18. Chapter Eighteen
Chapter Eighteen
Griffin's Beach Felicity
F elicity swings the clubhouse door open with a level of rage that seems to keep topping itself. As she tried to busy herself alone in the house for the past week, she started to go stir crazy. While cleaning up, she found a box of condoms in Gavin's room. Hidden under the bed. And now as he stands at the bar with a brunette she doesn't recognize, his hand in her back pocket, it only adds fuel to the fire.
"Gavin Diesel Short!"
He whips around and gapes. "Mom? What are you doing here?"
Stomping over to him, she grabs the girl's arm and gets in her face. "Who the fuck are you?"
"Let me go, you crazy woman," she says.
"Mom, let her go," Gavin says, pulling her away. "That's Hailey—"
"Is she the one you have the box of condoms for?" she interrupts. "You better make sure to wrap your shit if the fact your sister being pregnant at sixteen hasn't scared you away from jumping on the first whore you find."
Hailey's jaw drops. "Excuse me?"
"Where the fuck did she come from?"
"She's staying with Lex and Colt," Gavin says, his eyes angrier than Felicity expects.
The couple in question hurries into the main room, adjusting their clothes, and Felicity just shakes her head. "You!"
"What the hell did I do now?" Lex asks and looks at Hailey with concern. "What's wrong? What happened?"
"She grabbed my arm and called me a whore."
Lex whips around to face Felicity, and for the first time in years, a small tremble of fear settles in Felicity's stomach. "You did what?"
"Keep your whore away from my son!"
"Mom, stop!" Gavin pleads, pulling her backwards as Lex winds up.
Melanie, Jace's girlfriend and Lex's hype woman, steps towards them. "Aren't you the teen mom with a pregnant teen at home? Not sure you should be calling anyone a whore. Not unless you're looking in a mirror, sweetheart."
She glares at the box blonde. "Well, if we're going to talk about whores—"
"Shut the fuck up, Felicity," Lex jumps in. "Your issue isn't with Melanie, and it sure as hell isn't with Hailey. But if you ever lay a hand on her or call her any type of derogatory name again, I'll knock your ass out."
Lost to her rage, Felicity swings and manages to hit Lex in the jaw, knocking her backwards a few steps. Gavin's not quick enough to pull her out of the way, and Lex lunges at her, knocking her to the ground. She straddles Felicity, and pain shoots through her face as Lex gets three solid hits in before she's pulled off.
Fuck, that was actually really stupid. Why the hell did I think she wouldn't hit me back?
"Mom, are you stupid?" Gavin shouts. "She will kill you!"
Scrambling to her feet, she wipes the blood from her lip and nose to see Lex shaking everything off. Her eyes lock with Felicity, and she says, "You want nothing to do with Ky anymore, so get the fuck out of this clubhouse. The only thing you want to do is cause problems, and I promise you, if you don't leave now, you're going to wake up in a hospital bed wondering where two days of your life went."
Laughing, Felicity steps towards her even though her brain shouts at her to retreat. Lex cannot win. Not after everything that's happened. "I'm not sure you have the authority to tell me if I'm allowed in here or not considering how many times you've left and come back. Left and come back. Left and come back. They should install a revolving door just for the Drifters' Princess at this point."
"Whatever, Felicity."
"No, you don't get to be indignant when you're nothing but a fucking bitch who runs away whenever things get hard. Did something happen in Summerville? Is that why you came crawling back here with your tail between your legs? Because the last I heard, you had to run away from us to heal. Gotta be pretty hard to heal when you rip all the self-inflicted scabs off yourself, isn't it?"
Lex looks ready to murder her, but Felicity refuses to back down. "Get out, or you will push me past the point of no return. I know a hell of a lot more than you want me to. Keep pushing me and see how quickly I knock you off that fucking podium you've got yourself perched so high up on. At this point, it's damn near up your ass, so just turn around and waddle your way out of here."
"Probably in your best interest," Melanie says. "You might get a few others in this room in trouble, too, if you don't. Then you really won't have anyone left."
"Fuck you, Melanie!" she shouts. "And you know what, Lex? Fuck you, too. You don't have the balls you think you do."
Lex's eyebrows lift, and she crosses her arms under her chest with a smirk that pisses Felicity off. It also pisses her off that the one hit she got in didn't even break the skin on Lex's jaw.
"You really wanna do this? Because everyone in here, including Rocco who fucking hates me, knows I have balls the size of fucking Texas. You want to see if I'll do it, just say the word. But you're the one popping the top off the can of peanuts, bitch, not me."
"I call bullshit."
Nodding, she looks around the room before landing back on Felicity. "Funny to see you standing in the Deranged Drifters’ clubhouse when about a year ago you were leading the charge to grab your kids and hightail it out of town, never to see your man again. You planned to change your names and start over, which I think is really fucking interesting considering that most of the women in this club are supported by these men. You'd never find a job without any skills to support you and two kids."
The men start to murmur and look around at each other, but Felicity just shakes her head. "That the best you got?"
"Well, how about the emotional affair you had with Gary from Summerville four years ago? You planned on going out there and fucking him when Ky was too pissed to function when Ashley came back, but then you realized he was just a gas station attendant and thought it wasn't worth your marriage."
Fuck, I forgot about Gary.
"What?" Ky asks, walking up to them. "You... What?"
"Want me to keep going? I got a real doozy Ky would love to fucking hear," Lex says, her eyes never breaking away from Felicity.
Don't do it. Just accept defeat and leave. "Do your worst, bitch," Felicity says instead.
"Okay, you asked for it. Ky, you know how she got all over you about not telling her about what happened with Vicky? Well, I bet she never told you that she had to have a paternity test done on Gracie after she was born to make sure she was yours."
His head shakes like someone just threw a drink in it. "She... Why?"
Oh, fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
"Because your loving and ever-faithful wife went to her cousin's bachelorette party, and she blacked out. When she came to, she was naked but alone in the bed. A month later, when she learned she was pregnant, she didn't know what she'd done that night. Or who. Lucky for her, you are the dad, but she was really fucking worried."
Felicity's eyes widen, and she gasps as she looks from Lex to Ky and back to Lex. "You fucking bitch."
"And you, better than anyone else here, should know just how literal that term can be when it comes to pissing me off. Don't you ever tell me I don't have the balls to put you in your fucking place. Not after the shit I've done for this club. For you ."
"You've just been waiting for the time to share this, haven't you?"
"Don't get pissed at me because you fucked around and found out. For someone who's not usually stupid, you seemed to have forgotten just how dangerous this game is to play with me. I got more, so feel free to keep standing here and telling me I got nothing. That I'm a terrible fucking person because guess what... I've come to the realization that I can't change the mind of a damn person when it comes to how they think of me. But I can prove them right."
Stepping forward, Ky looks at Lex. "Is this all true?"
"Ask her. She wouldn't be so mad if it wasn't."
He turns and looks at Felicity with such hurt. "You were going to leave with the kids? Fuck me... That's why you and Lex have been so icy since before she left for Summerville."
"I wasn't the only one," she says, glaring at him. "Half the women in this club wanted out because the men here couldn't do their job and protect their families."
"No, you were a fucking coward," Tess says, walking up to stand next to Lex. "And Lex put you in your place that day, just like she has today. You and the rest of them. She was one of only a few who had a right to want to get out, but she didn't. She let you talk and have your say before she annihilated your logic. You, specifically, got in her face, and she had one of the best responses I've ever heard."
"What was that?" Ky asks.
Lex steps forward, her nose nearly touching Felicity's, and says, "I was born into this club. You married into it. We are not the same. You wanna fuck, I'll fuck. All damn day."
"I think you need to leave, Felicity," Jennings says. "It's clear that whatever issue you have, you don't want to find a solution. You want to fight, and there's a lot going on here that you don't know. I'm stepping in, and I have the authority to tell you to get your ass out of here. Back the fuck away from Lex. It's mostly for your protection, but selfishly, I don't want flashing lights outside the clubhouse tonight."
She laughs in shock. "You're kicking me out?"
"Mom, just go," Gavin says. "You don't belong here anymore. Not after kicking Dad out."
"So much for family. I won't ever speak to you again, Lex. Go to hell. All of you!"
Turning, Felicity leaves, and she hates the tears prickling her eyes as she reaches her car. As mad as she is, she never expected to get the boot. Part of her thought that once she and Lex tossed a few punches around, things would be fine. But Jennings has a point. She just wants to be mad right now, and she feels she has a right to be. The clubhouse isn't the place to be with that type of mindset.
Fuck it. Lex wins.
