Chapter 1 #4
“He was there to see Chevy. She stopped in to grab something, and I guess they got into some argument. If he hadn’t had second thoughts about coming back to talk to her, we might not be here. They had to leave. That crazy ass girl, Kitana, she kidnapped the kids,” Harbor revealed.
“What!” My eyes bugged out.
“Yeah. I don’t know what’s going on. They left out of here in a rush.” She went on.
“This has been a crazy fucking night,” I muttered, shaking my head and pinching the corner of my eyes.
“Tell me about it,” Harbor muttered. “I am ready to get home and get in the bed. I could really use some of Celine’s comfort food. When is she coming back?”
I couldn’t answer that. And right now, that was the last thing on my mind.
I was relieved that my girl, and my seeds were both safe. Kneeling over, I kissed the top of her head and held her close to me.
“I’ll order something on the way and pick it up,” I assured her. “Sounds like you are working from home until this little person makes their entrance.” I seated myself on the edge of her bed and took her hand in mine.
“That’s fine with me. I have a nursery to decorate.” Her smile lit up her entire face, and it made my heart swell in my chest.
I loved this girl. That was one thing that I didn’t question.
What I thought I felt for Ivana couldn’t compare, because it wasn’t the same.
Harbor had my heart so tight in her clutches that she had complete control over it.
She held all of the power, and I was weak for her.
Whatever she wanted or needed, she would get.
Ivy stood not far behind me, hovering and watching us together.
“I’m taking care of you and catering to you the rest of the way. What you want to eat?” I asked, kissing her hand.
“Mexican!” My daughter chimed in. “Enchiladas and tacos!”
“Ooh, that sounds so good,” Harbor moaned like she was having a damn orgasm. “Can you get my clothes so that I can get dressed?” she asked my daughter.
“Well, you did put your life in front of mine tonight, pregnant and all, so I guess I can do you a favor.” Ivy was playful as she rolled her eyes and ducked off into the private bath.
“You are a blessing, Harbor. The best kind because I didn’t see you coming. Thank you for looking out for my daughter and her well-being. She didn’t come from you, but you have shown that she means something to you.”
“She’s a part of you.” Harbor kept her head on the pillow and watched me back with sparkling eyes. “How could she not drive me crazy and make me love her at the same time?” she teased, taking me in while squinting.
“What?” I questioned, admiring her pretty ass glowing face.
“Are you okay?” she questioned, reading me.
Pausing, my gaze drifted off, and I ran my hand down my face stressfully.
“Nothing I want to talk about right now, baby.” I let her know as the door swung open, and in walked a nurse.
She brought her eyes up from her paperwork and halted in the doorway. Her eyes shifted from Harbor to me and back again.
“Harbor Lawson,” she said her name, but it wasn’t like it was a question.
Instead, she said it like it was a revelation. I started looking the cock-eyed bitch up and down suspiciously as she stopped at the foot of the bed. She was built like a fucking tooth, wide and funny looking.
“I have your discharge papers,” the nurse disclosed.
“Don’t I know you?” Harbor asked, looking her up and down.
“Um… maybe. I went to school with your sister, Harmonie,” the nurse declared.
“Right.” Harbor bobbed her head.
Ol’ girl shot a glance toward me before turning back to my woman.
“All of your after-care instructions are here. Take your prenatal vitamins regularly, eat healthy, sleep. No stress, no heavy lifting. Drink fluids. Water, tea, eliminate coffee if you can. If you develop any other symptoms, call your doctor or just come right to the ER,” she instructed. “Do you have any questions?”
“No, thank you. Does this mean that I can go?” Harbor was eager as fuck as she eaed forward to sit up.
Ivy emerged from the bathroom with all of her things in a bag, and Harbor clasped her hands together anxiously in her lap.
“Yes. Your doctor has signed off on everything as well as the attending on duty. You are free to go.”
“Thanks.” Harbor nodded, and the nurse set her paperwork on the bed.
“Congratulations on your baby. Take care of yourself.” The nurse turned to go, but Harbor never took her eyes off the door.
“You a’ight?” I reached for her hand.
“Yeah, it’s just… Harmonie’s friends are all pretty much like her. My sister is a gossip. Major.”
“How about you get dressed, and I’ll go get the car? Ivy, just stay here and help her.” I brought myself to my feet.
“Okay, got it,” Ivy agreed proudly.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about what came next.
Things were getting messy as fuck. I didn’t want to hurt Harbor.
She was in a vulnerable state, but I had to deal with Ivana.
There was plenty unsettled, and now I had to figure out a way to explain this to not only Harbor but Ivy.
That part worried me. My daughter acted hard, but she was very soft and sensitive.
This wasn’t the kind of conversation I thought I would ever have with her, and I knew it was going to take all the strength I had to get through it.
