Chapter 14 Bane
Bane
I won’t be sexually involved with any of the Club Pussy or any other woman while you’re here.
Me? Celibate?
Normally, I’d say that’s a fucking laugh.
But I’ll do it. Happily, if I’m being honest with myself, because the thought of being able to help Slade feel again has somehow become a craving, a need, and is more important than getting my dick wet.
And I didn’t lie to Slade. I haven’t been with any other woman since I saw her on the gate’s security cameras.
My dick hasn’t stirred at the sight of the near-naked, very willing women, or the filthy, vulgar suggestions that any of the Bunnies have offered, including Sunshine on my way to the kitchen.
She had wrapped herself around me and promised something that would make most men’s blood heat and dick throb, but I set her aside, completely unaffected, and made my way to Slade after Jez had texted me.
After Slade and I finished crushing the midnight junk food, I escorted her back to her bedroom and checked the closet and the ensuite for any hidden threats, plus checked that her window was locked.
She stood with her arms crossed and rolled her eyes like a little brat.
I had the urge to take her over my knee and spank her pert, peachy ass.
Instead, I discreetly adjusted my jeans as my cock hardened at the thought, ordered her to lock her door, and left. The party in the bar would still be going strong, but Slade is an early riser, which means I'm an early riser now, too.
As I walk to my bedroom at the far end of the clubhouse, where the Council’s rooms are secluded from the others, I pull my phone from the inside pocket of my cut, where it sits with the Sig Sauer P365 I always carry.
Opening the Council member group chat, I update them on Slade.
If I read her correctly tonight, she’s doubling down on trying to convince us to let her leave, along with keeping her secrets all to herself.
Slade is back in her room
I still didn’t tell her about the Council vote
Might want to steer clear of her for a bit
“Hey, big daddy,” a husky voice drawls, and I look up, instantly grinding my teeth.
Destiny is leaning against my door, waiting for me.
My glower makes her seductive look fall, and she takes an involuntary step back. I’d never hurt a woman who’s not an enemy, but if she thinks I will, then maybe she’ll back the fuck off.
“Not interested, Destiny.”
Anger flickers over her face that’s heavy with makeup, and those fake long lashes flutter. She’s the antithesis of Slade. The two women are polar opposites.
And my dick is clear on which one it prefers.
“Where’s your current fucktoy?” she sneers.
I stop and tower over her, my look dark. “Speak of a member of this club with disrespect one more time, and you’re out on your ass, Beatrice.” She blanches. “Get out of the way so I can get into my room.”
Her eyes fill with tears, and Jesus fuck, I don’t have the patience for this.
“What’s so special about her?” Her voice wobbles. “Bane, tell me.”
“I don’t need to tell you shit,” I growl low with anger.
“Why only her?” Destiny sounds like she’s on the verge of a breakdown. “You’ve never been exclusive with anyone before.”
I angle my body so Destiny can’t see as I type in the code to unlock my door.
As Council members, we have additional security measures for our private rooms, including soundproofing, reinforced steel doors, fingerprint-activated keypads, and secret cameras monitored by Digits.
Which, by the way, he could’ve given me a heads up that Destiny was waiting for me, the dick.
“Like I said, I don’t need to tell you shit.” I open my door to go into my room, and she looks at me with pleading, watery eyes. “Go find someone else’s dick to suck.”
Then, like the asshole I’ve clearly turned into, I shut the door on her. Heaving a breath, I shove my hand through my hair and push it back, examining my private space.
It’s larger than most of the bedrooms in the clubhouse; only Ash’s is bigger. His room is actually a bachelor suite, complete with a working kitchen. Mine is large enough for a king-sized bed, a chest of drawers, a couch that I never use, two chairs, a round table, and a large-screen TV.
My phone vibrates in my hand, and I read the text from Ash, responding to my brief messages to the group.
Ash: Why should they avoid Slade?
I’m sure she’s planning on trying to convince the Council to convince you to let her leave
Call it gut instinct, but I could almost see Slade’s wheels turning in the kitchen.
And Digits, next time, give me a fucking heads up if there’s a Bunny lurking outside my door
Pix: Pretty sure you can handle the Club Pussy…Daddy
I can see Pix’s taunting smirk, and I grit my teeth.
Pix: And cut Digs some slack; he’s fucking drowning in work
Digits: No need to get all murdery for me, Pixer
Digits: And sorry, Bane, I was distracted because I thought I caught a lead on Slade
Ash: AND??
Digits: It led nowhere
Army: My Marine contact, who’s got a connection to the Broker, isn’t aware of a bounty on Slade
Army: Is it time yet for me to reach out to Len?
Let’s wait for a bit; I’ve made more progress with Slade
Pix: I’m sure you have, Bane
Ash: What the fuck does that mean?
Calm down, Papa Bear
Guilt pushes forth, though, because I’m waking a fine line here with the accelerated progression of how I’m becoming very interested in Slade.
With Ash’s parental protectiveness of her, he might cut off my balls and choke me with them if he knew the dirty visions that have begun to play in my mind.
However, it’s not the concern about my best friend’s violent tendencies, but rather, the reminder of the gold band on Slade’s finger that douses the fire that began to spread in my veins.
Leaving out my ‘deal’ with Slade, I quickly explain, as innocently and in platonic detail as I can, about Slade reacting to me.
Army: You need to tread carefully, Bane, in how much she’s pushed
I know he’s right, because I had seen how the more her emotions had surfaced, the more she started to…leave—that’s the best way I can describe it—before I was able to pull her back.
I’ll take it slow
Ash: Let’s get back to when we’re going to break the news to Slade that it’s a final, Council-sanctioned decision that she stays
Ash: Because by not telling her, I feel like we’re lying to her
Pix: I agree. Plus, if any of the whores get wind of it, they won’t like it and will use it to try to hurt Slade somehow
Pix: But I feel Bane needs to be the one to break it to her
Army: I agree; he’s got the best rapport with her right now
Army: Sorry, Ash
Ash: I know you’re right
Ash: You need to do it by the end of tomorrow, Bane
Ash: We can’t keep it contained much longer; word is already starting to get out
Fucking gossipy bunch of bikers.
I breathe in deeply through my nose, then exhale slowly.
It will be done
Digits: Good luck, Bane
A stone has settled in the pit of my stomach, though, knowing Slade will not take this news well.
