Chapter 9

CHAPTER NINE

Ryker

K ill them all , I tell my bear as he explodes out of me.

I’m pulled into the darkness, watching through my grizzly’s furious eyes as men turn into wolves all around me. I could smell them coming in—wolf shifters everywhere.

Gracie looks terrified as she dives under the table, her beautiful eyes wide with panic. I can feel the protective fury ripping through my bear’s veins. It’s the first time he’s seen her in real life and she’s surrounded by deadly threats.

He snarls as he turns to the pack of wolves approaching from every angle. I’m nervous, but he’s just mad. He’s about to do what he was built for—protecting his mate.

The large brown wolf lunges on my grizzly. My bear is distracted by the sight of our mate hiding under the table and doesn’t react fast enough. The wolf lands on our back and sinks its teeth into our shoulder.

My bear throws his head back, roaring in fury. He whips his head to the side, grabs the wolf’s back leg in his jaws, and launches him into the wall. He crashes through it as we’re swarmed by three more snarling beasts.

Focus , I tell him when he keeps shooting glances at Gracie. Eliminate these fuckers and then you can look at her all you want.

His attention snaps into place and he goes on the offense. He stomps on one wolf and then grabs another one in his massive jaws, sinking his teeth into the back of his neck. He throws him across the room like he’s a pup and then turns and lunges at the three wolves circling behind him. They scatter as he roars.

Over there! I shout as I spot a gray wolf stalking toward Gracie. His body is low, back hair sticking up, and he’s snarling viciously as he approaches my mate.

Gracie screams as the wolf lunges at her.
