Chapter Seventeen

Aaron

Ididn’t realize how tightly I’d been holding my muscles until headlights cut through my dark living room.

Now I was balancing not only Skye, but Kyle on my shoulders and carrying them back to my cabin like a caveman.

“I’ve never been here before…I like your floors,” she joked as I carried her upside down through the kitchen.

“Tour tomorrow, bed now.”

Once we were in the bedroom, I put her on her feet then carefully extracted Kyle from the top of my head and put him on the floor. I knew he would need food and water, and a litter box and toys, and attention and all of those things a famous cat needed, but he could wait a few minutes.

We stared at each other for a long moment, breath coming faster.

“He might destroy your house,” she said, gesturing to Kyle.

“It was too clean, anyway.” I kissed her before she had a chance to reply. We didn’t need to joke and play right now. Right now, I needed a moment that was the real us more than I needed my next breath.

She moaned into my mouth, going up on her tiptoes to deepen the kiss. I ran my hands over her waist, breaking the kiss long enough to pull her shirt over her head.

I walked her backwards until she met the edge of the mattress and we crawled onto it together. The dirty talk I usually liked didn’t come, instead when I opened my mouth the most honest thing I could say came out. “I missed you,” I admitted, sliding my hands around her back to unclasp her bra.

She squeezed her eyes shut for a moment then opened them, pointing the full effect of her baby blues at me. “Missed the sex or…”

“You.” I worked her jeans open, slid them down her thighs and off her feet. “Just you.”

“Then get naked and prove it.”

I let out a feral sounding growl and pushed myself to standing, shedding my clothes in record time.

Her pupils dilated as she watched me strip and it made me feel ten feet tall. I crawled up her body but once I was looming over her she pushed me on my side and straddled my hips.

I looked up at her as the heat of her center settled over mine. Her hair was in a bun that had half fallen out, the sunburn on her nose had healed but left a smattering of freckles behind.

Her skin was smooth as I ran my hands up her chest, and teased the nipples with my thumbs. “You want to be in charge, huh?”

She nodded and a grin split her face. “My turn to drive.” She took my cock in her hand, it twitched as the warmth of her palm surrounded the shaft. Then she went up on her knees and lined me up with her entrance.

The wet heat of her surrounded the tip and my head fell back.

She lowered herself onto my length until she was flush against me again. “Fuck you feel good,” I moaned.

“Just you wait.” I opened my eyes and watched as she raised up then impaled herself on my cock again.

I cried out like I’d been punched in the gut as my body burned from the inside.

She rode me with more speed, her thigh muscles, strong from hiking, kept her going faster and faster as fire licked over my skin. She guided my hand between her thighs and I teased her clit as she chased her pleasure.

“I’m going to come,” she said, arching her back, her hair finally giving up and falling out of her bun completely.

Her body shuddering over me was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen, but I didn’t get to enjoy it long.

As her inner muscles clenched around my cock I lost it.

I stilled her hips with my hands, digging my fingers into her soft skin, and thrust up into her over and over, my heels digging into the mattress.

I pumped her full, moving fast until I finally collapsed onto my back again.

She fell onto my chest a moment later. It was way too hot with her laying here but I wouldn’t have moved for anything. Her hair was splayed over my shoulder, her breasts pillowed against my chest, my cum leaking down her thigh.

For a while neither of us spoke. The only sounds in the room were our breathing and Kyle investigating my cabin like a furry burglar.

“You know,” Skye said eventually, tracing lazy circles against my chest, “for a guy who acts gruff and alpha all the time, you’re surprisingly affectionate.”

I snorted. “I’m not gruff and alpha.”

“You carried me into your house over your shoulder like you were carrying a sack of potatoes.”

“That was practical.”

“Mhmm.” Her grin turned soft around the edges. “Then you told me you missed me before immediately trying to fold me in half.”

Heat crawled up my neck. “You bring out weird behavior in me.”

“I noticed.” Her eyes scanned my face. “Is that a bad thing?”

I shook my head. “I’m okay with having a side of me only you see…just don’t tell anyone.”

She mimed zipping her lips.

Kyle launched himself onto the bed without warning and marched across my ribs. Skye laughed as he settled between us, clearly happy with this turn of events.

Skye scratched under his chin. “I think he likes you more than me now.”

“If he does, he has bad judgment.”

“Says the man who tried to save me from a leisurely swim.”

I wrapped an arm tighter around her waist. “Pretty sure you’re screaming was to blame.”

“Details.” She tilted her head up to look at me, some of the teasing easing out of her expression. “So…what now?”

That question should’ve terrified me. A month ago, it probably would have.

Instead I looked around the cabin. At the cat currently shedding all over my blankets. At the woman tangled against my side like she’d always belonged there.

“Now?” I brushed my thumb over her hip. “We sleep. Tomorrow, we figure everything out. How to combine order, chaos and cat care into a life.”

Her smile hit me right in the chest. More sweet this time instead of playful.

“Good,” she murmured. “Because I’m kind of attached to my grumpy mountain man.”

I huffed a laugh and pressed a kiss into her hair while Kyle purred loud enough to rattle the mattress springs.

I lived in the mountains because I wanted to be alone, turns out I just needed the right person - and creature - to share it with.
