Chapter 71

Kabir's Perspective

The day had been a whirlwind of final arrangements, family greetings, and endless phone calls. Yet, despite the chaos of the upcoming wedding, my thoughts always found their way back to Aditi. We hadn't seen each other since the engagement last night, but that hadn't stopped me from thinking about her—about the teasing texts we had exchanged late into the night. My mind replayed every flirtatious word, every shy response she had sent me. She knew how to drive me crazy without even trying.

It was evening now, and I finally had a break in the preparations. I decided to surprise her at her office. She had probably spent the entire day wrapping up her work before the wedding, making sure everything was in place. That's Aditi for you—responsible, focused, even when her life was about to change forever in just a few days.

I grabbed my keys, the sound of the engine starting feeling like the beginning of something I couldn't quite put into words. The traffic was lighter than I expected, and it didn't take long before I pulled up to her office building. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, golden light over the city, making everything look like it was bathed in a soft glow. The same warmth flooded my chest, knowing that I was about to see her.

As I made my way up to her floor, I felt that familiar excitement bubbling under my skin. My phone buzzed in my pocket, but I ignored it, my focus solely on seeing her. Reaching her door, I paused for a moment, savoring the anticipation, then knocked lightly.

"Is my advocate free?" I called out, pushing the door open slightly.

Aditi looked up from her desk, her eyes lighting up the moment she saw me. She immediately dropped the files she was holding and came running toward me, her arms wrapping around my neck in a tight embrace. I couldn't help but laugh, catching her in my arms and holding her close. The scent of her hair filled my senses, and I sighed contentedly.

"Long day?" I asked, burying my face in her hair, my lips brushing against the top of her head.

She nodded, her cheek resting against my chest. "Too long," she whispered, still holding onto me like she never wanted to let go. And honestly, I didn't either.

Her arms around me felt like home, and for a few moments, we stood there, wrapped up in each other. The world outside didn't matter anymore. It was just us.

"You're leaving now, right?" I asked, pulling back slightly so I could see her face.

"Yeah," she said with a soft smile. "Just finishing up some last-minute things."

I brushed a few stray strands of hair away from her face and leaned in, pressing a kiss to her forehead. Her eyes fluttered closed, and I could see the small smile playing on her lips. She always looked so beautiful, but moments like this—where she was completely at ease, vulnerable, and close—made my heart race.

She tilted her head back, and I couldn't resist. My lips brushed against her cheek, then slowly made their way down, kissing her soft skin. Her giggle was soft and breathy, making me want to hear more of it. I trailed kisses across her face, each one light and teasing. She squirmed slightly in my arms, but I didn't let her go.

"Kabir," she murmured, her voice low, as if she were trying to protest but couldn't bring herself to stop me.

"Mmm?" I hummed against her skin, my lips finding the corner of her mouth. She giggled again, that sound sending a surge of warmth through me.

"You're impossible," she said, her voice filled with that playful exasperation I loved so much.

"I know," I whispered before finally capturing her lips in a soft, lingering kiss.

Her lips parted under mine, and for a moment, everything else disappeared. The taste of her, the way she melted into me—it was intoxicating. My hand slid up her back, pulling her even closer, and she responded by wrapping her arms tighter around my neck.

I deepened the kiss, my hand trailing up to cup her cheek, my thumb brushing gently against her skin. Her breath hitched, and I couldn't help but smile against her lips. She always had this way of reacting to me that made my heart pound.

When we finally pulled apart, her eyes were hazy with desire, her breath coming in soft gasps. I brushed my thumb across her lower lip, still savoring the feel of her against me.

"Come on," I said softly, "I'm driving you home."

She nodded, still looking a little dazed, and began gathering her things. I took her bag from her, ignoring her protests that she could carry it herself, and we made our way out of the office together. My hand found the small of her back, guiding her as we walked through the nearly empty halls of the building.

Once we reached the car, I opened the door for her, but instead of letting her sit in the front seat, I stopped her with a grin.

"Get in the back," I said, my voice teasing but firm.

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. "The back?"

I nodded, smirking. "I want you close."

She gave me a playful look but slid into the backseat without further protest. I followed her in, closing the door behind us. The air between us shifted immediately, the enclosed space of the car wrapping us in a bubble where the rest of the world didn't exist.

Aditi kicked off her heels with a sigh of relief, and I watched, completely mesmerized by the sight of her. Even something as simple as her slipping out of her shoes had my pulse racing. I leaned forward, taking her foot in my hand, gently rubbing her ankle as she let out a soft sigh.

"Your feet must be killing you," I said, my voice low as I massaged the tension away.

"A little," she admitted, closing her eyes and leaning her head back against the seat. "But it's nothing compared to how I feel right now."

"And how's that?" I asked, my fingers trailing lightly over her ankle and up her calf, making her shiver.

"Like I don't ever want this moment to end," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

I smiled, leaning in closer, my hand still sliding up her leg, brushing against the smooth fabric of her saree. "It doesn't have to," I murmured, my lips grazing her ear.

She let out a soft gasp, her hand reaching out to grab the front of my shirt, pulling me closer. I took that as an invitation, my lips finding her neck, pressing soft kisses along the curve of her throat. Her skin was warm and smooth, and I could feel her pulse quicken under my lips.

"Kabir," she breathed, her voice trembling slightly.

"Mmm?" I hummed against her neck, not stopping.

Her hands fisted in my shirt, pulling me even closer. I could feel the tension building between us, the heat of her body so close to mine driving me insane. I nipped at her skin lightly, eliciting a soft moan from her that made my heart pound in my chest.

I pulled back just enough to look at her, my eyes meeting hers in the dim light of the car. Her lips were slightly parted, her cheeks flushed, and her eyes—God, those eyes—were filled with the same desire that was coursing through my veins.

Without another word, I leaned in and kissed her again, harder this time, my hand tangling in her hair as I pulled her closer. She responded immediately, her hands sliding up to grip my shoulders as our kiss deepened. The heat between us was undeniable, the need palpable.

My hands found the edge of her saree, gently tugging it aside as my lips trailed down her neck, across her collarbone, and toward the swell of her chest. She let out a soft whimper, her hands clutching my shoulders, urging me closer.

"Kabir," she whispered, her voice breathless, "this... this isn't fair."

I grinned against her skin. "What isn't fair?"

"You," she breathed, her eyes fluttering closed as I pressed a kiss to the curve of her breast. "You're making it impossible to think."

I chuckled softly, my lips brushing against the soft fabric of her blouse. "Good."

Her head fell back against the seat, her body arching into me as I continued my assault on her senses. Every touch, every kiss, was driving her closer to the edge, and I loved every second of it.

But as much as I wanted to keep going, I knew I had to stop. We were in a car, after all, and as much as I wanted to keep teasing her, I didn't want to push too far.

Reluctantly, I pulled back, watching as she slowly opened her eyes, still dazed and breathless. Her lips were swollen from our kisses, her cheeks flushed, and I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her.

"We should get you home," I said softly, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

She nodded, still catching her breath, and I couldn't resist leaning in to press one more soft kiss to her lips.

The drive to her house was quiet, the tension between us still simmering just beneath the surface. When we finally pulled up to her house, I parked the car and turned to her, smiling softly.

"Tomorrow," I said, my voice low, "we'll pick up where we left off."

She smiled, her eyes gleaming with that mix of excitement and anticipation that always drove me wild. Her fingers brushed lightly against mine as she reached for the door handle, hesitating for a moment before turning back to look at me.

"You really know how to make a girl look forward to tomorrow," she whispered, her voice soft but laced with playfulness.

I chuckled, leaning back in the seat, watching her with an easy grin. "You haven't seen anything yet."

She shook her head, laughing under her breath before finally stepping out of the car. I watched as she adjusted her saree, the fabric falling perfectly into place as she turned back to wave at me. Even in the low light, I could see the blush still lingering on her cheeks, the glow of our intimate moment still fresh on her face.

"Goodnight, Kabir," she called softly, her voice carrying that hint of affection that made my chest tighten.

"Goodnight, Aditi," I replied, my voice deeper than I expected, thick with the desire that was still coursing through me. As she turned and walked up to her door, I couldn't take my eyes off her, my heart pounding in my chest as I watched her disappear inside.

The car suddenly felt empty without her, the lingering warmth from our moment together fading as I leaned back in the seat, exhaling slowly. I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm the racing thoughts in my head, but it was impossible. All I could think about was her—her soft lips, her flushed cheeks, the way she melted into me like she was made to fit there.

I could still feel the heat of her body against mine, the way her breath hitched when my lips found her neck, the way she responded to every touch, every kiss. It was intoxicating, knowing I could make her feel that way, knowing she wanted me just as much as I wanted her.

But I had to remind myself that there was still so much more to come. The wedding was just days away, and as much as I wanted to claim her in every way, I knew the wait would make it all the more worth it.

Smiling to myself, I started the car, the engine purring to life as I drove away from her house, my mind already racing with thoughts of tomorrow.
