Chapter 38
Chapter Thirty-Eight
Leon
Getting the kids a puppy had been a bit of an impulse decision.
I’d thought about it, of course, considering the boys’ ages and how hectic things have been but also how much they could use something good in their lives.
A pet is a big responsibility but I have the resources and ability to make it less daunting.
“So, a puppy, huh?” Katya asks, nodding to where Princess Spaghetti has curled up in one of her many new beds, basking in the heat of the fireplace as she snoozes. “Things are going to get hectic around here, you know? Puppies don’t sleep through the night, do they?”
The living room is lit up with orange hues of firelight and small lamps, creating an edge of coziness to surround us as my wife joins me on the couch.
We both changed into our night clothes after the boys’ bedtime, but neither of us made any move to go to bed ourselves.
We didn’t need to communicate our desire to spend time together, either.
Gravitating to the main sitting room like magnets, we found our way together effortlessly.
“They start to as they get older,” I reply, making no attempt to hide my eyes wandering down her frame.
She’s wearing pajama shorts this time, rather than pants, and a smaller tank top that could be considered indecent in some settings.
The red silk fabric looks so soft that I almost reach out to touch it.
“But you don’t need to worry about that. ”
“Oh?” She arches an eyebrow in question. “Are you going to be waking up with her?”
“I wouldn’t mind,” I inform her seriously. “But no. Relying on me alone to make sure she’s okay at night wouldn’t be wise with the amount of times I have to run out of the house. That would just result in you having to do it anyway.”
“I also wouldn’t mind,” Katya says with a small smile. “The boys adore her already. I could handle a few weeks or months with interrupted sleep to see them so happy.”
My heart gives a funny beat, and I almost lift my hand up to rub it.
“That’s sweet but unnecessary, baby. The night shift guards have already agreed to look after her.
They’ll take her out to the security shack if she’s bursting with energy or stay in here if she’s sleeping in case she needs to get up and go pee. ”
My wife pops her lips open, shock stunning her. “Seriously?”
I chuckle, shaking my head at how fucking cute she can be without even trying.
“Don’t seem so surprised, Katya. Guard duty is an important and honorable position but it can be boring as hell.
Most of these guys have families or pets of their own in one way or another.
Looking after a cute little puppy while we sleep isn’t a burden for them.
Some of them are actually excited for the change of pace. ”
She exhales through a laugh. “You really thought of everything, huh?”
I tried to, at least.
Bastian and Leo aren’t old enough to put all of the obligations of puppy care in their hands, and I never had any intention of doing so.
Katya, by contrast, is an adult and perfectly able to take care of a pet if she was so inclined, but I didn’t buy a tiny hyper pee-machine to make her life more difficult either.
She already does so much around the house, none of which goes unnoticed by me.
So yes, I made sure to plan how the little rascal would be looked after before bringing her home.
“Not everything,” I reply with an awkward chuckle. “I didn’t give you a heads up before springing it on you. I know we discussed it briefly, but—”
“I’m glad I got to be surprised with the kids,” she interrupts, putting a hand on my thigh to stop my sentence. “It was a very sweet moment, bohatstvo.“
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” she replies, voice dropping an octave. “Before you told me about the guards helping out, I was going to joke that waking up with the puppy would be good practice.”
“Practice?” I echo, tilting my head.
A flush rises on the apples of her cheeks and she dips her head. “If we were to have…you know. For the future when we have a baby. If you still wan—”
Something primal possesses me, hearing her implication.
I can’t even allow her to finish speaking before I grab her softly around the neck and pull her lips into mine in a fiery crash.
Her throat vibrates with a whimper, the sound catching underneath my hand and eventually shaking against my mouth.
She leans into me like it’s the most natural thing in the world, accepting my advance by softening and seeking my kiss with her own.
Pulling back to speak, I almost growl at myself for losing her taste only moments after having it. “I still want,” I inform her with a rasp. “The idea of you being pregnant with our child…you have no idea how much I want that.”
Katya’s eyes go round and she moans as I pepper kisses around her jaw and then down to her throat.
“I wanted to bring it up,” she gasps, melting at every touch.
“Because we never talked about the logistics of taking the next steps before and I’m not on birth control.
I—” She swallows and I feel it against my lips.
“I know you said we would be waiting a while to give the boys time to adjust. I’ve just never taken it before, so I didn’t know what to do. Do you want me to go to the doctor?”
No.
The answer burns inside me so intensely that I’m surprised I haven’t yelled it.
“Do you want to go to the doctor?”
Katya bites her lip, too shy to answer as she sways her head from side to side, letting the action speak for her.
“Then no doctor,” I tell her, holding back a smile of victory. “If it happens for us before we’re ready, we’ll have nine months to get ready.”
“God, why is that so exciting?” She squeezes my thigh with one hand and uses the other to lift herself from the couch.
She doesn’t get up though. No, she swings her leg over my waist and plants herself in my lap like it’s the most natural movement in the world.
“We’d make such a beautiful sibling for our boys, don’t you think? ”
There it is again. Katya calling my sons ours.
“If I knew you’d react so positively I would have brought a puppy home sooner,” I tease, though it’s not entirely in jest. I’d do just about anything to get my wife in this position and the concept of baby making on her mind.
I never thought I would be so turned on by the concept, given that making Bastian was a cold and uncomfortable affair.
Worth every single moment, of course. But it was never passionate like I think it will be with Katya.
The desire burning between the two of us is undeniable, and if last night is any indication, our chemistry is unquestionable.
She smiles, warm and beautiful. “What made you decide today of all days?”
“It’s been in my mind since Leo asked you for a puppy, but we used dogs the other night for…
work. I don’t know, I guess it brought the idea to the forefront.
” Despite the dogs from work being big, deadly, fully grown hounds, I couldn’t help but think of the complete opposite when I was done with them.
A tiny, family-friendly breed with soft fur and a gentle soul that would bring fun into the house.
“There’s a shelter not far from here that rescues from puppy mills and backyard breeders a lot.
Princess Spaghetti was one of them, and she was the first one to run up to me when I walked in. It reminded me of Leo.”
“You’re such a sweet father,” Katya tells me, suddenly lowering her face to hover her lips above mine. “It does things to me, you know that? Seeing the man I married be so paternal and caring. I never expected that it would affect me so much.”
“Is that right?” I ask, feeling my cock stir to life underneath the band of my sweatpants.
She looks down at my lap, feeling my groin stiffen and sits down harder. Her knees sink deeper into the couch and she looks back into my eyes, a small smirk playing on her lips. “I think you should show me your bedroom now, Leon.”
Not needing to be told twice, my arms snake underneath the back of her legs and I pull her close as I stand up from the couch. The rapid movement pulls a squeak out of Katya as she surges forward to wrap her arms around my shoulders and back.
If she wants to see my room, I’ll carry her there myself.
“Leon,” she gasps, her dull fingertips digging into the back of my neck. “I can walk, you know?”
“But if you walked, I wouldn’t be able to feel you like this,” I counter, grabbing her ass and pulling her against the bulge in my pants. The heat between her legs calls to me, and I smack a wet kiss to her lips before she can try and protest. “And I’ll get us there faster. Hold on, tesoro.”
She melts into the kiss and then tucks her head into my neck, holding on tight as I jog up the stairs.
Bouncing from step to step, her tits rub against my chest and wind me up even further.
Her shirt is so thin and soft that I can feel her nipples as they harden, reminding me that I’ve yet to put them in my mouth.
A travesty I’ll be sure to rectify quickly.
“Are you sure your room is soundproof?” she whispers against the side of my throat. Her lips press into a gentle kiss, punctuating her question and making me fucking shiver.
“I’m sure,” I grit out, finally making it to my bedroom door and restraining myself to open it slowly rather than push it out of my way as fast as possible.
“But by all means, let me show you just how loud you can be without anyone but me hearing it.” The lock glides into place with a loud click and my wife inhales sharply.
“Take me to bed.”
“Yes, ma’am.” I grin.
