Cooper James’ sisters call him the Honey Pot because girls have been like bees, buzzing around him from the time he was old enough to realize girls were the secret to eternal happiness.
As a make-love-not-war kind of guy, he knows when to invoke his patented exit strategy to get himself out of a situation before it turns ugly.
Why would any guy want to settle down with one woman when he can dine at the smorgasbord?
That said, after spending time with his brother, Jared, and his wife, Lizzie, Cooper sees that Jared has found something special with his wife.
If someone like Lizzie comes along, Cooper might be tempted to give up his serial-dating ways to settle down.
But thus far, he hasn’t met anyone who’s made him want to change his life that dramatically.
That is until he comes across the goddess of all goddesses swimming in Jared’s pool on Gansett Island.
Now, he’s on a date with reality TV star and his ultimate dream girl, Gigi Gibson, who rents the apartment over Jared’s garage.
He borrows Jared’s prized Porsche with promises that nothing will happen to it, which is why he’s hanging on to the vehicle, praying that help arrives before he and the Porsche go over a cliff.
Talk about the perfect selfie with his date gone bad.
Only a rotted log stands between him and the car and certain disaster.
“Cooper, please! Let it go!” Gigi sounds like she’s crying, and he hates that. He’d wanted this to be such a fun night for them, and it’s turned into a disaster.
The fire department arrives, wraps a chain around the bumper and tells him to let go of the car. Gigi appears at his side.
“Get back,” the firefighter says to her. “This ground isn’t stable.”
She pries Cooper’s hands from the car’s bumper and half drags him to safety. “Jesus H. Shitballs,” she mutters when the two of them land on the grass. “You scared the fuck out of me.”
“Sorry.”
A paramedic approaches them. “Are you hurt?”
“I, uh, I think I might be.” The pain coming from his chest is too intense to be ignored.
“He landed against the log when he lunged for the car and hit his face and chest,” Gigi says.
The paramedics transport Cooper to the clinic. Even though he tells her she doesn’t have to, Gigi drives the car to the clinic to make sure he’s okay. “It’s all your fault,” she tells the car. “This was turning out to be a rather nice evening before you ruined everything.”
When was the last time she’d been out on a traditional date in which the guy showed up at her door with handpicked wildflowers and told her how happy he was to be spending time with her? Um, never?
