Chapter 15 #2

“Let’s call Mr. Lando first before we make food decisions; he might have plans for the girls already,” I said, breathing heavily as I struggled to keep the umbrella up to protect my hair while I strapped Neela in.

The groans came in unison from them as the umbrella began to slip from the crook in my arm making me stand, doing my best to catch it, but it was falling fast.

“Damn,” I said lowly, as I bent down, preparing to pick it up when I noticed the rain wasn’t hitting me. I smelled him. That sweet bourbon and sandalwood scent had me shooting up and turning to see Highland standing behind me, holding his umbrella over us.

“Hi, baby.” His pearly whites flashed before he leaned down and gently pecked my lips.

“Highland, what are you doing here?” I asked, still confused at how he was standing in front of me.

“The foul weather called us in earlier than expected. I was hoping to beat you here so you could enjoy your lunch with Byrdie.”

I chuckled at us both having the same thought of being considerate of each other’s time.

“Byrdie and I were already here having lunch when the rain started. I got the call and walked over to get them. Oh my God, I should’ve called you first. I hope it’s okay that I was going to take them with me. I just realized I was kidnapping your girls.” I covered my now wide open mouth.

Olive, you just be doing shit.

Highland, clearly amused, snickered at me as he nodded.

“Olive, I was about to do the same thing. It’s not kidnapping when you or I pick ’em up. I know they’re safe with you and you know Jo-Jo will be safe with me. Shit, I’m sure even with me here they will want to stay with you.”

“I doubt it.” Highland then leaned to the side, getting the kids’ attention. They all yelled out their greetings to him. To prove his point, Highland asked the girls if they were ready to go with him.

The whines that came from Ceona and Neela had Highland tossing me a knowing smirk as he came back into my view.

“See, they not even thinking about me. And I can hundred percent understand because I’m not trying to be away from you either.” Highland went to kiss me again when Ceona’s voice came out, stopping him.

“Daddy, you can kiss Ms. Liv later; we want to go to BJ’s for our snacks.” She said it so matter of factly that she had me laughing as Highland mumbled low enough so I could hear him say something about blocking ass kids.

“Oh yeah, that was another phone call. They asked for BJ’s.”

“That sounds like Cece’s request for sure. Well, I guess we’re headed to get food. I’ll follow you. Let me get you in the car.” Highland closed the back door, then walked me around to the driver side and proceeded to open mine, ushering me inside.

Ugh, he’s such a freaking gentleman.

“Ms. Liv, I’m tired,” Neela said as she came up to me on the couch, extending her little arms my way, letting me know she wanted to lay on me.

We all ended up back down in the Keys at the beach house after getting BJ’s to-go.

The rain had us all stuck in the house today and I didn’t mind it.

Jo-Jo and Ceona were both sitting at the table playing with Legos.

While Highland and I were snuggled up on the couch playing the question game as he called it.

“Dang, Neela, you don’t want Daddy to hold you?” Highland asked with Neela swiftly shaking her head as she began to climb onto my lap.

“I keep telling you, I give the best cuddles. It’s your fault that you still haven’t experienced them,” I said as I snuggled Neela into my arms.

“Naw, but I got the way to fix that. How about you stay? There’s enough space for Jo-Jo to have his own room.”

Are y’all ready for an overnight, Olive? That’s a big step. You haven’t slept in a bed with a man in years.

Hell no.

“I don’t know—”

Highland cut me off by putting two fingers on my lips.

“Shh… don’t overthink this. We don’t even have to share the same bed tonight. I just want to hold you. Plus, it’s still raining, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable with you driving back to the mainland in this weather, this late.”

I smirked at his words then looked at the wall clock to see that it wasn’t even seven yet.

“Captain, it’s not even mid-evening yet. How is it late? The ferry could carry us across safely,” I said, rocking Neela in my arms. I thought she was sleeping until she heard her daddy say the words that got every kid excited when they had company.

“It’s late enough for you to be leaving me with Jo-Jo in this weather.

Plus the ferry isn’t running in this weather, baby.

You might as well get comfortable for our sleepover because you not going nowhere tonight,” Highland said with so much weight that laid heavily on my clit.

But I couldn’t even focus on that since Neela shot up quickly.

“Ooh, Daddy, we’re having a sleepover?” Neela asked, now full of energy as her voice rang out loud enough for her sister to hear her and come running into the room with Jo-Jo.

“Mommy, we’re staying?” Highland spoke up before I could answer Jo-Jo.

“Yeah, I mean if that’s cool with you.” And before Jo-Jo could answer, Ceona responded for him with so much glee and excitement that had me chuckling and Highland smirking.

“Yes! Oh my gosh, come on, Jo-Jo. We have a big room with a big bed that can be yours. And don’t worry, Daddy will even put a TV in there for you so the room isn’t too dark.” Neela hopped down from my lap, following them as they headed upstairs.

Highland wasted no time, grabbing my waist and pulling me deeper into his embrace, nuzzling his face into my neck. I draped my arms around his shoulders.

“Captain, why do I feel like this was your master plan when you told me to follow you down here today? What are we going to do about clothes and hygiene products for me and Jo-Jo? You not thinking clearly, Highland,” I breathed out lazily, as his mouth started placing soft kisses in a spot on my neck I wasn’t even aware of being affected by him.

“I didn’t plan on you having on any clothes, baby,” Highland said, making me groan.

I was frustrated because he was driving me crazy with his mouth and I couldn’t think straight.

The throb was back on my clit. I swear Highland had superpowers that heard it.

His hands moved lower, slipping under my dress.

He didn’t go inside though, no, he played against the fabric, strumming my now swollen clit between his fingers.

“Uht uhn…” I forced out, pulling his curly hair. He looked up at me, giving a sexy ass, cocky grin that had me rolling my eyes as he applied pressure to my clit. My head fell back and my mouth hung open. I was close and knew he could tell.

This muthafucka is working me the fuck over right now.

“Olive, relax, baby, and let your Captain handle everything. Remember, plans and commands, baby. And I planned for you to be here and command you to be naked in my bed tonight.” I panted lowly, doing my best to control my breathing but biting down on my bottom lip when his mouth found its way back to that damn spot.

A whimper slipped out before my chest began to rise and fall rapidly. My body tensed up as I came—hard.

“High—land. Ssshit. Baby, I’m coming,” I said as low as I possibly could, but I knew my volume level jumped from one to four. I pulled on his hair, hoping for some type of support. This wasn’t fair that I was the only person losing their sense of reality right now.

“Shh… I know, baby. I’m mad as hell that it’s not in my mouth too.

Don’t worry though, I’ma get that later,” he said against my lips before he took possession of them too.

The double tap to my now sensitive clit had me jerking slightly, making me push Highland off me.

He snickered as he sat up but still held on to me.

“If you don’t play nice, this will be your one and only sleepover, Captain,” I said, still struggling to get my breathing back right.

Highland looked me right in my eyes and laughed so hard that it rattled through my chest. “Yeah fucking right. I’m working on making them our nightly routine until it’s permanent.” I blushed as I tucked my lip that he pulled out and placed a tender kiss on.

We were up and moving now. I needed to check my schedule for tomorrow since I would be commuting over an hour away now and would still have to stop at home after dropping the kids off at camp. I went for my purse to get my phone while Highland headed for the kitchen.

I made my way to the bathroom so I could clean myself up.

I noticed I had a missed call from Jasiel.

“Shit,” I said lowly. I hated that I missed his call. It had been a little over a week since we had heard from him, so I made a mental note to call back before Jo-Jo went to sleep. Even though he hadn’t asked about him, I knew he missed his dad.

After I got freshened up, I made my way to the kitchen where Highland was already pulling out food for dinner.

“I can help. While I’m placing my Munchies order of supplies for me and Jo-Jo for the night, do you and the girls need anything?” He turned and frowned at me before walking over and snatching my phone out of my hand.

“Olive, didn’t we just have a talk about me handling this?

I got this. Tunk will be here soon with everything you two will need.

If you want to help though, I got a bottle of wine you can open and pour yourself a glass of.

Here, let me get it for you.” I didn’t even try to protest as I pressed my lips together, trying to hide my smile.

“C’mere,” Highland said as he held his hand out, waiting on mine. He placed a wine glass on the island then pulled my chair out for me. I made my way over to him.

“Now sit here and talk to me while I cook,” he said, then kissed the back of my hand, sending a chill over my body. It was a shame that even had me going.

I waited for the bottle of wine then realized even though he told me to open it Highland was doing that too. He poured and cleared his throat, waiting for me to talk.
