
I was trembling with a hundred different emotions and the tears kept coming. Was I supposed to stand? How was I going to be able to marry all of them? Hell, we could just do it unofficially.
Kingston opened the box to reveal the most perfect, beautiful ring with three small stones across the band. "You took three lost men and gave us someone to love and fight for. Marry us?"
"Yes!" It was the only thing I could manage to say through my tears.
I held out my shaky hand, and Sullivan slid the ring on my finger. "We love you, Wren Carter."
And I loved my wolves more than I ever thought I could.
What happened to Sullivan’s brother, Jonah?
