Wrestlefest XXXVII Live Broadcast

“Can you believe what we just witnessed? It’s going to be hard to follow that match,” Scott says. “Wolf Bennett and Brody Wilder just successfully unseated the Sanchez brothers to become the new tag team champions in a brutal match.”

“Yes, but we’re going to try. Up next is our main event here at Wrestlefest XXXVII.

Mixed tag team action with the EWE Championship on the line.

Brooks Taylor and Savvy Skye will face current EWE Champion Spencer Austin and his wife, Viviana Austin.

That’s right, Spencer is so confident they’ll be able to beat Taylor and Skye that he put his title up for grabs. ”

“That’s a new one, Jude!”

“Indeed. It’s not often we see the EWE Championship on the line in a tag-team match, let alone a mixed tag match.”

“Kind of a risky move if you ask me, especially considering this is a No Disqualifications match. Anything goes!”

“I agree, especially after that confrontation between the two couples this past Thursday when Viviana slapped Brooks Taylor.”

Scott chuckles. “What were you thinking when that happened?”

“I was thinking she’s lucky Savvy Skye isn’t out here right now.”

“That didn’t last long!”

“No, Skye was quick to make her presence known, sending Spencer and Viviana running.”

The announcers are interrupted by the sounds of Spencer Austin’s music ringing through the arena.

“And here comes ‘The Showstopper’ himself, Spencer Austin, and his wife, Viviana,” Jude says as they make their way down the ramp, waving to the crowd, who greet them with a chorus of boos.

“You know, Scott, these two have really been a thorn in Brooks Taylor’s side for a while now.

I’m interested to see how this will go now that the playing field has been evened out with the arrival of Savvy Skye. ”

“Me too, Jude. I think they’re underestimating Skye because she’s been gone, but we’ve seen what she’s been doing since her return, and I haven’t seen a lick of ring rust on the three-time women’s champion.”

“Not just a three-time champ, but still the longest-reigning women’s champion of all time.”

Spencer and Viviana continue to receive a mixed reaction from the crowd as they climb into the ring, only for a louder one to erupt when Brooks Taylor’s music hits.

He walks through the entrance with a wide grin, pointing down the ramp at Spencer and then motioning toward his waist. He doesn’t walk any further, though, glancing back over his shoulder, and his music cuts, replaced instead by Savvy Skye’s.

The crowd roars with only cheers for the first time when she steps into view.

Pausing for a moment, she takes it all in before she looks at him, and they share a smile.

“Ready?” Brooks yells over the crowd. She nods, and they take off down the ramp, sliding into the ring beneath the bottom rope. They pop up to their feet seamlessly, standing face-to-face with their opponents, but the referee steps between them, forcing them apart.

“This is mine, Brooks!” Austin yells over the referee, hoisting the title into the air, and the ring lights glimmer off the belt.

Brooks lets out a breathy chuckle before he ushers Savannah back into their corner. He rips the teal shirt over his head, tossing it into the crowd, and bounces on the balls of his feet.

“Brooks Taylor is entering his twelfth Wrestlefest. Spencer Austin, his eleventh,” Jude Paul says as the two couples stand in their separate corners at the direction of the referee.

“You can’t forget Savvy Skye, who returned only three weeks ago to even out this match for her seventh Wrestlefest,” Scott adds.

“She left the company over two years ago after turning on the man she’s tagging with tonight.

It makes you wonder how that’s going to work, and if she has any other tricks up her sleeve. ”

“That’s true, Scott. The last time we saw Skye, she performed her finishing move, the Heartbreaker, on Brooks Taylor, helping Damian Drake win at Wreck the Halls in 2016. However, since her return, she and Brooks seem to be on the same page.”

The bell rings, and Brooks winks at his partner before he steps through the ropes to stand on the apron. Spencer kisses his wife and does the same, leaving the women to start the match.

“Typically, in a mixed tag match, men face men and women face women; however, these four have said they’d allow mixed opponents if it comes to that,” Jude Paul explains as the two women circle one another.

Savvy takes a step toward her opponent, but Viviana retreats into the corner and slaps Spencer’s chest, tagging him in. She throws a smirk over her shoulder before leaning over the top rope to kiss her husband. They switch places, but Skye refuses to do the same.

“The tag was made, but it looks like Savvy Skye still wants to start this match off against Spencer Austin,” Jude says.

“You got this, Sav!” Brooks calls from his spot on the apron, watching them circle each other.

“Clothesline!” Scott Harrington calls as Spencer charges, but Savvy ducks and hits the ropes. When her opponent spins back around, she nails him in the chest with a dropkick, sending him stumbling back almost over the ropes.

She jumps up, bouncing on the balls of her feet as they circle each other again. Spencer lunges, but she sidesteps and grabs his wrist. She yanks him forward and shoots him into the ropes.

“Beautiful Irish Whip by Skye,” Jude says.

Spencer rebounds, and she leapfrogs into the air, avoiding collision. He rebounds again, off the opposite ropes, but this time she jumps up and wraps her legs around his head. She uses the takedown to launch him into the corner of the ring, where her tag partner awaits.

“What a headscissors by Skye, angled perfectly to land him right in enemy territory,” Scott says, his excitement matching that of the crowd.

Savvy walks toward Spencer, fingers trailing along the top rope as she approaches. She glances up at Brooks, who wears a proud smirk, and he slaps her hand when she reaches out to him.

“Tag made, Brooks is now the legal man.”

“Did you see that look between them before the tag?” Scott swoons. “That isn’t just strategy, that’s a kind of chemistry you can’t fake, and that’s dangerous for the Austins.”

The crowd yells as Brooks meets his partner in the ring.

Their shoulders graze, eyes locked for one beat too long.

The referee gives her the count, but they ignore him, attention focused solely on each other.

His brow raises, and her face splits into a grin, nodding.

Savvy hauls Spencer to his feet and whips him into the awaiting boot of Brooks Taylor.

When he stumbles, Savvy jumps, planting her hands on Spencer’s shoulders and her knees on his back, and drags him down to the mat.

“A brutal backbreaker by Skye!”

“Beautiful combo by the team of Skye and Taylor,” Jude says.

“This duo doesn’t need long conversations. They know what the other is thinking. That’s rare.”

Savvy rises to her feet, meets her partner’s stare, stepping through the ropes out to the apron.

Spencer rolls under the bottom rope, out of the ring, staggering toward the barricade.

Brooks rolls his eyes, but does the same, hoping to bring his opponent back into the ring and finish this quickly.

Steadier on his feet, Spencer picks up his pace, running around the other side and sliding back into the ring.

“Brooks puts Spencer on the run!” Jude calls as Brooks tries to catch up to his opponent. Spencer is ready and waiting, gripping the top rope as he stomps down on Taylor’s head, shoulders, and back. “Oh, the champ suckered him in, attacking Brooks as he tries to get back in the ring.”

Satisfied, Spencer climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Brooks rolls into the middle of the ring, attempting to stand, but when he makes it to his feet, Spencer launches off the top turnbuckle with a flying clothesline, leveling him.

Viviana slaps the turnbuckle beside her, rallying her husband and the crowd, shouting words of encouragement.

Spencer lands blow after blow before whipping Brooks into the ropes.

He leapfrogs and delivers a spinning heel kick to the jaw.

Spencer pulls Brooks to his feet for a belly-to-back suplex, driving his opponent headfirst into the mat, rolling through, and doing it again.

“Spencer with the cover!” Scott’s excitement is palpable. “And Brooks kicks out in two. That was a close call, Jude.”

“Brooks needs to get back to his corner and make the tag so he can recoup,” Jude says.

Spencer pounds the mat in annoyance before he rises to his feet, stalking Brooks. When he finally stands, Viviana lifts her foot to kick Brooks in the head. He staggers into the center of the ring, where Spencer goes for a superkick, but Brooks catches it.

The announcers chuckle. “Spencer’s in trouble now!”

The champion shakes his head vigorously, hopping on one foot, trying to regain his balance. Brooks chuckles, shaking his head, and twists the leg hard, sending Spencer belly-first down to the mat.

“Taylor is going for the Legacy Lock,” Jude Paul says as Brooks grasps Spencer’s ankle.

He wraps his arms firmly around the joint, interweaving his hands to create a headlock that will be almost impossible to get out of.

He twists the foot, applying an intense torque on the joint.

Spencer cries out in pain, reaching for the ropes, but he’s nowhere close.

“The Legacy Lock is one of those submissions you don’t want to be caught in. The pressure on the ankle is intense, and it hurts long after you’re out.”

“Tap!” Brooks yells, but Spencer shakes his head, doing his best to inch toward the bottom rope. His fingers almost graze the rope, and Brooks realizes he’s too close. He releases the hold, only to pull his opponent back to the center of the ring and reapply the Legacy Lock.
