Chapter 20
Endless Summer
The last weekend of summer arrived, and Willow Creek was bathed in the golden light of early evening. Clara and Liam decided to return to their favorite hill—the one where they’d shared quiet nights under the stars.
They spread out a blanket, sitting close, shoulders brushing. The town below glittered in the soft twilight, and the scent of summer flowers lingered in the air.
“You know,” Liam said, looking out at the horizon, “I thought this summer would just be… ordinary. But with you, it’s been extraordinary.”
Clara smiled, squeezing his hand. “It has. And even though summer has to end, I don’t want this—us—to end.”
He turned to her, eyes filled with warmth. “Then it won’t. This summer might end, but what we have… doesn’t have to. I want more moments like this. More adventures. More laughter. More… everything, with you.”
Clara leaned in, resting her forehead against his. “Me too, Liam. Me too.”
The sun dipped lower, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Liam wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, and for a moment, the world felt still—like time had paused just for them.
“I guess we’ve learned something this summer,” Clara whispered. “Love isn’t about perfect days. It’s about the memories we make, the laughter we share, and the little moments that mean everything.”
Liam kissed her gently, a promise lingering in the warmth of the moment. “Exactly. And I want to make a lifetime of those moments with you.”
As the first stars began to appear in the evening sky, Clara realized that summer had given her more than memories. It had given her love—a love that was playful, tender, messy, and perfect all at once.
And though the season would change, the story of Clara and Liam was only beginning.
Hand in hand, hearts full, they watched the sun set over Willow Creek, knowing that some summers weren’t meant to end—they were meant to last forever, in memory and in love.
