Thirty-Six
Hale
I stood at the entrance to the kitchen and watched Bay as she checked the food she’d put in the oven, then began buttering bread.
She had taken a shower and changed since we had returned from our walk outside.
The black shorts she was wearing complemented her skin tone and showcased her long legs.
I’d come to tell her we could eat in here.
No need to take the food upstairs. But I was enjoying myself.
There was a gracefulness to the way she carried herself.
She didn’t flaunt her body or give an extra sway to her hips because she knew men were looking.
Her moves were genuine yet still hypnotic.
Maybe it was the fact that she was so fucking oblivious of her effect on others, but the woman was hard to ignore.
She had been since I’d laid eyes on her the night of that flight.
I didn’t like it, but I had wanted to watch her, even then. As had the other men in first class.
She spun around, and I wondered if I had made some sound and not realized it. Her eyes met mine, and then she smiled.
“Hey. I didn’t hear you come in. Do you need something?” she asked.
I shook my head. “No, just came to tell you we could eat down here. The pain medicine is doing its job, and it’s nice to get out of the bedroom.” Where I keep thinking about fucking you.
“Oh, okay. That’s good. I’ll just be another fifteen minutes,” she told me.
“No rush,” I replied. “I was going to go to the cellar and get you some wine.”
Her eyes softened, and she blushed lightly before tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, like she was suddenly nervous. What was that about?
“Thank you, but I don’t need any. Your, uh, selection is too expensive.”
I cocked an eyebrow. “I wasn’t asking you to pay for it.”
She tilted her head to the side and narrowed her eyes. “You know what I mean. I’m fine with drinking the cheap stuff.”
“Well, I don’t have the cheap stuff, so you’re going to have to suffer through.”
A small laugh escaped her lips, and my eyes dropped to her mouth. Damn, she had a fucking killer one. The thought of seeing those lips wrapped around my cock had me stiffening in my damn sweats.
Time to go to the cellar.
Turning before my reaction to her became obvious, I headed to cool down.
Maybe keeping her here longer was a bad idea, but I’d be damned if I was going to change it now. I’d been shot, had a hole through my shoulder, and she was making me happy about it. Was there a problem with that? I didn’t see one.
