STORM
Finally, we’d caught a break. The recon Toby and Grizz had done last summer in South Dakota hadn’t been for nothing. My gut instinct had been spot on about The Hell’s Bells MC.
The dude, RJ, was connected with the club. His uncle had been the president and RJ was his successor, but he was nowhere to be found.
I cut my gaze at Toby. “When you spoke to the pregnant girl, didn’t she say her boyfriend was gone and she hadn’t spoken to him since Valentine’s?”
Grizzly screwed up his face. “When was Toby in South Dakota?”
“Last year,” Toby replied. “Storm asked if I could check out Scornrock and I’d met a young pregnant woman there.”
“I’m betting she’s the same girl Libby’s sister mentioned.” I felt it in my bones. This young woman was the key to finding RJ.
“How do you want us to handle the situation?” Toby asked.
“You’re off the job. I can’t have you there when Grizzly and Libby are there. Somebody might put two and two together. As far as Bridget, Mona , whatever her name is, knows, they’re a couple, right?”
“Yeah, that’s right,” Grizzly replied. “She knows us as Landon and Lydia.”
“Good!” I clapped my hands together. “Let’s keep it that way. She is never to know your connection to the club.” Damn, I hadn’t been this excited since the day Birdie was born. And Chase, of course. But Birdie had been my first baby, so her birth was a little more special to me.
Grizzly nodded. He seemed out of sorts, which wasn’t totally unusual. I recalled my Uncle Matt calling him a grumpy bear way back when he’d found Grizzly. Back then, he was Brent.
After changing his name to Landon, per his request, the dude roamed around with his head down and he only came out of his room to eat. He’d had a huge appetite, still did to this day.
For months, Matt had called him grumpy bear but we’d known he’d been seriously traumatized at his home and had killed his foster parents. What he’d been through would fuck anyone up.
To make matters worse, Grizzly had lost his parents and his older brother had taken off and he never saw him again. His whole life had been traumatic. It was a miracle he could function at all after everything he’d gone through.
Then one day, upon hearing Matt calling him grumpy bear, Raul said, Grizzly is better because he’s intelligent and avoids humans. Uncle Matt had liked Raul’s assessment and that was how Grizzly had gotten his road name.
“I think we’re done here,” I told the others. “I need to talk to Toby and Grizz alone.” I nudged my head toward the door for Track, Boxer, Ire, Lynx, and Dodge to vacate the room.
“What’s up?” Toby asked as the door shut.
“You three didn’t come yesterday. Does that mean you worked through some stuff?” Man, this was awkward as fuck. But I hated dancing around shit. Like, just get it out in the open so we could all get on with our lives.
“Work through what stuff?” Toby flicked his gaze at Grizzly.
“That stuff right there.” I shook my head. “You, Grizz, and Libby.”
“Oh, Jesus.” Grizzly covered his face. “He knows, Toby.”
“Oh.” My friend looked at me for a long second. “Then, yes we did. Do you have a problem with us being together?”
“No problem at all. I’m just over so many fuckin’ secrets. You have my blessing to do as you please, not that you needed it to begin with.”
“Did you hear that, Grizz? We don’t need Storm’s or anyone else’s permission to be together.”
Grizzly grunted, but kept his eyes averted from mine.
“I am curious though. Like how is it going to work?”
“The logistics?” A wicked grin stretched across Toby’s face.
“No! Relationship wise, idiot!” Leave it to Toby to make me uncomfortable. Asshole .
Grizzly stood and pushed his chair back. “Libby and I are a couple, but we have an open relationship with Toby. Anymore questions, Prez?”
“Well, fuck, Grizz. I didn’t mean to offend.” I raised my hands to show I was backing down. I liked how he finally spoke up for himself. “How do you want the club to find out about you three?”
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of it.” And with that, Grizzly left the room.
“He’s still adjusting to us all being together,” Toby said.
“Understandable. So how long have you been bi?” I asked. “I’m just curious.”
“Since high school. You were my first crush.” He winked and got to his feet. “I really wanted to suck your long, thick dick.”
My jaw dropped. “Get the fuck out!” I pointed to the door.
“Yeah, I thought you’d be uncomfortable knowing I used to watch you in the shower room. You were pretty hot then and now.”
“You’re fuckin’ with me, aren’t you?” I didn’t care what other people did, but I was a straight, no freaky-kinky shit kind of man, and I didn’t appreciate any man jerking his junk off with me as his muse.
“I don’t know. Am I?” Toby belted out a hearty laugh and left the room.
I slumped in my seat, glad to know Grizzly and Libby could be with Toby in public. Er, at least in the club. Not sure how open they would be in town or anywhere else. Societal norms wouldn’t approve of the three of them being in a relationship. But I said, who the fuck cares?
Now, I needed to find my Angel and fuck her so hard to get what Toby said about me being his first crush out of my goddamn head.
I loved the dude like a brother, nothing more.
