Chapter 28 Jack

Chapter twenty-eight

Jack

A kind of routine began after that first night together. When we weren’t in class, we’d hang out in Kyren’s room — because it was bigger than ours — doing homework or watching this baking show where you have to guess if it’s food or not.

Tate was suspicious good at it and won every time.

“Do not bother betting against him, you will always lose,” Kyren told me after the first few episodes.

The fact that these two big scary supernaturals were obsessed with a bakery show would have tickled my mom pink. She always liked to tease my dads anytime one of them did something remotely ‘not vampire-like.’

My clothes and the majority of my stuff were still in our dorm room, but every night, I’d curl up between the two of them, enjoying my nightmare free existence.

Xinyi was beyond thrilled by our evolving dynamic.

“Oh my god,” she practically screeched, sitting down next to me at lunch.

“I can’t believe you’re with both of them.

You are living what many women and men can only dream of.

Seriously, I’ve heard them go on and on about how they’d love nothing more than to be squished between that hot man meat sandwich. ”

“Xin,” Iris warned at her place next to her.

“Sorry, sorry.” Xinyi ducked her head in contrition for a brief moment before launching into another tirade, asking questions that made my face redder than the pasta sauce on her plate.

Thankfully, Tate and Kyren weren’t here yet, so they didn’t have to witness my complete and utter embarrassment.

When we’d arrived, they had ushered me to have a seat while they went and retrieved us lunch.

And, while I considered myself to be a strong independent woman who didn’t need no man to take care of her, it was sweet that they wanted to wait on me.

“We’re back.” Tate announced, sitting on one side of me while Kyren slid a tray in front of me and took the other space next to me.

That was another thing that was new. Kyren no longer hovered, watching from a distance with the other vampires. Whenever we were with each other, he always found a way to be next to me. If he wasn’t physically touching me, his shadows were, leaving me in a perpetual state of flustered.

One look down at the tray and I was flabbergasted. They had gotten exactly what I would have gotten myself, down to the green Jell-O, which no one in my family ever understood.

My eyes lifted to Kyren’s with a questioning look.

“I pay attention.” Kyren brushed his lips against my cheek.

Xinyi let out a squeal. “Oh my god, that’s soooo sweet. I didn’t know Kyren was that sweet, did you, Iris? I swear it’s always the quiet brooding ones that are the softest marshmallow on the inside.” Her next words came out muffled as Iris shoved a roll in Xinyi’s mouth.

“You two have Professor Jackass’ class next, right?” Tate asked before shoving a handful of fries in his mouth.

“Yeah.” My shoulders sagged.

Things with Julian did not end on a good note, and I dreaded seeing him in class today. Our relationship had always been strained since that fateful night, but ever since I’d started seeing Tate, things had become more and more intense.

Even though we weren’t together, I still felt guilty, which was ridiculous.

Julian had made it clear that we weren’t and couldn’t be anything.

He was my superior officer, and it wouldn’t be appropriate.

Of course, that wasn’t what he said the night we got together.

Then again, we were on an equal footing that night.

It was the next day when he was promoted that everything went to shit.

Then there was the fact that he claimed he wasn’t jealous, only to say or do something that made him seem like the biggest hypocrite in the world. His hot and cold was giving me whiplash in the worst way.

I admitted I was a bit nervous to go to class today. Kyren still sat next to me and, with our new touchy-feely aspect, I had no doubt that Julian would notice and have something to say about it.

At least my mom hadn’t found out yet. She was the last person I wanted to hear from. She would never let me hear the end of it, hooking up with two guys at once.

I could just imagine the comments she’d make. “Like mother, like daughter.”

I tried to repress the shudder that went through me, but Kyren noticed.

“Cold?” His arm wrapped around my shoulders, pressing me closer to his side.

I shook my head. “No, just a sudden chill.”

Kyren hummed and brushed my braided hair over one shoulder to press his lips to the side of my neck. I was still getting used to this sudden change in him. Where he used to watch me from a distance, it seemed now that he had permission to touch me, he couldn’t get enough.

Not that I was complaining, but it was still a bit overwhelming in some ways.

Xinyi sighed, hearts in her eyes. “I miss new love.” Her eyes flickered to Iris and frowned. “How come you don’t try to warm me up when I’m cold anymore? Don’t you love me anymore?”

Iris sighed and then wrapped her hand around Xinyi’s throat, her voice low against the side of her face.

She murmured salacious words meant for Xinyi alone but unable to miss with our supernatural hearing.

Giving them a faux sense of privacy, I dipped my face over my food, pretending I couldn’t hear her.

Not everyone cared about their privacy, though.

“That sounds like a good idea,” Tate chuckled, a hand on my thigh underneath my skirt that inched higher with each word.

Ever since I put it on this morning, thinking it would quell the ache I felt from last night, he’d been obsessed with touching my legs.

“I bet we can get that heart rate of yours pumping, chase away that cold chill. Don’t you think, Kyren? ”

Before Kyren could answer, I stood abruptly. “Okay, I’m full. Time for class. See you later.” I grabbed my bag and bolted toward the cafeteria door, Tate’s laughter chasing after me.

When I reached the stairwell, a hand reached out and grabbed me, pressing me up against a wall, beneath the stairwell. I tensed, ready to attack, when a familiar copper-skinned, handsome face appeared before me.

“Kyren? How did you beat me here?” I panted, the fight slowly leaving me.

He simply stroked the side of my face with his shadows.

“Oh.” I eyed the shadows curiously.

I didn’t know how exactly his powers worked — none of my dads had powers like his.

Most of theirs revolved around controlling someone with their eyes or voice.

While there was also Rayne’s mind reading and Marcus being able to move the ground beneath our literal feet, there was also Wynn with a power that I was sure my mom appreciated but grossed me out.

The power to pleasure someone without a touch seemed more like a storybook succubus type power than a vampire’s, in my opinion.

“We should really get to class,” I reminded Kyren, moving to sidestep him.

Kyren shifted with me, his body closing in, pressing fully against mine. His eyes dipped to my lips before lifting back up. His hand lifted with his gaze to wrap gently around my throat.

I stood there, letting him touch me, wondering if lunch had made him peckish. A part of me wondered what the other hunters would think of me now, letting a vampire feed on me, almost desperate for it with how they’d trained me to expect pleasure with the pain.

It was that promise that had me only hesitating for a moment before giving into him.

“Kyren,” I breathed out, my pulse racing the longer he stared at me. “Please.”

Something dark flickered across his eyes before it was gone. A moment later, he pressed his thigh between mine, up and against my core.

A mixture of a moan and wince came from me, still a bit sore from Tate last night. I shifted in place, the movement rubbing his thigh against me through the thin material of my panties. Of all the days, I chose to wear the one skirt I owned.

“I want him to smell me on you.” Kyren whispered the words darkly in my ear.

I blinked, taking a moment to realize who exactly he was before answering. “You don’t have to be jealous of him. We’re nothing.”

“So was I,” Kyren ground his thigh against me, making me whimper, “and yet here I am.” His tongue licked a line up my throat. “So wet for me, already.”

“Someone will see,” I argued, though the way I pulsed between my thighs didn’t seem to care.

“Not if you’re quiet,” Kyren murmured against my lips, before flipping me around, my face pressed to the cold wall. “Hands on the wall.”

My lips pressed tightly together as I did what he said. Then, either by his hands or his shadows, my hips were pulled back, until I was offering my ass up to him. Shadows trailed up my thighs like fingers, stroking, dipping beneath my clothes to tease me.

Kyren lifted my skirt, hooked his fingers in the center of my panties, and dragged them down my legs. The cool air of the stairwell made me gasp, then something blunt pressed against my entrance.

“Breathe and relax,” Kyren instructed, pressing forward.

My eyes widened, my breath catching. He might not have Tate’s accessories, but Kyren was thick. Thick enough that I whimpered then let out a little cry of shock when his shadows squeezed my breasts.

“Shhh,” Kyren grunted, his voice strained.

If others were in the stairwell, I didn’t notice them, my entire focus down to the place where he pressed inside of me. A shadow finger flicked my clit, making me slam my lips together to keep from crying out.

“That’s a good girl,” Kyren crooned in my ear, sinking deeper into me. His thickness felt like it was splitting me in half as his shadows kept me on the edge of pleasure.

When his hips were flush against mine, I wasn’t sure I’d ever felt so full in my life. It edged on too much and not enough, and all I wanted was for him to move.

Sensing my desperation, Kyren made agonizingly short, slow thrusts.

The tip of him rubbed against that sensitive part of me inside over and over again.

My breaths came out in quick pants and restrained moans as he worked me over.

My legs shook, and I knew I was going to be able to hold myself up for much longer.

A shadow wrapped around my waist to hold me in place. Kyren plowed deeper, ripping a shout from me. Shadows poured into my mouth, filling it so that it muffled my sounds, and saliva dripped out the sides, giving way for Kyren to pound harder, faster.

My eyes watered, the feeling so intense.

My forehead pressed to the cool stone wall, letting him completely obliterate my inside until a dam broke inside of me.

I was thankful for the shadows because the sound that came out of me was like that of a dying animal, nothing I wanted anyone else to hear.

Everything clamped down on Kyren’s cock, milking him into me until his movements stuttered, and he was coating me inside.

He paused for a moment, letting me pulse around him, my legs weak and heart racing.

Then he withdrew, his shadow still holding up me.

Something dripped down my thigh, and I gasped.

“We forgot protection.”

“No need,” Kyren chuckled, his fingers scooping up what dripped out before shoving it back inside of me. “Vampire, remember?”

I breathed out my relief. I’d forgotten vampire logistics in the heat of the moment.

If Kyren had been changed recently, there was still the chance he’d get me pregnant but, since he was more than a hundred years old, those chances were close to nil.

As a child of a human servant, I should have remembered that.

“You’ll keep me inside of you all day.”

He said the words matter-of-factly, as if there was no room for argument. Usually, I bristled at commands, but I was too worn out to argue. I didn’t know how I was going to make it through this class with my eyes open.

Kyren smoothed my clothes back into place and took my bag, wrapping an arm around my waist. Then, from one minute to the next, we were no longer on the stairwell and were standing at the top of the classroom. Kyren eased me into a seat while I processed what just happened.

“So you can teleport?” I gaped at him in wonder at how advanced his powers were compared to others.

Kyren slid into his seat, shrugging. “I can move through the shadows.”

“And use them as…” I trailed off the memory of what he did to me with those shadows heating my already flushed skin.

“Yes.” The single word was full of heavy meaning. One of his shadows flicked out and brushed against my center.

Thankfully, we were one of the last ones seated, because it hid how I jolted in my seat, crossing one leg over the other. I didn’t know why I bothered to try to hide it, everyone within a ten-mile radius would be able to smell the sex on the two of us.

My gaze swept over the classroom and found Julian. His blue eyes burned holes into my skull, his lips pressed into a thin line, back ridged. I broke the look first, staring at the wall as my face burned.

Why I cared what he thought anymore was beyond me. Yet there was still a part of me that hated to disappoint him. A part that was desperate for his approval.

Not that he’d ever give it to me.

Shoving down those feelings, I forced myself to focus on class and what Julian was saying. Thankfully, Kyren kept his shadows mostly to himself, but he had shifted his seat closer to mine so that every breath I took was of him. It made for a distracting class experience for sure.

When class was over, I expected to get a snarky remark from Julian about how I came to class smelling, except he didn’t even look up from his desk when I came down the stairs. I should have been happy, but his dismissal sat hard in my stomach, giving me a feeling I couldn’t name.

Even with Kyren’s arm around me, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. What was this feeling?
