Chapter 38

Thirty-Eight

Violet

After we got home, I plopped down on the couch, smiling as I thought about how much fun tonight was.

While I still hated having to see Jared and whoever the girl was with him, I felt content knowing that I had so many people who would stand up for me.

By the time we got home, there was a for-sale sign up in Jared’s yard, which made me laugh.

I would be the luckiest woman alive if I never had to see him again.

I was off for the next two days, which I was thrilled about because that meant uninterrupted time with Asher and Enzo.

Today had been long and surprisingly taxing, leaving the exhaustion to settle deep in my bones.

I yawned and closed my eyes as I leaned into the cushion, only to be interrupted a few minutes later by strong hands lifting me from the comfy spot I had made.

“Hey, put me down,” I grumbled, frowning at Enzo as he raised his eyebrows. “I was happy where I was.”

“You were falling asleep,” he countered.

“Yes, and I was going to sleep pretty well if you would have left me where I was.”

“Maybe. But not as good as you’ll sleep in your bed.”

“Not if you guys are in there. You’ll start whipping things out, and then no one will get any sleep.” Another yawn took over, forcing my body to relax further in his arms as he walked me to my bed and gently set me down.

“No one will whip anything out tonight. I promise.”

While I was okay with the idea that we wouldn’t be doing anything other than sleeping tonight, the thought of them sleeping in their own beds made me sad. My face must have betrayed my feelings with the way Enzo was staring at me.

“What’s wrong?” he asked softly.

“Nothing.” I shrugged. “I’m just tired.”

“She’s lying,” Asher said as he walked in with a few bottles of water and passed one to Enzo before setting one on the nightstand. “She wants to have a slumber party and doesn’t know how to ask us.”

“While that sounds fun, I am way too tired for any of the shenanigans you two might have up your sleeves,” I replied with a laugh. “This would have to be a slumber only party, because I want to literally sleep with snoring and drool and—”

“Eye masks?” Asher offered, holding one up.

“Yep. Those are a requirement, so if you’re not going to wear one, you don’t get to be invited.” I put my hands on my hips and attempted a stern look as I glanced at both of them.

I hoped they knew I was playing, given my tone, but I should have known that they would be fully on board with whatever I wanted—regardless of whether I was playing.

Asher picked up the box and grinned as he looked through them. I hadn’t looked at what all of them said since I’d been fully committed to the fake eyelashes.

“Let’s see. These are kinda cute. I like the sayings on them,” Asher said, more to himself than us.

“We have snooze, sweet dream, good night, sleeping time, do not disturb, and let me sleep. Hold on, there’s another stack.

” He set the first few down and opened the package to see the others.

His lips curled up into a wicked smile as he read the rest.

“These just got progressively better,” he teased with a wink. “We also have go away, shut up, do not disturb, and leave me alone.”

He lifted his eyebrows and pinned me with a playful look that had the corners of my lips lifting.

“What?” I lifted my hands and tried not to laugh. “I didn’t read all of the sayings before I bought them. I told you, I just wanted the one with the eyelashes.”

“Well, then, I guess it’s a good thing Enzo and I are here to rock the others.”

“You guys are seriously going to wear hot pink eye masks to bed?”

They both nodded as Asher handed a stack to Enzo. They each flipped through them before laughing and deciding on the winners.

Enzo lifted his to his head and then put it over his eyes, making me laugh hysterically as I read it.

“Noted,” I said with a giggle. “I will not disturb you. What did you pick, Asher?”

He lifted his and let his dimpled grin take my breath away as he held up the one that said sweet dream.

“Well, I like it, but you’re going to have to commit to only having one dream tonight.”

He frowned for a second until I pointed to the mask.

“It doesn’t say sweet dreams; therefore, you’re only allowed to have one that is sweet. The rest, if you were to have more than one, would have to be bad.”

“Or, maybe what it really means,” he said, his voice going low as he stepped in front of me and put his hands on my waist. “Is that the rest can be wet dreams?”

I shook my head and let out a heavy breath, hoping he couldn’t see how easily I was affected by the thought of that.

“And that’s exactly why you guys aren’t allowed to stay in here. The last thing I need is you wearing these eye masks and making a mess in the bed.”

“Yeah, because that would be the first time we’ve made a mess in the bed.” Asher chewed his lower lip as I realized he was right. “Come on, Vi, admit it.”

“Admit what?”

“That you want us to stay in your bed and have a slumber party. We’ll be good boys. We swear.”

I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth as I considered it.

“Fine. I guess you guys can stay. But if I don’t get sleep tonight, I’m blaming both of you.

” I pointed my finger at each of them, then grabbed the mask that said, "leave me alone.

" While I loved the eyelash one, this was too funny not to wear.

I put it on my forehead, grinning when they both burst into laughter.

“Noted,” Enzo said with a nod, repeating back to me what I’d said to him when he put his on. “I shall leave you alone for however long you’re wearing it.”

“And once I take it off?” I pressed, knowing that I was doing exactly what I told them not to do. But it didn’t matter because as long as the three of us were together, there would always be constant flirting while we tried to get our fill of each other.

“You’ll just have to wait and see.” He licked his lips and then walked over to the side of the bed he liked to sleep on, pulling his shirt over his head and instantly making me regret my decision to limit tonight to just sleeping.
