CHAPTER FIVE #3
Leif lifted his arm long enough to glare at him through narrowed eyes. “I told you, I need to get to bed.”
“Technically, we’re already in bed.” Tanner shot him a cheeky smile and slung an arm over his waist.
Leif groaned and dropped his arm again. Of course Tanner was a cuddler after sex.
Shit. This had been such a bad idea. If anyone found out they were fucking, they’d be in deep shit with their teammates at the bare minimum.
Their coaches probably wouldn’t be very happy about it either.
Oh God, his father was Tanner’s coach. And the fans …
oh fuck no. The fans couldn’t find out either.
As far as Leif knew, all of the relationships in the league had either been with the same team or with someone unrelated to hockey.
Guys on rival teams? Yeah, that shit never happened.
Well, maybe it did. It seemed pretty unlikely to Leif that it had never happened in the whole history of the sport. But if it had, no one had talked about it.
Hell, the media already made a big enough deal about it every time New York and Boston played each other.
The teams were long-time divisional rivals, and everyone knew Tanner and Leif didn’t get along on the ice.
Reporters and podcasters just loved to push that angle.
Plus, the fact that Leif’s father was one of the coaches for Boston always added to it and … yeah, no.
Leif was not letting anyone find out about his hookup. It had been stupid. Good, but really fucking stupid.
“You’re not invited to stay the night,” Leif said aloud, glaring at Tanner, and hoping he got the message. He wanted to be abundantly clear about that.
“You’re going to kick me out?” Tanner pouted, then ran a hand across Leif’s chest, idly toying with one nipple. “Rude.”
“I’d rather you left on your own,” Leif muttered. “But if that’s what it takes …”
“Wow, you have absolutely no bedside manner.” Tanner made a tsking noise.
“Pretty sure that has nothing to do with sex,” Leif pointed out. “That’s doctors and nurses and trainers. Medical professionals.”
“Well, it still sucks.”
“You suck,” Leif muttered because at this point chirping back at Tanner was habit.
“Like a Hoover!” Tanner said cheerfully. He reached down and grasped Leif’s cock.
It was soft, lying wetly against his thigh, the condom still on. Leif should do something about that. He usually got rid of it right away, it was just that his bones had turned to jelly and he could just imagine the way Tanner would chirp him if he stumbled out of bed.
He’d be even more insufferable than usual.
But a second later, Tanner stripped the condom off, making Leif yelp at the sudden rush of cool air against his sensitive, damp skin. When he heard a wet splat, he lowered his arm, glaring at Tanner.
“Did you just throw a used condom on the floor?”
“Yep.” Tanner scooted closer, laying his head on Leif’s shoulder this time. He returned his hand to Leif’s cock, wrapping a warm palm around it.
“You are disgusting.”
“You’re the one who fucked me,” Tanner pointed out. He wasn’t really stroking Leif or anything. Just kinda cupping his dick. It was weirdly … nice.
“Much to my regret.”
Tanner snorted. “Sure, dude. That was the best sex of your life, and you know it.”
“Ugh.” Unfortunately, that was true. He wasn’t going to admit that aloud, however. It was bad enough to acknowledge in his head.
He returned his arm to his eyes, blocking out the light and trying to do the same with the knowledge of who he was in bed with. Maybe if he just lay here and pretended, he could convince himself it was Sérgio.
Or some other guy. Anyone but Tanner Clayton, really.
Except, no one but Tanner Clayton had ever ridden him until his bones turned to jelly.
“So like, I’m really psyched about this tourney.” Tanner brushed his fingers across Leif’s balls.
Leif groaned. “Can you just … shut up for five minutes and bask in the afterglow?”
“So you admit there’s an afterglow to bask in?” Tanner’s voice was filled with glee.
“I got off,” Leif countered, although he had to bite back a smile.
“You nutted so hard you almost blacked out, dude,” Tanner threw back.
Leif huffed. “What will it take to get you to be quiet?”
“I dunno. I like to talk.” Tanner toyed with the loose foreskin of Leif’s cock, making him shiver.
“I noticed.”
“Fine. Do you mind if I’m on my phone?”
“I’d rather you went to your room.”
“Can’t forget round two,” Tanner reminded him as he sat up. “Unless … are you worried you won’t be able to get it up again so soon?”
Leif scoffed and shoved him away. “Fuck off. I’m going to clean up.” He heaved himself into a sitting position.
Tanner hopped out of bed, then yelped. “Eww, just stepped on the condom.”
“That’s why you don’t throw it on the floor, you idiot,” Leif pointed out, hiding another smile. Tanner so deserved that. “And do you have the memory of a goldfish or what?”
“Meh, sometimes,” Tanner said, bending to pick it up. “Although that’s a myth. Goldfish are smart. They can navigate mazes and recognize people and shit.”
“Smarter than you, clearly.”
“Fuck you,” Tanner shot back, though his voice was cheerful as he dropped the condom in the trash with another wet splat. No tissue or anything. Disgusting. Leif was going to have to leave a hefty tip for the cleaning person.
“And how do you know all that about goldfish anyway?” Leif got out of bed.
“Mmm, some weird rabbit hole I went down when I was bored on a flight to Vancouver one time, I think.”
Leif rolled his eyes as he disappeared into the bathroom. Seriously. What had he done to deserve this shit?
