Chapter Fifteen Ezra #2
“Because I cared that you didn’t want to go to the wedding with me, even though I know why you said what you did. You were trying to keep suspicions off us, which I appreciate. And . . . and . . . ugh. I don’t know. I just had a moment. A total girl moment. It was dumb.”
I push off the car until I’m standing in front of her. I reach out for her, tipping her head up so she’s looking at me, because I need to see her when I say this.
“I want to go to the wedding with you.”
She laughs, her coffee-colored eyes rolling back in her head. “You’re just saying that to make me feel better.”
“No, I’m not. I know we haven’t known each other that long, but I’d hope that you know I don’t use my words lightly. I don’t say things I don’t mean. I want to take you to the wedding, Summer.”
Her lashes cast shadows on her cheeks, gaze softening. “Ezra . . . you can’t.”
“I can too. We’re friends, right?”
“Sort of.”
I smirk because I know what she means. We aren’t exactly friends, but we’re not not friends either.
“Well, sort of friends can go to weddings together. Besides, if I don’t find a date soon, I think Odette might set me up with one of her aunts, and I don’t think you hate me enough to let me endure that torture. ”
“I’ve known them my whole life practically. They aren’t that bad.”
“Have you seen them take over the diner on Sundays? They’re menaces.”
She laughs lightly. “All right. That’s fair. I just . . .” She sinks her teeth into her bottom lip for a moment before saying, “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“You know people will talk.”
“Let them.”
For the first time in maybe ever, I mean that. I don’t care if people are talking. I just want to see Summer smile. And that probably means a whole lot more than I’d like it to, but I ignore it.
“But I’m not dancing. Just so we’re clear,” I say.
“Not even the Cha Cha Slide?”
“Not a fucking chance.”
She giggles, then pushes up on her tiptoes and presses her lips against mine.
It’s a sweet kiss. Gentle. But it quickly becomes so much more. Our tongues slide together. Her hands tug at the shirt tucked into my slacks, and mine trail down to her ass, hiking up the little black skirt she’s wearing until I can feel her bare skin against me.
I pull away. “A thong? Really?”
She shrugs. “It’s hot out.”
“I really don’t like the idea of you prancing around in this tiny-as-hell skirt with fucking Warner wandering around.”
She laughs. “Your jealousy is kind of cute.”
“I’m not jealous.”
“You are, too, Ezra. But you know you have nothing to worry about, right?”
I tip my head to the side. “I don’t?”
She shakes her head, nuzzling her nose against mine. “No. It’s just you.”
Even though I knew that deep down, a weight lifts off my shoulders hearing the confirmation.
“Just you,” I echo, and then I take her mouth again.
It’s such a different kiss than our last one. There’s nothing sweet about it. It’s hard, it’s fast, and it gets out of hand way too quickly.
I slip my thigh between her legs, and almost instantly she begins rubbing herself on me.
She pulls my shirt up, her hands diving underneath, fingernails dragging against my skin.
I’m going to have marks tomorrow, and I don’t care.
I’ll wear them like a badge of honor because this is fucking heavenly.
“Oh god.” She moans as she ruts against me. “I think I could come like this.”
“Then do it, Sunny.” I drag her against me again, her ass warm and soft in my grasp. “Come on my leg. Make a mess on me.”
“But you . . .”
“I don’t care about me. I just want to watch you come undone.”
She yanks my lips back to hers as she humps my leg, and I can tell when she’s close. Her movements are becoming jerkier and her breaths growing more inconsistent.
I sneak a finger between her cheeks, pulling at the thin string tucked in there. She groans, pushing herself faster, harder. It spurs me on, and I dive deeper until my finger is pressed against her hole.
It’s all it takes, and Summer’s coming in my arms.
Her shudders and sighs fill the summer night air, and it’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard. It doesn’t matter that my cock is straining against my pants, harder than it’s ever been. Hearing her get off was the most satisfying thing in the world.
When her shakes subside, I drag her mouth back to mine, kissing her tenderly until my lips begin to go numb.
I pull away, and she’s grinning up at me. “Well, that was unexpected.”
I chuckle. “I’m not sorry.”
“Don’t be. I think I’ve had more orgasms in the last week than I’ve had in my entire life.”
“Come home with me. I’ll give you another. Maybe two if you ask nicely.”
She hums happily. “While that sounds amazing, I can’t tonight.”
I’m surprised at the disappointment that courses through me, and I tell myself it’s just because I won’t be getting off tonight. It has nothing to do with missing her. It can’t.
“My dad is expecting me. I haven’t been home much, and if I’m not there to check on him, he might eat a whole pound of bacon just out of spite.”
“If it weren’t for his heart, that’d be impressive to see.”
“That’s what I said.” She shakes her head with a grin. “We’re doing a movie night.”
“This late?”
“Hey, take it up with my boss. He’s the one who keeps scheduling me for closing shifts, though I’m starting to think it’s because he has ulterior motives.”
Boss.
It’s a reminder that what we’re doing is technically wrong, and that if Noah found out, he might actually kill me.
Still, it doesn’t deter me from kissing her again.
When we break apart this time, I step back. Then again. I’m afraid that if I keep standing so close to her, I might keep kissing her.
God, what is wrong with me? Have I really been so deprived of human touch that I can’t even keep my hands to myself for five minutes?
Yes, that’s what it is.
I lead her to her car, opening her door for her. She grins up at me as she slips behind the wheel of the old cruiser.
“Thank you.”
“For the orgasm?”
She rolls her eyes. “And for staying.”
“Of course. We’re good, right?”
“We’re good,” she confirms. “Good night, Ezra.”
“Night, Summer. Text me when you get home.”
She promises she will, and I watch her pull out of the lot before getting in my car and following behind her.
We go opposite ways when we reach town, she toward her father’s and me toward my house. While I usually like being there, tonight I’m not feeling it like I normally would. Not even the idea of eating cereal in bed sounds appealing.
When I pull into my driveway, I sit there, watching my phone, waiting for her text.
It comes five minutes later.
Summer: Made it home.
Summer: Thanks again for tonight.
Me: Anytime, Sunny.
And the scariest part of it all is that I mean it.
