Chapter 5

Chapter Five

The Anna woman is blushing as she hurries to the cooler. “I do have some beer. And food.”

She passes me a beer and I bite the twist cap off, taking a long drink before pressing it to Katie’s lips. I watch her like a depraved lunatic.

She covers her mouth cutely when I pull the bottle away. “Oh my. I’m feeling tipsy. I don’t drink much.”

She’s the opposite of every woman I know.

Sweet. Not a partier, and if I’m right, she’s got a sweet little cherry that needs to be popped A-fucking-SAP.

I finish the bottle with a noisy lick of my lips.

The way Katie watches my mouth does bad things to my control.

I clear my throat and reach for the food.

Ribs. What the hell was the photographer thinking?

Katie’s breathing rapidly on my lap when the burning need to feed and take care of her attacks me like a badger.

“Open up. She wants a show. She’s about to get one.”

I slowly insert the rib into her mouth. “Suck the meat off, princess.”

I have to bite back a groan as those sweet, petal pink lips wrap around the saucy baby back rib.

Her eyes flutter. She works that fucking bone over as her tight little bottom squirms in my lap. “Mmmmm.”

Damn right mmmm. This girl is a snack.

I pop the bone free and I lick the sauce off her bottom lip, making her gasp into my mouth.

I’m one second away from breaking that camera and sending our audience hightailing.

But as luck would have it a cop walks up, his shadow falling over us.

Katie goes stiff in my lap.

“Skull?!?” the officer barks, doing a double-take.

Fortunately it’s a guy I know. One of our insiders.

Anna’s trying to intercept. She quick-draws a business card, rushing out, “We’re doing a stranger photoshoot. You know the cute kind that are all over the internet where it’s a blind date with photos.”

Officer Winford scratches his head. Shifting between his polished shoes.

He fumbles for what to say. “Uh. Maybe keep it a little more rated G. We’re getting calls. A lot of calls.”

He tips his head to me. “Skull, nice to see you. I’m looking forward to that club cookout tonight.”

I tip my chin and give him a get lost look. “Should be a real banger.”

He grins, visions practically dancing above his head. Yep, the cop will be mixing it up with the club girls tonight. We encourage it. It’s good motivation to stay on our side.

But when I think about the barely-clad clinger girls I frown. Nope. Not what I want now.

I turn back to the lovely flower who is sitting on my lap waiting on me to feed her.

“Want another, sweetheart?”

“Yes please. That was delicious and I’m starving.”

Her eyes linger on my mouth.

Don’t kiss her right now. Don’t do it.

I feed her another rib instead. Almost moaning at the way she licks the bone clean.

“Good girl,” I growl. “That sexy little mouth sucks like a dream.”

She wiggles around and I use my thumb this time to catch a bit of sauce on that bottom lip, tasting it off my own skin when I’m done.

For a beat I’m lost in her. The cop is talking to Anna. Katie and I are blessedly alone.

She’s blushing.

“You shy, beautiful?”

“Yes. Men kind of scare me.” She glances down and startles when she realizes her hand is fisted around the edge of my leather cut. “Everything scares me actually. After what happened. I just can’t seem to… get my head right.”

The muscles around my spine lock tight. I need to know what made her this way.

So I can crush it.

“Now you have me as a shield—a big, two-hundred-seventy-pound skull crushing shield. You get scared of anything you call me.”

Our bubble of quiet bursts when Anna insists we pose somewhere else. And I realize I’d stand on my head if that’s what Katie wants.

Luckily they both think heading to my bike is a good idea instead.
