Chapter 34
Ignoring his brother’s request, Zane continued to hungrily enjoy his mate, knowing David was now safe from being hunted.
Sneaking his tongue between his mate’s perfect lips, swallowing David’s moans, Zane tasted his mate’s heady elixir, sure it would never lose its magic, no matter how long they lived.
Feeling his need rise, Zane’s hands burrowed under David’s shirt where they finally found bare skin, caressing the flesh that drew him like a moth to flame.
Lost in the private world he was sharing with his mate, Zane’s cock grew hard, seeking release.
Twisting and turning, Zane finally had David where he and his cock wanted him—flat on his back with his legs wrapped around Zane’s waist.
Thoroughly amused by the spectacle, Logan nonetheless growled, “Hey, get a room!”
David’s lust-muddled brain finally processed what Zane’s brother was saying; his face turned red as he slowed his pumping against his mate.
Embarrassed he’d forgotten they weren’t alone, his need slowly subsided as he came down from his high.
Feeling Zane pull back, he looked up at his mate’s face—a shadow of concern was beginning to eclipse the love and need still burning there.
Intuitively, David knew what was causing Zane’s worry and, rushing to ease it, he murmured, “Love, your brother is watching us and I think he wants to say something,”
Glancing over his shoulder, Zane saw Logan smirking and waving at him.
Growling, he righted himself along with his mate, checking to make sure they were both decent.
Deciding to ignore Logan, he said, “We’ll see you at dinner, bro.
Thanks for everything. Now if you don’t mind, my mate and I will leave and be in our suite for the rest of the day. ”
“Not so fast,” Logan said, “I think we need to discuss your obligations as a member of the Blackwood Pack.”
“Ahh, why? Jackson hasn’t found fault with my work. In fact, he told me I deserved this vacation because of all the research I did,” replied Zane.
“I’m not disputing that. I’m talking about you disappearing without telling me where you are go…” Logan began.
“It’s not his fault!” David cut in. “I was the one who made him disappear, so blame me.”
“I’m not blaming either of you,” Logan sighed. “And I understand why it happened, but Zane knows better. He should have given me a way to reach him or kept in touch. Right, bro?”
“Right. My only excuse was my need to protect my mate. I’m sorry, Logan, I promise it won’t happen again,” replied Zane.
“I hope not, because I’m thinking I need to put a tracker on both of you,” Logan joked.
Zane felt his mate stiffen at the mention of having it done to him again, so he growled, “Not happening! Someone did that to David and I removed it, so don’t even think it’ll happen again.”
“Wait! You removed it? When?” asked Logan.
“Before we went to see Angus. I threw it in Loch Ness to send Michael off on a wild goose chase,” Zane answered before asking, “You knew they were tracking David? How?”
“Groose found a bio-tracker on the guy we caught in your bedroom and Slate sent it to his people to see if they could find the frequency so we could locate the group he was part of. That’s how we found out Michael and his men were heading for Angus,” replied Logan.
“Slate showed me David’s red dot, which was stationary, and all the other red dots heading toward him. ”
“Do you have a picture of the bio-tracker the asshole had?” asked Zane.
“Sure,” Logan said, handing his phone over after he’d found it.
“That’s not like the one I removed from David,” Zane said.
“Let me see,” said David, taking the phone and looking at the picture.
“Wait a minute,” Zane continued, “if David no longer had it when we arrived at the Scottish Wolf Pack, it wasn’t David you saw,” Zane said. “How did you know it was my mate?”
“I didn’t know for sure because there wasn’t any name linked to it, but there was only one red dot in the middle of the wolves’ village. And since Angus had told Ian that David was there, we assumed the dot was him,” replied Logan.
Zane looked at his brother, then slapped his hand against his forehead. “Fuck! Of course, that’s it. Is Slate around? I want to see where the red dots are now.”
“What is it?” asked David, as Logan tapped out a text to Slate.
“He’ll be here in a minute. What do you expect to find…or not find as the case may be?” asked Logan.
“Think about it. First, Michael tracks David to Brian’s cottage, right?”
“Right,” Logan and David said in unison.
“David poofs us out of there in the nick of time and, I might add, great job, babe,” Zane said, smiling. “Then, when we were at that castle, I removed the tracker I thought he was using to find David. How did he know we were with Angus?”
Logan let that sink in for a few seconds, before answering. “Because there’s another fuckin’ tracker on David!” he exclaimed.
“What? But you looked and you didn’t see anything,” replied David.
“It could be deep within you,” Zane said. “That way, if the primary tracker fails, the second one kicks in and Michael could still track you. We’ll know for sure once Slate gets here.”
“But,” said David, “we threw the one you took out of me into the lake and it was still working, right?”
“Don’t know that for sure,” Zane said. “That lake is cold and its battery might have quit after a while, triggering the other one to start transmitting.
Just then, Slate joined them. “What’s up?”
“Can you open the bio-tracker locations app?” asked Logan.
“Sure,” Slate said, handing the phone to Logan after he’d done it.
Checking it out, Logan then gave the phone to Zane. “You were right, bro,” he said.
After showing David the lone, red dot on the screen, Zane said, “I want it out of him now! I’m sure the High Priestess knows exactly where David is.”
“But where is it, love? We know it’s not anywhere under my skin so it must be inside me,” David said.
“Maybe Colton or Ian knows how we can find it,” offered Zane.
“On it,” Logan said, sending a message to his brother. “One thing I’m sure of, it’ll require equipment we don’t have access to right now. Slate, would your guys know how it could be disabled, without digging for it?”
“I don’t know, but it’s worth asking,” Slate said, as he called his office.
“Hey, guys, we’re here,” Colton called out as he opened the door to the suite. Once Logan brought them up to speed, Colton said, “Without knowing where they might have put it, the only way is to do a full body scan.”
“What do you need? Steel might be able to arrange it for us, like he did after we rescued Fionn,” said Logan.
“An X-ray would do but a CAT scan will be faster and easier,” Ian said. “And if I find it, I might need an operating room, depending on how deep it is.”
“Asking Steel, now,” Logan said, typing, then sending his message.
“Hey, tell Steel I also need access to do an ultrasound on Ian just to make sure our pup is okay,” added Colton.
“I’m fine,” Ian protested.
“Humor me, please,” said Colton. “The extreme tiredness you are experiencing is not normal. I just want to make sure there isn’t any problem with the pup, okay?”
Sighing, Ian said, “Add an ultrasound to the list.”
“Will do,” responded Logan. And, after he’d done that, said to Colton, “Bro, I know how you feel.”
Slate ended his call. “My people will check into remotely disabling the tracker, but they say it’s highly unlikely; they’d have to first find out who’s controlling the signal before they could try to kill it.”
“Michael was monitoring it,” Zane said. “But he’s dead. The only other one would be the High Priestess, right, babe?”
David thought for a moment before answering, “I think so, but what about the person who killed Michael?”
“Mmmm, my mate has a point. When we went after Michael, I found the trail of another wolf who must have been the one that killed the asshole,” Zane said.
“Did either of you recognize the scent?” asked Logan.
Zane looked at David who shook his head. “No, I don’t know who it was,” he said. “But it was one of Michael’s men because I picked up the scent as soon as I entered the forest.”
“Why would one of his men kill him? A double cross?” asked Slate.
“Maybe…I wonder if the High Priestess knows. Are there any other red dots you can find?” asked Zane.
Slate glanced at his phone, then said, “No…not in Scotland. Just a minute.” Tapping the screen, Slate reset the map, expending it to include all of Europe. “Nope, nothing in Europe either.”
“We don’t know if the rogue wolf has a tracker app and can see where David is,” Logan said.
“True, but maybe he wasn’t one of Michael’s men but was hired just to boost the number of attack wolves,” said Zane.
“Hey, what about the wolves your dragon chased off?” Colton asked. “They weren’t taken into custody.”
“What wolves?” asked Zane.
“We spotted them coming from the south and I convinced them to turn around,” said Logan.
“Where did their red dots go?” asked Colton.
“I bet someone deactivated their transmitters which means they’re still out there,” Zane said. “And that means David is still in danger.”
“Slate, do your people know how many dots there were the night Michael attacked?” asked Logan.
“They might,” Slate responded before sending a text off. “I should know in a minute or so.”
Logan’s phone dinged. After reading the message, he looked at Ian and said, “Everything’s set. Steel is sending me the address of a private clinic that has everything you requested.”
“Fuckin’A,” Zane said. “C’mon babe, let’s get that piece of shit out of you.”
“Just a minute, bro,” said Logan, typing out a message to his head enforcer, “I’m arranging for Groose to provide an escort for us.”
Another ding. This time Slate glanced at his phone. “According to the data my men accessed, there were three distinct groups of red dots…east, southeast and south…all heading to the Scottish Wolf village.”
“Okay,” Logan ordered, “until we figure out who’s still after David, I want both of you to move in with Kieran and me…there’s a second bedroom in this suite…which will make it easier for Groose and his men.”
“We were going to get David’s stuff from Morgan’s so he has something to wear,” said Zane.
“Hmmm, maybe we can stop there after we remove the tracker from David,” Logan said.
“It won’t take me long, since I don’t have a lot,” said David.
“Especially with me helping you, babe,” Zane said.
“Zane, go get your clothes from your suite and bring them here. Ian, Colton, be ready to leave in fifteen minutes. Slate, you’re in charge until we get back.
Theo, Norman, Fionn and my mate should be here before we return, so keep them with you and have Maximus stay with Lizzie and Ian’s parents,” said Logan. “Now as my mate would say…chop, chop.”
After everyone left, Logan called Jackson.

Tyson was lounging on the balcony outside his sister’s study, soaking up the sun while he waited to hear Brenda’s plan for the recovery of David.
Staring off into the distance, his mind was contemplating what to do first with his new-found wealth and now, since he had a stake in it, greed filled his soul making him antsy about starting to reap his rewards.
“Tyson,” called Brenda, strolling over to the open doors, “what are you doing?”
“Just getting some Vitamin D,” Tyson answered.
Joining her brother, Brenda sat down next to him, her eyes scanning the sky, before handing him a letter. “Here, what do you think about this?”
Taking it, Tyson slowly read it, then whistled. “Really? It’s that simple?”
“Yes, one of my clients is a lawyer. After he researched the law, he told me the Blackwood Pack doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
If they don’t hand over David, the High Council will seize him and return him to me,” Brenda said, shrugging her shoulders.
“If their Alpha is smart, he won’t put up a fight and if he does, all the better for me. ”
“When are you sending it?”
“My lawyer will be doing it shortly.”
“Is David still in Edinburgh?”
“Yes. I should thank their Alpha for keeping our High Priest safe and sound,” Brenda snickered.
“Do you honestly expect them to hand him over?”
“Not really, but I do think they will approach me with a counter proposal, probably offering money.”
“You won’t take it, will you?” asked Tyson, suddenly seeing his dreams vanish.
“Of course not, but it will be interesting to see how high they’ll go. While I’m dealing with that, I want you back in Edinburgh just in case there’s a chance to grab David from under their noses,” Brenda said, slapping her brother’s thigh before rising.
Not happy at leaving the warm weather behind, Tyson growled, “Why should we do that when the High Council will give him to us?”
“My dear brother, while their Alpha may not fight the Council enforcers, you can bet he will use every legal means possible to delay handing over David to me. Remember, possession is nine tenths of the law. If we have David, my lawyer said the High Council will consider the matter closed.”
Tyson looked up into the deep blue sky once more before standing. “Am I on my own this time?”
“No, silly. As soon as you land, my men will be ready to go. They’re completely loyal to me and have been briefed that you’re acting on my behalf…so you won’t have any problems.”
“Thanks, I’ll call when I have something to report,” Tyson said, before leaving his sister.
Brenda sat back in her chair, closing her eyes, feeling the tension ebb from her body.
Now, with her plan finally in motion, it was a waiting game to see what the Alpha did.
Smiling to herself, Brenda enjoyed being in the driver’s seat, confident she’d get David back, all because of an ancient law.
Who would have guessed, all those free fucks I gave to my lawyer would pay off so spectacularly?
Not me! Now, if only my little brother can handle his part.
A frown marred her forehead as she thought of Tyson; he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.
It never mattered before because something like this came easily to Michael.
Shit, why didn’t he wait in his attempt to kill me, at least until David was back here?
Fucking greedy asshole! I wish I could have seen his face when Tyson told him he was my brother.
You weren’t so damned smart getting yourself killed, were you, you fucking asshole.
Snickering while picturing Michael’s last moments, Brenda rose and headed for her study to activate the bio-trackers and text instructions to the men waiting in Scotland.
