Epilogue

Brian had missed the intruder again—somehow.

For three nights he’d prowled the waters of Loch Ness, looking for the owner of the scent that was driving him crazy.

Now, he was once again standing on his boat, peering into the deep waters, wondering what kind of creature had the ability to elude him so well—even on land.

Each night, he’d traced the creature to the place it climbed out of the water, but when Brian arrived there during the day, he could only tell that the creature had shifted back to his human form.

But where the man went, was still a mystery; there was no trail to follow.

Becoming ever more frustrated, Brian contemplated his options.

After discarding all but one, he headed down below to shower and dress before leaving to seek the Shaman’s help with finding his mate.

Hiding behind a shed at the marina, a lone man stared at his mate who was pacing on the deck of his boat.

When he first caught the scent of the sea serpent, his cock hardened instantly, bringing him to a halt in the deep, dark waters of the loch.

Then he realized he’d found his mate. Cursing the Fates for this distraction, he resolutely swam in the opposite direction.

There wasn’t time for courting a mate when his people were depending on him to save them and their way of life.

Watching his mate leave the deck to go below, he slipped away, knowing that stolen glances of his mate were all he’d ever have.
