Chapter 12 Six
Six
Scarlett
Shaking my head, I laugh. I can just see Madison getting into it with Joker as he walks in.
I don’t know why she’s holding back. I can see the way she looks at him when he’s not looking.
She’s infatuated with him, just like I am with a certain someone.
I peek at him from the corner of my eye to see him already looking at me with a smile on his face.
Ducking my head, my face flushes with embarrassment at being caught looking at him.
I can't seem to help myself when he's around me.
He is so hot. I don't think I've ever felt this level of attraction to someone in my life.
Ghost chuckles beside me. “Do you need anything, Babydoll?”
Deciding to grow a pair, I look into his eyes. “A coffee would be nice if you have any.” I don't want to be a bother, as he's done so much for me already, but I need something to help me wake up. That, and I'm trying to get the image of my dream out of my head.
He looks at me, and I mean, really looks at me. He slowly lifts his hand and pushes a piece of hair behind my ear. “Anything for you, Scarlett.”
I truly think he means that. I watch as he walks away into the kitchen. Needing to move my sore muscles, I follow him at a much slower pace into the kitchen. He turns around, hearing me come in.
“Hey, I would have brought it to you.” He adds the cream and sugar just the way I like it and places it in front of me.
I take a seat gingerly at the island, my body screaming at me, and take a sip, sighing in bliss. “Thank you. It's perfect. It's okay. I needed to walk to work out my sore body.”
He gets a dark look in his eyes at the mention of how sore I am.
Before he can say anything, there is a sharp knock at the door, making me jump at the unexpected sound.
My heart beats wildly in my chest, thinking that my dad finally found me.
Which is crazy because there is no way he could get onto the compound without someone seeing him.
Ghost places his hand on my arm, making me flinch slightly. “Hey you're safe, babydoll. It's just the girls bringing you some stuff.”
My heart rate slowly goes back to normal. “Sorry, I'm just a little jumpy.” I lower my head in embarrassment. A knot forms in my stomach thinking the worst, but I should know better. Ghost would never hurt me. But old habits and all that.
He lifts my chin so I'm looking at him. “You have no need to be sorry. With what your piece of shit father has done to you over the years, it's understandable.” With that, he walks away and opens the door. I stand up, following him.
Savannah and Hailey come through the door loaded down with lots of bags, making my eyes bulge as a prospect comes in behind them carrying the rest. They deposit the bags in the living room.
“What did you guys do — rob the mall?” Ghost laughs as he takes some of the bags from them.
“We bought her only the essentials.” Savannah says as she starts organizing the bags.
Wow, if that's only the essentials, I don't want to see how they really shop. I don’t even remember the last time I went to the mall. Hailey walks over to me and pulls me into a light hug. She has such a beautiful soul, but I’ve seen firsthand what happens when you piss her off.
She definitely knows how to hold her own, and that’s why she makes the perfect ole’ lady to Blade, the president of the MC. “How are you feeling?”
“I'm definitely feeling it today.” She pulls back and looks at me with anger in her eyes for what happened to me, and I'm so grateful for all the people in my life.
“Don't worry, the guys will find them and make them pay. Nothing is going to happen to you. You are family, and we take care of our own.”
I nod my head as my throat clogs with all the emotions I'm feeling right now. “Thank you, Hailey.”
Savannah walks over and pulls me into a hug. “You're one of us. Love you, girl.”
My eyes close, and I let a tear slip from my eye, unable to hold it in anymore. “Love you guys too.” I pull back, wipe the tears, and laugh.
“Now let's show you the stuff we’ve got for you. I know the main goal was to get you essentials until you are healed enough to go shopping, but we might have gone a little overboard.” Savannah says with a smile on her face.
My eyes widened at all the bags lying on every surface. “Wow, all that's for me?” I don't think I've ever had someone buy me something before. I don't know what I've done to deserve this.
Hailey stands beside me and grabs my hand, giving it a squeeze. “You deserve this and more. This is what we do for our family. If you don’t like something, no worries; we can always exchange it for you. We are gonna go to let you get some rest, but before we do, we have something for you.”
Savannah walks to one of the bags and hands something to Hailey without letting me see. She pulls a box out of the bag and turns around. I gasp seeing the box. The picture on it shows a brand new laptop and a drawing tablet. My hands fly to my mouth in shock because this is so unexpected.
She smiles at me. “I know yours was stolen, and we wanted to do something for you. We all chipped in and got you the best. We may have had Crow help us with which one to get. This way you can get back to doing what you love.”
She places the boxes in my hands, and I let the tears fall, unable to keep them in.
“Omg I don't even know what to say. Thank you so much.” My passion is drawing, and I've loved it since I was a kid.
When my dad sold my old laptop, it had everything on it.
I cried because I had just lost everything.
And now, with this generous gift, I can finally get it back.
“I don't know how I will ever repay you guys.” My voice breaks as more tears fall. Ghost walks over and takes the boxes from my hands as I wrap my arms around the girls, so grateful.
“Repay us by getting better. When you're feeling better, we will get together and have a girls’ day.” Hailey says, making me smile.
They pull back, and Savannah gets a wicked smirk on her face, wiggling her eyebrows. “I want the juicy gossip about you and Ghost later.”
My face goes ten different shades of red as they laugh and walk out the door.
I take a chance and look over at Ghost, and I know he had to have heard them as he's sporting a wicked smirk on his face right now.
I do believe Sav did that on purpose. I turn around and look at everything in the living room before going towards one of the many bags.
I take a look inside. Brand new clothes, all in my size, toiletries, and every accessory you could think of.
They even bought a sketchbook and pencils.
I wipe the tears that don’t seem to want to stop falling. My heart could literally burst with all the happiness I feel right now. “I don’t even know what to say. I don’t even remember the last time someone bought me something, but all this I truly feel blessed with all of you in my life.”
Ghost places the laptop on the table and walks over and pulls me gently to his side, kissing the top of my head.
My eyes close as I sink into his side. “You deserve to be spoiled, Scarlett. Now I want you to sit your pretty ass down and play with your shit while I put your clothes away.” Ghost steers me towards the couch and hands me the laptop and drawing tablet.
He walks away and comes back with a fresh coffee for me.
“Ghost, I can put the other stuff away; you've done too much already.” I go to stand up, but that just makes him growl as he helps me sit back down. He bends his head so he’s eye level with me.
If this were anyone else, I would be scared out of my mind, but never with Ghost. My heart races, and my hands get clammy.
He’s so close to my lips that if I moved even an inch his lips would be on mine.
Lord help me, but it’s taking everything in me not to close the distance to see if his lips feel just as soft as they look.
A hand on my chin brings my face up to look at Ghost. “Are you with me, babydoll?” I can hear the laughter in his voice, his smile feral, as if he likes the thought of me checking him out.
Shit, he just caught me checking him out, and all I want to do is crawl in a hole and hide.
“Good, now that I have your attention, your job is to relax—or did you forget that? Let me take care of you. Scarlett. It makes me happy to do so, okay.”
I let my shoulders drop. Knowing he’s not going to let this go. I’m definitely not used to all this special treatment. “Okay, Ghost.”
His smile lights up his entire face, with me agreeing with him.
I want to see him smile more. He's always so intense, but I guess that comes with being the VP of The Lost Saints. He leans forward, and I close my eyes, thinking he’s going to kiss me, but then I feel his lips touch my forehead in a feather-light kiss, making me sigh.
His lips linger a little longer than normal.
But I’m not going to complain. He makes me feel so cherished, like I truly matter.
He pulls back and gets a wicked smile on his face. “Oh, and you have my permission to look at me anytime you want, babydoll — just know I will be doing the same.”
OMG, I can’t believe he called me out for checking him out.
Though if you’ve seen the man, you would be doing the same — he is that hot.
Add in the fact that he’s a badass biker with a heart of gold, and ya, it really does it for me.
My face goes up in flames. I cover my face and can’t help the laugh that comes out.
I drop my hands and shake my head, smiling at him. “Teasing isn’t nice, Ghost.”
He just throws his head back, laughing. “Alright, I’ll stop for now, but know when you're all healed up I’m taking your ass on a date.
You're mine, Scarlett, and I plan to show you the world. And call me Camden.” With that, he winks at my stunned face and picks up all the bags and heads upstairs to put my things away.
Holy shit, Ghost, or should I say Camden, said I was his and wants to take me out on a date.
This is huge, especially in the MC world, because when they claim someone, it’s for life.
Lord, these men move fast, but the more that I think about it, I don’t have it in me to care how fast it is.
A bubble of excitement runs through me at the thought of going on a date with him.
I’m grabbing this with both hands and not letting go. This is truly day one of my new life.
