Chapter 12 What’s A Mythical Heat?

WHAT’S A MYTHICAL HEAT?

Killian jerked at those words. “That’s... not possible.”

“Why not? It’s a thing, right?”

“It’s...” Killian sighed. “You know those fairytales that your parents or grandparents told you when you were little? The ones that are clearly unreal, but they get passed down through the generations anyway? That’s what a mythical heat is.”

Crush nuzzled his throat. “Let’s say it’s just a story. What is a mythical heat?”

“Okay, so... You know that rabbit omegas go into heat once every four months, right? Heat fertility is sky-high; all it takes is a single load of alpha cum to end the heat.”

“One load on your skin?” Crush grinned.

Killian rolled his eyes. “No! One load inside the hole. Not the mouth-hole,” he added before Crush could suggest it.

“Anyway, rabbit omegas will conceive a litter with alpha rabbit cum, or if they mate with a non-rabbit alpha, they’ll conceive a single baby instead. Either way, conception is guaranteed.

“A mythical heat is a heat that doesn’t end.

Even after conception. Supposedly it happens when an alpha/omega pair matches each other really well.

Soulmates, or fated fuckmates, or something.

The romantics call it soulmates, the pragmatics call it a 100% match in body chemistry and kinks.

When a pair like that gets together, the omega’s heat goes on for days.

There’s a related story where a rabbit omega supposedly conceived 48 babies during a mythical heat.

” Killian shuddered. “That’s fucking scary, if you ask me.

I hope it’s fake. No one knows for sure. ”

Crush was quiet for a while after that. “Huh.” He peeked over Killian’s shoulder at his belly, cupping it with his large hand.

“Maybe my second heat was an anomaly,” Killian said uncertainly. “Or maybe I didn’t conceive the first time around.”

“It doesn’t matter,” Crush said firmly. “We know there’s at least one baby coming out of this. We’ll roll with it.”

“You don’t mind spending extra money on a second child? ‘Cause I think two babies might get expensive.”

Crush kissed his throat again. “Sweetheart. You’ll be giving me pups. A family. Why would I be mad about that?”

Relief washed through Killian, more than he expected. “O-okay. That’s good to know.”

Crush was quiet, his head resting against Killian’s. “Full disclosure: I think I went into rut this time around. I didn’t want to stop until I had knotted you full of cum.”

Killian’s body squeezed around Crush’s knot. “Y-yeah. It felt like you were an animal pinning me down. A predator.”

Crush rumbled. “You liked that?”

Suddenly embarrassed, Killian ducked his head. “Is it bad if I say yes?”

“Bunny. You like the part of me that I can barely control. Were you afraid at all? Because you should be.”

“No,” Killian admitted. “I just raised my ass higher.”

Crush’s laugh was a low, rich rumble that curled Killian’s toes. “I’m starting to think you were made for me. Even now, your body keeps sucking around my knot, trying to take it deeper.”

“I can’t help it! Your knot feels so good,” Killian mumbled. “I could stay knotted like this forever.”

Crush growled; it sent a thrill down Killian’s spine. He brushed his soft lips against Killian’s ear. Then he dragged the breakfast nook table back into place, tugging the plates of sandwiches back in front of them.

“They survived,” Killian said in surprise.

“I moved them out of the way before we got busy. Didn’t think you wanted roast beef smeared all over your belly.”

“Ugh! That sounds disgusting.”

Killian felt, more than saw, Crush’s smile. When he turned his head slightly, he found Crush watching him, a soft, warm look in his eyes.

Butterflies flooded his stomach. Somehow, this felt more intimate than Crush touching between his legs.

The incredible part was, this wasn’t even the first time Crush had looked at him like this today. Whenever Crush held and nuzzled him, Killian felt as though he was the only omega in the world, the only omega that Crush wanted to hold.

It was too good to be true.

How long would it last, anyway? He was only in this cabin with Crush through a stroke of luck. What if Crush found another omega that he liked better?

We’ve only spent two days together, Killian told himself. And one of them was months ago. Isn’t it too soon to feel this strongly about an alpha?

“What’s wrong?” Crush murmured, rubbing Killian’s chest.

Killian could tell him. But what if it made Crush feel obligated to be nice, when he would rather spend his time elsewhere?

So he shook his head. “Just thinking about some things. It’s okay. It’s not something you can help with.”

“Sweetheart, you know I’ll do anything to help you, right?”

Killian’s heart stuttered again. “I—I know. Thank you.”

Crush pressed his lips to Killian’s neck. “Eat.”

He slid over the soda cans; they were somehow still standing. Killian gulped his down, suddenly thirsty.

“Did I go too hard on your mouth earlier?” Crush whispered. “You stuffed me really deep.”

The soda left Killian’s mouth in a wide spray.

“Oh gods!” Killian coughed and spluttered, thumping his chest. “You can’t just say that!”

“Fuck. I’m sorry.” Crush fumbled for some tissues, handing them over. “I thought... Well, I thought you wouldn’t mind discussing these things. You’re a rabbit. Rabbits have lots of sex.”

“Yeah, but...” I feel so self-conscious around you, Killian didn’t want to admit. Instead, he mumbled, “I can discuss things when they’re not about me. It’s totally different when it’s about me, and... when I’m talking with you.”

Why wouldn’t his face stop burning?

Crush rumbled loudly, his knot jerking inside Killian. “You’re so shy. It’s amazing.”

“Oh gods.”

“You didn’t answer my question, though. Is your mouth okay? Your throat?” Crush stroked Killian’s throat lightly, his fingertips gentle and warm.

If he wanted, he could hurt Killian so badly with just one hand. But he didn’t.

“They’re fine,” Killian said. “Feels like they got a workout.”

“Is that because you’re a rabbit?”

“I think I have bedroom superpowers. I can fuck for a long time. So basically... Abilities that are useless in everyday life.”

“Not true. I think it gives you a lot of stamina. You fought for a long time on that sparring mat.”

Killian blinked, realizing that Crush had a point. “That probably saved my hide a few times... You know. Before.”

“I have questions about that,” Crush said. “But not right now. Right now, I want to know if you’ve used your stamina to feed yourself.”

Heat flooded Killian’s face. “Y-you mean, to get me jizz?”

“Yes.” Crush wore an unreadable expression.

“No,” Killian said. “I don’t trust most alphas. I’d rather starve than ask them for jizz.”

The alpha nodded as though he had expected that answer. Hesitantly, he asked, “Would you let me feed you?”

Killian froze. He wants to feed me? “Um. Y-yes. But only if you want to! You mean your cum, right? Not food?”

“In this case, I meant my cum.” Crush’s cheeks turned pink. “But I would also like to feed you some actual food.”

“Oh. I think my stomach is a black hole. You can stuff as much as you want inside—That... That sounded really weird.” Killian buried his face in his hands. “But no jizz in my human food.”

Crush snorted. “No, I’d feed them to you separately. You’ll find that my body will happily wring itself dry to keep you fed. Filled.”

Killian shivered. “Okay.”

“That’s settled, then.” Crush growled, nuzzling Killian’s hair. “Mine.”

There it was, that word again. Crush had said it earlier when they were mating. Killian had rolled around in it like a rabbit in a field of grass. Now, he blushed and stuffed his sandwich into his mouth, unsure what to say. In contrast, Crush finished his food sedately, savoring each mouthful.

“I could reheat your sandwich, if you’d like,” Crush said.

“It’s fine, I’m used to eating cold things.”

Crush grew quiet behind him. “Did you not have enough hot food at the safe house?”

“Oh! I did. I meant, before. When I was living in Colorado with my friends. And... before that. When, uh. When I was... kidnapped. Living with the people who made me work for them. The food wasn’t great.

A lot of the time, it was cold. Sometimes when I said too much, they would lock me up and only let me have the leftovers. ”

Crush growled loudly. “Those fuckers! If I had known about you, if I had known that you needed help, I would’ve gone to rescue you.”

The alpha looked away, suppressed fury in the lines of his face.

“I believe you.” Killian patted his arm awkwardly. “It’s okay. I managed to get myself out.”

“How?”

“A combination of luck and planning. I was always searched before and after the jobs I went on. My kidnappers were a group of alphas that imprisoned me and some other omegas; they were mercenaries doing other people’s dirty work.

I was the best among the omegas there. But that also made them wary of me; they were always expecting me to strike back and escape. ”

“You didn’t try to hurt them?” Crush asked.

“I thought about it. So much.” Killian sighed.

“See, at first they only threatened to break my legs. But then they realized I cared about the other omegas they had captured, so they threatened to hurt those omegas instead if I acted out. Some of them tried to escape anyway; I saw the punishments. It wasn’t pretty.

” He shuddered. “They dragged bodies out of the omega cells, Crush. Sometimes the omegas were kept alive, but whipped bloody. I couldn’t risk that happening to them if I half-assed my escape attempt. ”

“Those alphas, they were the ones who gave you the scars.” Crush had grown tense behind him, breathing slowly like he was forcing himself to stay calm.
