20. Evan

Chapter 20

Evan

The rental Adley secured for me was almost palatial compared to my house in San Diego. When she called to say she’d found a place close to Hudson’s, I rattled off my credit card number and got ready to go. After she sent the confirmation, that was all I cared to know.

But given the neighborhood Hudson lived in, I should have expected it. He told me he and Carrie had decided not to live in the Governor’s mansion, but wanted to give the kids the stability of living in their own home. So when I pulled up to the five-bedroom, six-bath French Country style home with a three-car garage and a swimming pool, all I saw was the quintessential family home, and we’d blend right in.

I was in the kitchen when I heard the garage door open. The soft purr of an expensive car pulled into the bay, and when Hudson put the door down, the ache I’d carried around since he left San Diego eased. It wouldn’t be completely gone until I had him back in my arms.

Leaning against the cabinet, I watched as he strode through the door like he did it every day. And when his eyes met mine, all I could do was smile.

“Honey, I’m home,” he called playfully as he shut the door behind him.

Like the good husband I hoped to be one day, I closed the distance and met him with a suggestive kiss. Hudson wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer as the sweep of his tongue re-familiarized me with his scent and taste.

Hudson’s hands roamed my body until he fisted my shirt. He was as desperate as I was to be together. Even though we’d only known each other a little over a month, I fell the minute he ushered me out of the ballroom to change my shirt.

Having a few hours of uninterrupted time with him was a gift.

Breaking our kiss, I buried my face in his neck. The late-day dark stubble I loved so much was beginning to show. I loved the friction it created against my skin as his handsome face broke into a smile.

Hudson kissed my ear before pulling back. Looking into my eyes, I could tell he was choosing his words carefully. But when he looked at me like that, I felt it in my soul.

“What?”

Hudson studied me a moment, then cupped my jaw. “I can’t get over how easy this is with you.”

I reached for his right hand and brought it up to kiss his palm. “What do you mean?”

“I’m amazed at how much I’ve changed in the short time we’ve known each other. I see the world from yet another perspective because of you.”

He held my face lovingly, and I felt his words down to my soul. “I’m so lucky I met you, Evan.”

My heartbeat was rivaling the pace of a long run.

“I think you’ve got that wrong. I think I’m the lucky one.”

“Then we’re both lucky.”

Hudson paused a moment before continuing. “I know we agreed to give this thing a try, and we don’t know how long it will last with our careers. But I want you to know you’ve rekindled the hope that I could find love again.”

“That’s a nice thing to say, and I’m fucking happy you’re here.”

Hudson leaned into me. “And I’m happy you came. Don’t know why we didn’t think of that a week ago.”

I laughed, thinking about where the idea actually came from.

“What did I miss?”

I stepped back out of his arms. “I’d like to take the credit, but the idea wasn’t mine,” I said, moving to the refrigerator. “It was Preston’s.”

I opened the door and pulled out two bottles of water, then moved back to hand one to him.

“Preston’s?”

“Yep. He asked me why I wasn’t up here with you. Not that nice, though. That was Nick.”

“He really doesn’t like you, does he?”

I huffed. “You know, I think he enjoys giving me the impression he doesn’t like me. Every time I walk in the door over there, he pulls out something for me to eat. What he doesn’t like is my history with Nick.”

Hudson turned to look at me, a serious expression on his face. “Maybe I need to have a word with him.”

I turned to face him, loving his possessive side.

“Hmm. What would you say?” I asked, placing my finger on his bottom lip. I trailed it down his neck, over his Adam’s apple, and onto his chest until I reached the first clasped button. Tucking my finger inside his shirt, I tugged it just enough for him to know I wanted him closer.

“I would say…uh,” he trailed off, breathy and distracted, as I unbuttoned his shirt.

Leaning in, I kissed the corner of his mouth, then ran my tongue over his top lip.

“What was that, babe?”

Hudson licked his upper lip before he looked up at me with determination in his eyes. “I’d tell him you’re mine.”

I kept my eyes on his as I worked each button loose, making my way down his chest.

“I think he knows that.”

When I reached the last button, I tugged his shirt from his pants and continued my work. Hudson reached under my shirt and placed his warm hands on my skin.

“Then he needs to be nice to you.”

I wanted to call him a daddy, but I didn’t care for that dynamic. I didn’t need someone to tell me what to do. Lennox did that enough.

Fucking quarterback.

I needed someone to build a life with. Someone who looked at me like Hudson did.

“I think that’s his way of being nice. You should hear him with his best friend, Alejandro. Nick says they are really close, but anyone listening to them would think they disliked each other.”

When I had his shirt unbuttoned, I pulled it over his shoulder and dropped it to the floor. Hudson raised a brow, making me smile. I knew he was a type A personality and required structure and order in his life.

“As sexy as it is for you to drop my clothes on the floor, I have to wear that home later.”

My heart sank at the reminder I had to tell him goodbye. But I’d take what he could give me, and be happy with it. So I reached down and picked it up, hanging it over the nearest barstool.

“I better remove your pants. Don’t want you going home all wrinkled, do we?”

Hudson grinned. “No wrinkles,” he said, reaching for his belt. But I leaned in and gently pushed his hands away.

“Let me. I want to undress you.”

His eyes met mine. His gray ones matched the heat I knew my blue ones projected.

“I’m all yours, Ev.”

“Good.” I leaned in to kiss him lightly.

Hudson watched as I unclasped his belt, then unbuttoned and unzipped his pants. The waistband of his tight briefs held his impressive erection in place.

“See what you do to me, Evan?” he said, leaning back against the countertop to remove his shoes.

“I’m happy to help with that, Governor. Whatever you need.”

I kneeled in front of him to remove his trousers.

“Step out, please.”

Complying with my request, he ran his hand through my hair before I stood up. I felt his eyes on me as I carefully folded them along the creases and draped them over the back of a barstool. And when our eyes met again, his were on fire.

“Take off your clothes, Evan. And make it quick.”

I grinned and took him by the hand. “Let’s do that in the bedroom. It will be more comfortable than in here.”

Turning, I stripped my shirt over my head and dropped it to the floor. I planned to drop them like breadcrumbs all the way to the bedroom, but Hudson had other ideas.

Curling his fingers in my waistband, he pulled me back against his bare chest.

“I want to watch you undress for me.”

He wanted a show, and so I’d give him one.

I led him to the main suite where the four-poster king-sized bed sat, waiting for us to mess up.

Hudson sat in a wingback chair and crossed his right leg over his left knee. He was calm and collected, but the head of his cock protruding from his briefs was a dead giveaway.

“Is that for me?” I asked, unbuttoning my pants.

Hudson looked down and smirked as I freed myself from the rest of my clothes. “Seems so.”

Raising his hips, he kept his eyes on me as he removed his designer briefs. Once his cock was free, he motioned for me to undress as he lightly stroke himself.

“I could watch you do that all day.”

Hudson smiled. “I’d rather you swallowed it.”

Grinning at my filthy man, I held out my hand to him. “Come on. I want to explore you.”

Hudson took my hand and stood from the chair. He climbed on the bed and rolled to his back, giving himself to me.

Crawling on the bed, I hovered over him on all fours. His hands went to my chest before he began to explore my body.

“Do you know what the sexiest thing about you is, Governor?”

He bit his lip and looked up into my eyes. “What’s that?”

“The fucking confidence you exude and the fluidity of your sexuality. You aren’t afraid of anything, are you?”

Hudson smirked as he wrapped his hand around the back of my neck. “Just one thing.”

“What is it?”

He trailed his fingers through my hair and pulled me down onto his body.

“That you’re taking fucking forever to get your mouth on me.”

I chuckled, then crushed my mouth to his, giving him what we both wanted.

We writhed and moaned as we thrust against one another, the combination of our warm fluids making our movements easier.

I was fine to cum just like this, frotting with my man. But he had other ideas. And when he fisted my hair in both his hands, leaned up, and flipped me onto my back, I was shocked at what he wanted.

“I wanna ride that big cock of yours.”

Shocked at his words, I laughed at his bold suggestion.

But Hudson didn’t take that well. “Why are you laughing at me? You think I can’t handle this big boy in my ass?”

He took my cock in hand and stroked as I laughed harder. That only made him stroke faster. Like he was jacking me in anger.

“Babe,” I said, wrapping my hand over his to slow him down. “There is no place I wanna be more than inside you, but we gotta learn the routes before the coach will put us in. And you’ve been playing flag football.”

Hudson peered down at me, my dick still wrapped in his hand. “Sex is sex, Ellis. It isn’t difficult. I know the route. Your dick, my ass. Put me in, Coach!”

I hauled him down for a kiss and rolled us over until we were facing one another. It was awkward to have us both holding my dick, but whatever. He was touching me, and I’d take it any way I could get it.

“The mechanics of our sex is a little more time-consuming than hetero sex, babe. I could hurt you, and I refuse to do that. I want to take my time with you, and the first time is not going to be us rolling around on the bed, jockeying for position.”

Hudson’s expression changed as he stared at me. “You want to take care of me.”

I leaned in and kissed his forehead. “I don’t want to have sex with you, Governor. I want to make love to you. And make it romantic to show you how much I love you.”

I’d told him in San Diego I wanted to do that with him, but I wasn’t sure he believed me. But his eyes told me he was catching on. The uncontrollable desire had passed, but not the need to be together.

“Okay, Evan. How do we start?”

“One heartbeat at a time. And some rimming.”

Hudson’s eyes went wide as a smile spread across his face. “What do I have to do?”

“Turn over and stick your ass in the air.”

I uncurled his fingers from around my dick, then pulled his hand up to the headboard. “You might want to hold on there too.”

Rolling back, I gave him room to do as I asked. Hudson got on his knees and gripped the headboard. He looked back at me over his shoulder with a smirk.

“Like this?”

I grinned, knowing he was about to lose his mind. “Just like that. But widen your knees.”

Hudson complied, giving me room to do what I needed. So I moved up behind him and placed my index finger on his lower back. He shivered as I drug it down, close to his asshole. But right before I got there, he shot straight up.

“Wait,” he panted, obviously turned on. “Is it… is it clean back there? I mean, I’ve used the facilities today, and I know shit happens, but… oh god! Wrong choice of words.”

I laughed, then pulled him back to my chest. “It’s okay. But if you’d be more comfortable cleaning up a bit, I won’t stop you. But it doesn’t matter to me.”

Hudson nodded. “Yeah, okay. I guess I could, but if it doesn’t…”

Before he could finish his statement, I kissed his shoulder and got off the bed. “I’ll be right back.”

Hudson looked panicked. “Did I kill the mood?”

“No, babe.” I pointed to my dick. “Just getting some supplies from the bathroom.”

“Oh,” he said, releasing a relieved breath. “Okay. Yeah. Supplies.”

I hurried into the bathroom as he leaned over and gripped the headboard. Once inside, I turned on the water to warm up and found a washcloth and some hand towels. Once the water was hot, I soaked the cloth and then wrung out the excess water. Grabbing the towels, I headed back to find him swaying from side to side.

“You dancing without me, Governor?”

He chuckled as I crawled onto the bed behind him.

“I brought you something,” I said, placing the warm cloth against his opening. “This might help relax your muscles.”

Hudson looked at me over his shoulder for a moment. I could read his warm expression, but didn’t expect what he said.

“I want you to know I heard what you said earlier. And I love you, too.”

I leaned over as Hudson let go of the headboard, desperate to kiss him. My hands found his face and reveled in the feel of his stubble against my fingertips. Just like the first time our lips touched, I knew he was meant for me. Felt it deep in my soul, making me desperate to have him.

Pulling back, I kissed his forehead, breathing in the scent of his expensive cologne. As he went to assume his prior position, I stopped him.

“I’ve changed my mind. I want you on your back so I can look at you. Let me make you feel good, babe.”

Hudson’s eyes stayed on mine as I reached for the cloth, then tossed it to the floor. He shifted and lowered himself onto his back. Tucking his right arm under his head, he bent his knees, relaxed without a hint of nerves to be found.

“Is this how you want me?”

“Yes.” I trailed my hands over his thighs, enjoying the feel of his coarse hair against my fingertips. Leaning over, I took his cock into my mouth and ran my tongue around the frenulum.

Hudson threaded his fingers through my hair as he moaned from my sensual attention. And when I popped off his cock, he let go as I moved back and put my hands behind his knees.

“You still with me, sweetheart?”

I didn’t wait for him to reply because I already knew the answer. Hudson was fearless and confident. And that was sexy as hell.

Leaning down, I swiped my tongue across his opening.

“Goddamn sweet baby Jesus that feels incredible.”

I grinned and pushed his legs back further. “Hold on. I’m gonna make you feel so good.”

His moans and gasps were all the encouragement I needed. I licked and sucked at his sensitive skin. I dove in like a starved man and devoured him, much to his delight.

“Oh god, I’m gonna come like the Republicans on Grindr. ”

I laughed and pulled away. “Jerk yourself, baby. And let me show you the stars.”

As Hudson jerked himself, I sucked on my finger, then slipped it inside his channel. Keeping my eyes on him, I watched for any discomfort, finding none. Curling my finger, I found the promised land.

Hudson groaned and jerked faster. And when his eyes rolled back as he released all over his chest, he was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.

Curling my finger once again, I rubbed at his gland one more time for good measure.

Reaching up to his stomach, I ran my fingers through his cum, collecting enough to lube myself up. I wanted some of him on me as I jerked myself to the view of him covered in his release, completely relaxed and sexually sated.

When Hudson opened his eyes and saw what I was doing, a carnal heat filled his gaze.

“Come on me,” he said.

I was too close to argue, and If I waited, I wouldn’t be able to give him what he wanted. So I got to my knees and crawled until I surrounded him on all fours.

Hudson reached for my dick, then pulled back. “Can I finish you off?”

“Fuck, yes,” I moaned. “I love your hands on me.”

With no hesitation, he wrapped his fingers around my cock. With smooth, stroking motions, he coaxed my release from me as my eyes closed and my head went back.

“Hud,” I breathed out as I felt rope after rope leave my body to coat his chest.

Breathing out a heavy sigh, my limbs were shaky and my body heavy. Hudson released me and reached up to pull me down onto him.

“Come here, sweetheart. I want to hold you in my arms.”

I went willingly, amazed that the sticky mess between us didn’t seem to bother him. And when I’d settled with my head on his chest, I told him so.

“God, I can’t get over this! You fucking amaze me, Governor. You’ve just accepted your first rimming experience with a man like it was nothing.”

“You keep saying that. Were you expecting me to lose my nerve? Because that wasn’t going to happen. I want all my experiences to be with you.”

I raised my head and lifted myself onto my elbow. “Are you committing to me, Hudson?”

He snorted. “No. That already happened, Superstar. You’re mine, and I’m yours. ”

I smiled and placed a kiss on his lips. “You’re so fucking amazing.”

“I’m glad you think so.”

“I do,” I said, “but I have one question.”

Hudson grinned at me. “Okay. What’s that?”

“Before we met, had you been staring at my poster on Jack’s wall, lusting after me?”

He raised one brow, making me laugh. “No, asshole. I didn’t start the visual recognizance until I slung my drink on you.”

“And you liked what you saw, right?”

Hudson laughed. “I did. But it was more than that. It was the way you smiled at me. The way you carried yourself and the ease with which you protected me. It’s the smell of your skin and cologne, the sound of your laughter, and the way you scooped my kid up and made him feel special. It’s all the little things you do that you think I don’t notice. That’s why I’ve fallen for you, Superstar.”

“So what you’re saying is, it wasn’t my good looks?” I teased.

Hudson shook his head. “Shut up. God, you’re annoying sometimes.”

I laughed. “Then shut me up, Governor.”

“Gladly.” He rolled me over to kiss the fuck out of me.

After he’d thoroughly shut me up, our conversation went back to the previous topic.

“Seriously, when are you planning to give me the dick?”

“What?” My eyes popped open. “Damn, you’re eager.”

“I’m serious, Evan. This isn’t something I’ll change my mind on. For that matter, I rarely change my mind unless I’m provided with logical evidence that warrants it.”

I ran my hand over his jaw.

“Soon. But maybe you think about a turn with my ass before we run that play.”

Hudson smiled up at me. “You’re a bottom?”

“I’m whatever you need me to be.

21- Hudson

I was in that state of consciousness where I wasn’t asleep, but not quite awake, when my phone pinged with Evan’s text tone. Reaching for my nightstand to collect it, I tapped the screen, eager to read his text.

Evan: I wish you were here.

A photo popped up of my messy-haired superstar stretched out on the bed, the chin dimple I loved calling to me. His bare chest and sculpted torso were on display as the top sheet draped low across his hips.

I was sure of exactly one thing. I was a ver y lucky man to have him.

Me: Tease.

Me: I wish I was there too.

My cock thickened as I zoomed in on the photo, trying unsuccessfully to see more than what was there. His dark chest hair stretched down his torso to his happy trail and led to the nest of neatly trimmed pubic hair. I wanted him in my mouth.

The photo would be the perfect jerk-off material when we weren’t together, but I couldn’t leave it in my camera roll to be discovered.

Closing the text window, I went to my photos and made a new folder. However, naming said folder became difficult, so I settled on inspiration.

Another text popped up.

Evan: What are you doing?

Evan: No photo for me?

Me: Making a top-secret folder for your photography.

Evan: Give me a second and I’ll send you more.

Me: Or you could get your ass up and get over here.

Evan: I like that idea better.

Evan: See you in ten.

Glancing at the clock, it was still early. The kids didn’t have to be up for another half hour.

Me: Hurry. We have less than thirty minutes. If we’re lucky.

That was a calculated lie. It was summer vacation, but I wanted him here as soon as possible. And if Evan didn’t pick up on it, all the better.

Evan: See you in five.

Eager to get up, I smiled and crawled out of bed. After a quick stop in the bathroom to brush my teeth, I slipped into shorts and a T-shirt before heading downstairs to the kitchen.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee permeated the air when the knock came on the door. I hurried, okay, almost ran, to the door like some lovesick fool.

And I guess I was. Thank god no one was around to witness my behavior.

Swinging the door open, Evan stood before me in a sleeveless tank and running shorts. I gave him a quick up-down before reaching out to pull him into the house.

“Well, good morning to you,” he said, wrapping me in his arms.

“Good morning.”

Wasting no time, I shoved him back against the door and blanketed my body with his. Evan laughed as he slid down a couple of inches to make us the same height. I was no slouch at six-foot-three, but Evan still had me by several inches. And I was more than fine with that. I loved this new dynamic we had. He loved surprising me, and I loved his attention. It was refreshing.

“Coffee smells…”

I cut him off with a tongue-tangling kiss and pressed my second brain alongside his. Shifting from side to side, I rubbed myself all over him like a cat in heat as we made out like teenagers. But our make-out session was cut short when I heard Erin calling my name.

“Fuck,” I breathed, pushing off him.

“I’ll be right there,” I called over my shoulder.

Evan let go of me and reached up to wipe the saliva from my face.

“It’s okay, Governor. She knows about us.”

I let out a shaky breath as I willed my cock to deflate. “Yeah, I know. But they’ve never seen me kiss anyone but their mother.”

Regret for bringing up Carrie filled me, but Evan looked unfazed. Still, he could read my expression.

“It’s okay, Hudson. I’m not offended in the least when you bring her up. But I could use a good cup of coffee.”

I reached out and cupped his cheek, then took his hand. “Come on. Let’s go have breakfast.”

His smile lit up every cell in my body.

“You gonna cook for me, Gov? That’s kinda romantical.”

I laughed at his incorrect word. “Yeah, Superstar. I got a brand new box of Wheaties waiting for you.”

Evan released a laugh as we walked into the kitchen, much to Erin’s delight.

“What are you doing here?” she squealed at a pitch only dogs could hear, then jumped into his arms.

I knew exactly how she felt. I wanted to jump into his arms like that, too.

“Hey, girlie,” he said, hugging her. “I missed you guys and decided to come up for a visit.”

“How long are you staying?”

Evan looked over at me, and I smiled. “Three weeks, sweetheart.”

Erin frowned. “But we’re with Mimi and Pops in Seattle next week.”

“I know, sweetheart. Evan surprised me, too. But he’ll still be here when you get back.”

“What are you yelling about, dumbass? And keep who entertained?” Jack griped, striding down the stairs.

I gave Jack a look that said, watch your fucking mouth .

“Me,” Evan replied, smiling at Jack.

My son whipped his head around to see his idol standing in the kitchen again.

Evan walked over and put my son in a headlock, much to his sister’s delight.

“And be nice to your sister. Do you guys have plans today? I know your dad has to govern today, but I was hoping you guys might want to hang at my place.”

Jack struggled a bit before Evan let him go.

“What do you mean, your place? You want us to go to San Diego for the day?”

Evan laughed. “No. I rented a house a couple of blocks over. Thought we might go swimming and stuff until your dad gets through telling people what to do.”

I rolled my eyes and pulled out the cereal and milk.

Jack looked at me, then back at Evan. “Why don’t you just stay with us? We stayed with you.”

I wished. But we had a few hoops to jump through here in Sacramento.

“I’d love to do that, but it’s different here up.”

I looked at my kids, who seemed to be completely at ease with this new relationship.

“You guys wouldn’t mind if Evan stayed here?”

Jack shrugged. “Why would we?”

Evan’s lips turned up in a grin when he looked at me. “You guys know your dad is my boyfriend, right? We’re more than friends.”

Jack rolled his eyes. “Duh. We knew that in San Diego.”

“Right. But me staying here is different from you guys staying with me in San Diego. That was a vacation.”

“Is this your vacation?” Erin asked. “Why can’t you stay with your boyfriend on your vacation?”

I wished it was as easy as they made it sound. “Because we’re a different kind of high-profile couple. There are expectations that come with my job, and Evan’s. No one knows about us except you two, and Adley. And Thomas.”

“Not even my team,” Evan added. “Well, except for Lennox. And he only thinks he knows something.”

“So?” Jack asked, pouring his cereal into a bowl. “You’re allowed to have a life. It’s no one’s business who you love.”

I looked at Evan, who was staring at me. He raised his brows and nodded toward Jack.

Clearing my throat, I was a little choked up. I expected more pushback from them.

“We like Evan, Daddy.”

I looked at my daughter. “I know you do, sweetheart. And I’m really glad you do. But with my job comes the media. And their scrutiny. There will be unkind things posted on the internet, and the kids at school might have some less than friendly opinions.”

I looked at my son. “And I want to protect you from anything that might blow back on you. People are mean when you’re not living in the spotlight. You two have never seen us show any physical affection to one another. How do you know it won’t freak you out?”

Erin and Jack looked at me, then at Evan. But Jack was the one to speak.

“Then show us what it looks like. And we’ll tell you if it weirds us out.”

Evan stood up and came around to where I was standing by the island. He draped his arm over my shoulders, then leaned down to kiss my cheek. I wrapped my arm around him, then looked at my kids, waiting to see how they handled us being together.

Jack stared at me, unseeing. He was obviously deep in thought, and it worried the shit out of me. Instinctively, I dropped my arm from around Evan, wondering if we’d gone too far with this experiment. But he only hugged me tighter.

“Jack?” I asked quietly. Anxiety took over and heated my skin.

My son finally looked at me with tears in his eyes, but what I saw wasn’t anger. It almost looked like relief, but I was afraid to hope.

“Are you okay, Son?”

Jack nodded as Evan remained plastered to my side. “Yeah, Dad. I’m fine.”

He looked over at Evan and pointed to the milk. “Can you pass the milk? And what time do we need to leave?”

I watched, speechless, as he poured the milk over his cereal and began to eat.

“How about after your dad goes to the office?”

As the three of them planned their day together, a sense of relief washed over me. Maybe this was going to be okay after all.

I picked up my phone and sent a text to Adley.

Me: I need to see Anne at 10 am. Can you arrange that, please?

I watched as the dots appeared and then bounced.

Adley: Yes, sir.

Adley: Will Evan be joining us?

I looked over at him, relaxed and engrossed in football talk with Jack.

Me: No. Just me.

Adley: We’ll be ready.

I put my phone down and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I took my seat at the bar next to Erin and had breakfast with my family.

When I walked into the small conference room connected to my office a few minutes before ten, I was determined to leave with a positive outcome. Adley and Thomas were at the table, along with Anne Martin, my Press Secretary and Communications Director.

“Good morning, Governor,” she said, as I took my seat at the table.

“Good morning, everyone. How was your vacation, Anne?”

“Wonderful,” she beamed as I took my seat. “But five days at Disneyland is too much. I’m too old for that. We should have done what you did and gone to the beach.”

I smiled, thinking about my vacation. “Yes, it was wonderful. And that’s partly what I wanted to speak to you about.”

“Adley was telling me about your meeting with Preston James. It sounds fantastic.”

I nodded. “Yes, Preston is very impressive. But that’s not what I want to talk about today.”

Glancing at Adley and Thomas, I looked back at Anne.

“I need your help to navigate a personal decision I’ve made.”

Anne’s eyes widened, and she sat up. “Have you changed your mind? Are you going to run for the presidency, Hudson?”

I laughed. “No. I know that was the plan a long time ago, but not now. However, I am going to make history, Anne.”

She looked confused. “Okay. What are you going to do?”

I sat back in my chair and smiled. “I’m going to be the first openly bisexual governor in the United States. I have a boyfriend. And he’s a football star.”
