36. Evan

Chapter 36

Evan

Seven weeks into the season, our record was six and one. Not a bad start, since it took me some time to get my head on straight. My personal statistics were good, but not up to my standards.

“What’s up with you?” Lennox asked as we left the locker room. “Evan Ellis does not miss passes. You catch the ball and run the fuck over defenders.”

We barely squeaked by with a win against one of our conference rivals, keeping us in first place in the division. And I’d missed several big plays. I wasn’t in denial.

The difference maker today? Hudson wasn’t here this weekend.

“I know,” I said as we walked to the car. “I’m just… distracted.”

“By what?”

I stopped and leaned against my car. Folding my arms across my chest, I sighed and watched as our teammates left the stadium with their families. How much should I tell him?

“Evan,” he called, looking concerned. “Talk to me.”

I sighed and rubbed my neck. “I’ve got a lot on my mind.”

“Okay. Like what?” he asked, gently.

Should I tell him what was running through my head? Would I sound like a big baby to him?

“Well, first, Senator Andrews offered Hudson a position in his cabinet if he wins the election. Then Jack is struggling with something, and I can’t put my finger on what it is. I want to be there for him, but it’s difficult to do five hundred fucking miles away.”

I paused and looked around.

“I fucking miss them, Lennox. This is more difficult than I thought it was going to be, but I can’t tell Hudson because he’ll blame himself. He’ll say he’s not making enough of an effort to be here for me when he’s juggling the fucking state and his kids’ lives while trying to take care of me too. Life just sucks right now.”

Lennox remained quiet, then moved to lean against the car. “I’m sorry you’re going through this, man. Loving someone isn’t as easy as it sounds, huh?”

I laughed humorlessly.

“Loving him is the easiest thing I’ve ever done, but missing him is killing me. That taste of normalcy and seeing what we could be as a family has ruined me. I fucking learned to cook for him, Lennox. He came home to my house every night. The kids hung out with me during the day. I fell in love with all three of them while I was there, and then I came back to my empty house.”

I ran my hands through my hair, dreading going home alone.

“Hang in there. We go to San Francisco on Saturday. Tell Coach you need to go up on Friday for your kid’s game. He’ll understand that. He’s got four of them.”

I nodded and looked back at the door to the stadium.

“Get through this season with me Evan, then decide what you want to do. We’ve got some things to finish and that charity thing at the end of the season.”

I furrowed my brow. “What charity thing?”

Lennox looked guilty. “You know, that thing Laura asked us to sign up for when we won the Super Bowl. That’s months away. Just worry about getting to Hudson. ”

I nodded.

“Yeah, you’re right. I’ll go talk to him.”

“Good. Want me to come with you?”

I smiled at my best friend. “Nah. I think I can handle it.”

“Okay. Let’s go get a burger and play some pool. Me kicking your ass will get your mind off the governor.”

I smiled for the first time in hours. “Where?”

Lennox tapped his lips as if he didn’t already know where he wanted to go. “Coronado. The Slippery Squid.”

I rolled my eyes. “You want a rematch after that Navy pilot kicked your ass, don’t you?”

He shrugged. “Maybe. The guy was an asshole, and I have to show him who’s boss of the billiards.”

“Whatever,” I said, walking toward the stadium. “I’ll meet you there in an hour. I need to call Hudson.”

“Gotta get permission, Clark?”

I laughed and shot him the bird. “No asshole. I just need to talk to my baby. And for the love of god, try to stay out of trouble until I get there.”

He swung open the door to his Porsche and grinned at me. “No promises, Ellis.”

Lennox didn’t listen to me, and by the time I got to the bar, he was three sheets in the wind and had his tongue down a SEAL’s throat.

The thing was, Lennox was straight. Or so I thought.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I asked when we sat down to order our food.

He shrugged. He was so drunk. “Nothing. Paying off my bet.”

I was confused. “Did you just…”

Shaking my head, I rubbed my temples. “Nevermind. I don’t wanna know.”

“You know me, Clark. I’ll make any bet.”

That’s what I was afraid of.

Lennox was right. The coach gave me the option to leave Friday after practice.

The private jet I’d booked touched down at a private airstrip at four-thirty. The pilot taxied up to a waiting car that sat on the tarmac.

After thanking the crew, I grabbed my bag and headed for the stairs as quickly as humanly possible without making a fool of myself. Not sure I accomplished that, because when I reached the bottom of the stairs, Hudson was waiting for me.

“Fucking hell, I’ve missed you,” I said, wrapping him in my arms.

Our mouths came together in the sweetest kiss I’d ever tasted. Hudson’s cologne filled the air as he swept his tongue into my mouth. We lost track of time until Thomas cleared his throat.

“I apologize for interrupting the reunion, but time is of the essence, Governor.”

Hudson cupped my face, kissed me hard once more, then nodded.

“Let’s go. I need to change before we go to the high school.”

I followed him into the back of the car after tossing my bag in the trunk. The dark SUV had privacy glass and allowed me to hold him as close as possible.

“Did you tell Jack I was coming?”

“No. After the last time we had to cancel, I didn’t want to disappoint him if you didn’t make it.”

I nodded. “Good. I’d rather surprise him anyway. Where’s Erin?”

Hudson shifted in his seat and leaned closer. “She’s with my parents. They’ll meet us at the game.”

A low conspiratorial laugh rumbled in my chest as I put the pieces together. “How much time will we have before we need to leave for the game?”

His warm, minty breath flowed along my ear, making me shiver.

“Long enough for you to fuck me fast and hard.”

Another almost giggle erupted from my chest. There was only one way that would happen.

“Did you pregame, baby?”

His eyes lit with fire. “Yes, and it’s rubbing the fuck out of my prostate.”

My nose flared as my dick hardened in my pants to uncomfortable levels. “We need to stop talking about this.”

Hudson chuckled, then changed the subject to less boner-inducing topics for the remainder of the ride.

When we finally made it to his bedroom, I was plastered to his back while my hands worked on his pants, and my mouth latched on to any visible skin I could reach.

Hudson had shoved down his pants as I took his aching length in my hand. The other one found the plug in his ass and pressed on it until he moaned.

“Get naked. We’re gonna have a threesome.”

Startled at his words, I looked up to find my silicone self on the bed. I was momentarily fascinated by my doppelganger while Hudson turned and dropped to his knees.

His groan from the sudden movement made my cock pulse as he worked feverishly to unbutton my jeans and strip them down my legs.

“Next time, sweatpants,” he commanded before he took my dick in his hand and swallowed me whole.

I sucked in a startled breath as my lover took my cock into the back of his throat like he’d been doing it all his life.

“You’ve… been practicing,” I panted as he brought me to the edge.

Hudson popped off my cock, but continued to stroke me as he looked up into my eyes.

“That’s what he was for, right?”

Glancing over at it, I almost came as the visual of Hudson practicing on me, for me, set me ablaze.

I stepped back out of his reach and tore at the rest of my clothes like a superhero, ready for action. I didn’t give one fuck if I ruined them. I just needed inside him before I lost it.

“Get on the bed, baby. Ass in the air.”

Hudson bit his lip, then crawled on the bed to present himself to me.

I ran my palms over his ass cheeks as I looked at the base of the plug. My cock throbbed with uncontrollable desire.

“Evan,” he warned, making me smile.

“Okay,” I said, reaching for the plug. “One question.”

Hudson groaned as I pulled at the base, then dropped his head onto the bed. “What? Make it quick.”

I smiled as I dropped it on the floor. “How much lube did you shove up there this time?”

Hudson laughed but scolded me. “Shut up, asshole, and get in me. Let’s see if you’re still as good as your twin.”

I burst out laughing, which worked to pull me back from the edge, then took my cock and rubbed the head against his hole. Biting my bottom lip, I worked to control myself from slamming into him.

“You’ve been practicing that, too?”

He looked at me over his shoulder, exasperated with my denying him my cock.

“Again, isn’t that what he is for?”

Hudson shook his ass, and I got the message. I’d tease him more later, and maybe ask for a demonstration.

“Evan, for the love of god, if you don’t hurry, I’m going to jump on him and ….”

I took that as my cue to take his breath away. Sliding into his heat, I gritted my teeth as the familiar feel of him filled my soul. I wanted to wrap him up in my arms and fuck him for days, but as usual, we didn’t have that kind of time.

Hudson’s moan and high-pitched whine when I grazed his prostate filled my head. I closed my eyes and savored the feeling of him wrapped around my dick, hugging me in the most intimate way possible.

“I’m close,” he groaned out.

I was right behind him. Three weeks without him always made the first time short. But tonight and Sunday would be more to my liking. Slow and sensual, feeling every ridge and valley in his body as we made love.

Trembling as my orgasm approached, Hudson spasmed around me, clenching hard on my shaft. The sounds he made were an erotic soundtrack that never failed to send me over quickly.

Pumping hard against his hips, I lost control and shoved myself as deeply as possible. I wanted to crawl inside him and never leave.

Hudson collapsed forward on the bed, and I went with him, plastering myself to his back. We were sweaty and spent, but I’d never felt better.

We were quiet as our hearts found their normal rhythm. I kissed the side of his face before he rose enough to reach my mouth. We stayed intimately connected for as long as we could before needing to move.

Hudson glanced at the bedside clock. “We’ve got time for a quick shower, but we’re going to need to hurry.”

I rolled to my back and looked over at the lifesize doll. “What about him?”

He glanced over at it as he got to his feet.

“I’ll put him back under the bed. You start the water.”

Something about that struck me as funny.

“Hudson, do you put him in the bed?”

He grabbed his clothes from the floor and then looked at me. “Only when I’m really missing you.”

My heart squeezed, so I sat up and reached for him.

He stepped into my arms and looked down at me.

“Go ahead. Make fun of me. But sometimes I miss you so badly and I can’t sleep. It’s comforting.”

“He’s your emotional support Evan.”

Hudson grinned. “Exactly. And this is weird.”

He pulled away, but I grabbed his arm before he could get far.

I hugged him to me. “I have those nights too. There’s only so much running or reading I can do to wear myself out.”

Dropping his clothes to the floor, he took my face in his hands. “We need to fix this situation, but I don’t have a better solution than what we’re doing right now.”

I nodded as he kissed my forehead. “Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve never wanted a season to be over like this one.”

He ran his fingers through my hair. “And I’ve never wanted to be governor less. Good thing it’s someone else’s turn.”

It was comforting to know we were on the same page.

“I have enough money that we could live the rest of our lives without having to work.”

“That sounds like a commitment.”

“It is,” I said. “I want to get through the rest of the season, then figure out how to be together. If I need to ask for a trade to San Francisco, I’ll do it. If we need to go to DC, we can do that. I just don’t want to go through another season five hundred miles away from you and the kids.”

Hudson leaned down and kissed my forehead.

“You’re incredible. Do you know that?” he asked.

“Yes. I’m incredibly lucky to have found you.”

If we hadn’t needed to leave, we would’ve been back in that bed. But it seemed like this part of our life was driven by the constant need to go. So we showered quickly and got ready to leave for Jack’s game.
