Chapter 9

Gunner

I’ve always liked eating pussy. Not just the taste of it but the overall effect it has on a woman. I like seeing her turned on and wanting more. And Natasa? She was turned on. She was begging me to stop last night, but I couldn’t. I needed more. I needed every last drop of her on my tongue, and I got it, too. I made her scream my name. I made her come so hard I could see her gasping for breath. It was perfect. The whole night was, but when I woke up this morning, she was gone. She was no longer in my bed, and that pissed me off a little.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Nothin’.”

“Why you look so pissed off?” Locke asks. I shake my head and run my hand through my hair.

“I’m not.”

“Don’t fuckin’ lie to me, Gunner. I can see it all over your face.”

“I said I’m not. Drop it,” I tell him. He nods and finishes off his beer before he stands, and I follow. I wave a few of the guys over, ready to get this run out of the way. It’s been coming for a few months, and now is the time. It’s just security, so it shouldn’t be that big of an issue.

“You leaving?” Kiki asks as she wraps her arms around her man while looking at me.

“Gotta get this run over with. Been plannin’ it for a while now.”

“Yeah, I know. It just sucks when you guys are gone,” she adds. I nod my head. I know the girls hate it when we’re not here. They grow accustomed to us being around.

“Won’t take too long. Watch out for Nat, yeah?” She smiles and nods her head.

“She’s good for you.”

“She just got here.”

“And I can already see it,” she says.

“In a day?” I chuckle.

“Yep. I know what I see, Dad.”

“And what is that?”

“That she makes you better. You smiled today.” She grins, pointing at me. I laugh this time when I see Nat coming down the hall. She looks confused as she takes in the room before spotting Rick and heading toward him. He reaches for her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her in for a hug. I’m glad she has a friend like that, but I’m also a jealous fucker. I don’t like the idea of any man, gay or straight, putting his hands on her. She’s carrying my baby and it should be me taking care of her. Shaking the thoughts away, I turn back to Kiki.

“Where’s your mom?”

“She’ll be back today. Why?”

“I don’t want her fuckin’ with Nat.”

“She doesn’t know anything about her yet. I’m sure she’ll think she’s just one of the club girls.” I think about that for a second. It wouldn’t hurt for her to think that, although the thought of anyone touching Nat pisses me off. Locke chuckles and shakes his head before saying, “They know she’s off limits, Prez.”

“They damn well better.”

“Damn, Dad.”

“What? She’s pregnant and needs to rest. She doesn’t need any of them fuckin’ with her,” I remind her. She nods her head as if she agrees with me when she turns to Locke and begins talking. I know they need a minute before we leave, so I step away from them and head toward the door.

“Are you leaving?” I look over my shoulder to see Rick with his arms crossed over his chest.

“Yeah. Got a run to go on. You okay?”

“Yeah. I’m fine. You didn’t tell Nat?”

“Didn’t think I needed to. Why?” Rick rolls his eyes, and I’m confused.

“She doesn’t know you’re leaving. You brought her here.”

“You’re here.”

“And? You brought her here.”

“So you think I should tell her?”

“Yeah, I do. You can’t bring someone into your home and then just bolt, Gunner.” Maybe he’s right. I’ve never had anyone to answer to before. I’ve never had anyone around I needed to tell. I nod my head and walk past him, heading for Nat. I see her and Whip talking, and it makes my skin crawl. She looks up as I approach, and that’s when he makes himself scarce.

“I need to leave for the day, maybe two. There’s nothin’ for you to worry about here. Just eat and rest,” I tell her.

“I can go.”

“You’re not gonna, though. You’re gonna stay here and do what I said.”

“You’re not the boss of me, Gunner.”

“You like to think that, don’t you?” I step closer to her, looking down at her like I could eat her in a second if that’s what I chose to do. She slowly blinks as she stares back up at me.

“What does that mean?”

“It means you’re gonna stay here and wait for me, Nat. I won’t be gone long.”

“It feels weird knowing you won’t be here,” she finally says.

“Kiki is here. The other girls are here. Rick isn’t goin’ anywhere.”

“Doesn’t matter,” she mutters as she looks anywhere but at me. I grab her chin in my hand and force her gaze to meet mine. I lick my lips, catching her attention before smiling at her.

“You know where my room is, baby girl. You’re welcome in there anytime.”

“Even if you aren’t here?”

“Even then.”

“Okay.”

“That’s my good girl.” Then I lean in and press my lips to hers. I let her taste me on her tongue. I fucking kiss the girl like she belongs to me. This is all a mess. A fucking mess my head can’t seem to straighten out.

When I pull away from her, she smiles up at me. That’s what I want to see all the time. The happiness I see in her eyes. She deserves that much.

“Few days, baby girl.”

“Few days.” I nod before I turn and walk away from her, heading for the door. I notice we caught an audience, but I don’t give a shit. It’s none of their business what I do. Rick waves and I give him a nod as I head out the door.

“Playin’ the manly role well, Prez.”

“Fuck off, Remy.”

“No, I like it, Prez. You answerin’ to her and all that,” he laughs. I flip him off, continue to my bike, and climb on. The guys do the same, and we take off, heading toward the warehouse to meet up with our drivers.

It doesn’t take long to coordinate things. We basically had things set up ahead of time, and now all we have to do is run this down to Georgia and come back home.

I let my mind wander as we ride. Thinking about what I’m going to do about Natasa. She isn’t going to want to stay with me forever. Then what? Where’s she going to go? What’s she going to do? I want to know more about her. More about her past. About why she doesn’t talk to her family but there’s just no right way to ask her. She’s closed off about things like that.

We cross the Georgia state line, and that’s when I hear the sirens. Some of the guys take off, but a few linger, knowing we can’t outrun all of them. I glance over at Locke and shake my head, letting him know we need to stop. He nods his agreement, and we watch as the fucking vans we are following take off ahead of us.

We pull over on the side of the road, and the police get out of their cars. I pull out a cigarette and light it up as they approach us.

“Anything illegal on you two?” the first one asks. I smirk. Like I’d tell him.

“Not a single thing, Officer. We wouldn’t travel like that,” I tell him with a smirk in place.

“Step off your bike,” he orders as I inhale nicotine into my lungs. I don’t know these guys. We aren’t friendly with them so I do what I’m told, flicking my cigarette to the ground. I don’t need a charge down here, so I climb off my bike as Locke does the same. The assholes shove on us a little just to throw their weight around as they pat us down. I don’t have shit, but my gun and that motherfucker isn’t legally mine. I smirk when he grabs ahold of it and pulls it from the back of my jeans.

“What’s this?”

“You’re the smart one here,” I remind him with a laugh.

“No time to be funny. You’re going to jail.”

“Kinda figured that,” I add. I glance over at Locke and smirk. At least it was me and not the others. The shipment got away, and that’s what I wanted.

“You have anything to say about this?” he asks as he calls in for backup.

“Not much.”

“Where are you heading with this?”

“Nowhere you’d be interested in,” I tell him. I see the fist before I actually feel it. He balled up and punched me, knowing he could get away with it.

“Get the fuck off him!” Locke yells as the asshole puts me in cuffs and proceeds to beat my ass. He shoves me to the ground and then kicks me in the ribs.

“That the best you got?” I ask the motherfucker. I will remember this asshole, and I’ll make sure he pays later for this. Another kick, and I hear the backup coming. I see the lights flashing as they get closer.

“You motherfucker!” Locke growls.

“Shut up before you end up like your friend.”

The other cop warns him. Asshole yanks me to my feet as the other officers approach.

“What happened to him?” The first one asks, nodding toward my face.

“He resisted.”

“Yeah, but your mom didn’t,” I tell him with a laugh. He starts back toward me when the other one stops him and shoves him back a step. Locke laughs, and just like that … we’re going to jail.
