Epilogue

Karissa

It ended so quickly, the fight over me, and I still couldn’t believe it. But it hadn’t ended quite as quickly as it could have. As the final Bureau staffer was turning to leave, who should come roaring up on his motorcycle but Marco, the alpha I’d refused.

He hopped off and demanded restitution, for what I had no idea, but he seemed to believe that my new pack should pay him for not getting me.

There were a lot of reasons I’d refused him when I’d tried the others I didn’t like at all.

His cruelty to omegas and animals, his stench of bad breath and body odor, his sneer. But one had me puzzled.

Stepping out from behind my alphas, I tilted my head and studied the male. “You didn’t even want me. You said I was ugly and overweight and no male would be interested unless they were forced to fuck me.”

All the awful things he’d said to me had been in private, of course.

In front of my former pack alpha and others there, he’d been courteous if not warm to me.

So, having these same words thrown back at him in the presence of my alphas as well as Omega Bureau personnel filed the edge off his bravado.

“I-I didn’t mean…that’s not exactly what I said.”

“No? Because it’s what I heard.”

Poe, Vaughn, and Holt moved to stand beside me and their eyes held a flaming rage I wouldn’t have wanted to be the object of. But as tempting as it was, I couldn’t let them kill him. Especially not in front of officials.

“Well you are a fat cunt,” he spat out. “And I only wanted you because I was going to get paid to take you. But you’re not worth it.”

I flung out my arms to try to hold back my alphas, their rage hot, fists clenched.

But it wasn’t necessary because the Bureau staffer who’d spoken to us last, gestured to his companions.

“I think we’ll take this male with us back to headquarters and have a little talk with him.

Also send for the pack alpha who was going to pay him.

None of this is legal, and we’ve let too much get past us recently. ”

The other males grabbed Marco by the arms and dragged him toward their vehicle, while he struggled and cursed. Finally he dug his heels in and demanded, “What about my motorcycle?”

“I don’t think you’ll need to worry about that,” the man holding his left arm informed him. “All your possessions will most likely be the property of the person you wronged. I hope you can ride, Karissa.”

I burst out laughing. “Make sure to get his helmet.”

As the officers drove away with their prisoner, we turned back toward the house. My home. Where my nest lay and the males who had successfully marked me. The door closed behind us and I sighed. “Is anyone else hungry?”

Holt let out a bark of laughter. “Get his helmet? You were something back there, omega ours.”

“I wasn’t scared with you there. And it was nice to learn the Bureau isn’t just about punishing omegas. Overall, a good day, wouldn’t you gentlemen say?”

They closed in around me and hugged me. Vaughn finally stepped back. “Let’s go eat my breakfast casserole before it dries out. I have a feeling we’re all going to need our energy today.”

Looking around at my new mates, I nodded. Whatever unfolded from here, I had been mated and marked and I supposed that meant I had fulfilled at least part of my purpose as an omega. And one day, if Fate allowed, I’d have babies to fill our home with happiness.

“The one thing I am wondering about,” I said, “is with Vaughn taking such good care of us all, what is there for me to do?”

“Anything you want, omega,” Holt said. “You have our support.”

I considered. “Well, I guess I’d better start by learning how to ride my new motorcycle. Then we’ll see from there.”
