Chapter Nineteen #2

He wraps both arms around me, and I inhale sharply.

Please let it be enough. Please don’t push me away. I don’t know if I can take it this time.

When he finally stirs and draws back to look at me, my knees almost give out. Mason growls when my fingers move to his hair, and I push myself up on the tips of my toes. I touch my lips to his, sigh, and squeeze my eyes shut.

I pour every ounce of emotion I can into the kiss.

Mason’s hands move to my ass, and he hoists me up.

The breath leaves my body as he gently lowers me onto the carpet.

Then he pulls my shirt off and throws it over his shoulder.

His mouth is feather-light this time, and it brings tears to my eyes.

He pulls my sweatpants down with a surprising amount of tenderness and kicks them away.

His eyes are on me, wide and unflinching, as he stands up and hurries out of his clothes.

I let my eyes move over him, all taut muscle and smooth, tanned skin, and I smile.

Mason crawls between my legs, and I hold him against me.

We kiss like we have all the time in the world, like we’re exploring each other for the first time.

My heart swells with emotion when Mason frames my face in his hands and growls.

I run my hands up and down his back and stop at his behind, giving it a firm squeeze.

Mason makes a low guttural sound, and his hands move to my chest. He flicks one nipple, then the other, and wrenches his lips away.

I dig my nails into his waist when he begins to pepper my neck with hot, open-mouthed kisses, stopping when he reaches my chest. My body is on fire when he takes one nipple between his teeth and tugs.

He moves to the other one, sending molten desire racing through my veins.

Mason places one hand over my panties, and my eyes roll to the back of my head.

There’s a rustling sound, and when I look down, my panties are in tatters. He shrugs, throws them away, and settles back between my legs. His breath is hot, and he uses two fingers to caress me first. I arch my back and lean into his touch, and his fingers stop. Suddenly, his mouth is on me.

I fall back against the carpet as Mason moves his tongue back and forth slowly, making sure I fall into pieces around him.

I wind my fingers through his hair. “Oh, God. Oh… that feels amazing.”

“God has nothing to do with it.” Mason’s breath tickles my skin.

He laces his fingers through mine, and I buck against him when his tongue begins to move again.

The crescendo within me rises, deafening and undeniable as Mason sweeps his tongue back and forth.

Suddenly, I’m hurtling toward the edge and hanging onto Mason for dear life.

Spots dance in my vision as my body shakes and writhes.

I ride out my high, sweat pouring down my face and my sides.

When I blink, Mason is on top of me and nestled between my legs.

I lift my head to kiss him, nudging him closer.

Mason’s eyes darken as he thrusts into me. “You’re so wet.”

I gasp when he eases out and slams back into me. “Only for you.”

Mason makes a guttural sound and presses his forehead to mine. I close my eyes and grind against him. He moves slowly and evenly, stretching and filling every part of me until I can’t tell where I end and he begins.

I tug against our intertwined hands, and my chest tightens.

Over and over, we come together, uninhibited and free, until his pace turns wild and frantic, and I meet each thrust with one of my own.

Another orgasm crashes over me, and I cling to Mason, my breathing coming out in short bursts.

When I stop shaking, he eases out of me and stands up.

I frown until Mason sweeps me into his arms and carries me over to the desk.

He sweeps everything off it, letting the pile fall to the floor with a clatter, and sets me on the edge.

Then, he moves between my legs and thrusts into me. I cry out, not caring who can hear us.

We move together, bucking and writhing. I bury my head in the crook of his neck and ride out another high. His release follows soon after, and warmth spreads between my legs. Mason struggles to catch his breath while I stroke his back.

He glances down at me, a faint smile hovering on his lips.

Wordlessly, he eases out of me and helps me off the desk.

In silence, we lay on the carpet in front of the fire.

He drapes an arm over my shoulders, and I throw one leg over him.

Mason kisses the side of my head and tucks me into his side.

I prop myself up on my elbow to look at him, and in the dying embers of the light, with his eyes half-closed, he’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

His eyes open wide just then, and they’re clearer than I’ve ever seen them. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

I brush a lock of hair out of his eyes. “No reason.”

Mason props himself up on one elbow. “He can be home-schooled.”

I stare at him. “What?”

Mason glances away. “You said he’s a boy. I know a teacher. She’s certified. You’d like her. I’ll have to vet her again, but she’s worked for our family in the past.”

My heart stops.

“I… yeah, I don’t know if it’s a boy. I just feel like it is.”

Mason places a hand over my stomach. He holds it there and looks back at me. “I don’t have a preference.”

“You don’t?”

He shakes his head. “No.”

My breath catches in my throat, my mind whirring with possibilities. “Does this mean…”

“It means we’ll see how this works out,” Mason says. “I can’t make any guarantees, London.”

I reach for his hand and lace our fingers together. “I know.”

His features soften. “There’s still a lot that needs to be discussed.”

I nod.

“Have you told your parents yet?”

I make a face. “No, they’re still wrapping their heads around the fact that I’m staying with you on purpose. I think it’s better if I wait a while.”

Mason frowns. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?”

“It’s not like they’re going to hear it from someone else.”

Mason pauses. “We’ll need to increase their security. I’ll look into—”

“Increase security? Don’t you mean assign someone?”

“I’ve had someone keeping an eye on them for a while now,” Mason replies. “Nadia. She’s looking for full-time employment, so it works out.”

I throw my arms around him and bury my face in his neck. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Mason doesn’t reply.

“You should’ve told me.”

“You’ve had to give up a lot,” Mason says quietly. “I can’t guarantee their safety, even with Nadia watching, but I’m trying.”

Tears fill my eyes, and I blink them back. “You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you.”

“You shouldn’t thank me. I think I’ve fucked your life up further, especially with the baby, but…”

“But?”

Mason looks back at me, and his expression softens, making him look youthful and vulnerable. “I don’t know. This, you, us… I’m still in this.”

I search his face, and my heart leaps. “Even the baby?”

After a long pause, he nods. “Yes, even the baby.”

I curl up into his side and sigh. “We can do this.”

Mason kisses the side of my head, and his arm drops to my waist. “I promise I’ll do what I can to keep you safe, but you won’t always like it. In fact, you’ll probably hate me for it.”

I tilt my head back to look at him and run my finger over his stubble. “I won’t.”

Mason looks down at me again, and his expression is solemn. “We’ll see.”

When he draws back, he shifts down and brings his head to rest against my stomach, and something in me unfurls.

I know our problems are far from over, but I can’t help but cling to the possibility of what could be.

Having a future with Mason and the baby doesn’t seem so impossible after all.
