Epilogue

Willow

Three months later

“That’s two bags of chicken feed and we’ll take four bags of goat feed too.”

I put the bags up on the counter. “But Falcon will carry it out to the car.”

I smile at my dad who shakes his head. “You sure you two can make money with goats?”

“Oh yes. You would be very proud of me, dad. I’ve made up a business plan and everything.

We can rent out our herd of goats to people who want their land cleared.

It feeds the goats and it is good for the environment.

Plus, we are breeding them. More and more people up here on the mountain are wanting their own goats these days. ”

“You know that I’ve always been proud of you Willow. And it’s good to see you so happy.”

Falcon comes over carrying a cage with a bunny in it. “Look at this little guy. He’s all alone.”

“Not anymore.” I grin as I take the cage. “We shall call him Mr. Fluffikins.”

“No, he needs something better than that. I’m calling him Zeke.”

Dad is shaking his head again. “That bunny is a girl. And she is pregnant."

Falcon and I grin at each other. One, because we both know that Falcon will be building a dream hutch for our new bunny and her babies. And two, because we have been talking about kids, or a puppy, and baby bunnies will be the perfect stepping stone towards one or the other.

Once the truck is loaded up I turn to Falcon. “You know, when we get home I think we should do it like bunnies.”

Falcon laughs. And then with a big grin and wink. “You are such a bad girl Willow Brookes.”

Bad girl or good girl, I’m the girl who got her fresh start with a mountain man.
