Chapter 18

Storm was alone. That big bodyguard left her unattended in that palatial hotel room. They’re probably having sex. Gross. I should knock on the door and let her see me. Then she’ll know exactly who it was that tried to poison her. The shock alone might kill her. I wouldn’t mind a front row seat to that.

I could take her hostage and make the bodyguard come and find her. I wasn’t planning on shooting her. Too messy, but I could do it. I could get a gun. I could make him watch, then kill him too.

He wasn’t in my plan. I should stick to my plan, but sometimes plans have a way of twisting and turning, and I can’t get a grip on them again. That was why I moved too quickly and dumped too much poison in Storm’s food. Hasty. I couldn’t afford any more mistakes.

But to take a man that size and make him frightened, that would make me feel better. People would take me seriously, then. No one takes me seriously. Least of all Storm. But she would if I had control of that big man she likes.

I know she likes him. I saw the look in her eyes when she stared up at him. I’ve seen that look on her face before. She can’t fool me. She can deny it all she wants when I question her, but I know. I always know.

The hallway in the hotel was empty. The carpet swallowed up my footsteps. No one would hear me coming. And no one would pay any attention to me. Everyone ignored me.

I could be at her door in seconds. When she saw me… I’d have my revenge.
