Chapter 41
PATH OF DESTRUCTION
Killian
Music thumped through the speakers in one of the huge party rooms at the Sigma Delta house as my frat brothers and their guests guzzled down spiked punch, beer from red plastic cups, and liquor served by two pledges manning the bar in the corner.
I raked my fingers through my hair and shoved the baseball cap back on my head, pulling the bill low over my eyes as I watched the entrance. Every minute that ticked by was another minute Lexi wasn’t here.
Where the fuck was she?
“Everything is set,” Gage said, his dark gaze taking in my agitated movements. “The security cameras are playing on a loop.”
“Thanks.” I gnawed on my bottom lip until a sting registered, and the copper tinge of blood hit my tongue.
Damn it. I forgot my asshole of a stepbrother had busted my lip.
Gage crossed his thick arms over his chest. “Are you sure you know what you’re doing, Kill? If you get caught—”
“I can handle it.”
Honestly, I was hoping like hell Lexi would decide against snooping around tonight. I’d only said that to convince her to attend the party, but she was standing me up anyway.
A group of girls piled onto the leather couch across the room, giggling as Slate passed out drinks, priming them for the other party downstairs. The alcohol gave them more courage to try out all the sinful things that occurred down there.
“You know I have your back, right? Whatever is going on, I’m on your side.”
My attention fully swiveled toward the brooding guy who barely spoke more than a few words on any given day. The plethora of tattoos and piercings gave him a dangerous edge that most of us in Serpents & Daggers tried to hide. Gage didn’t give a fuck. He wanted people to fear him.
I patted his thick shoulder. “The less you know, the better.”
If I discovered more nefarious shit about my stepfather and confronted him, I couldn’t put my friends in his path of destruction.
When Stan found Lexi in my room, I might have appeared relatively calm on the outside, but on the inside, a storm of fear and anger raged. A few weeks ago, I would have put on a show for him and degraded Lexi to make him believe she was nothing to me.
Not anymore. The thought of hurting her like that made me sick, even if it meant pissing off Stan.
Would he really strip me of the Davenport name and kick me out of the family? And what would happen to my mom?
“There you are.” Lorelei appeared, plastering herself to my side and rubbing her tits against my arm, the top of her flimsy emerald dress drifting lower with her movements. “I’ve been looking for you. I thought we’d head downstairs to the real party.”
Gage smirked behind his cup as he took a sip, watching me squirm.
I extricated myself from her sticky web and sipped my beer. “Lorelei, you and I are not together.”
Her overly glossed pink lips tipped into a frown. “I miss you, Killian. Let’s just have some fun tonight. I’ll let you do anything you want.” She smoothed her hand down her body, her fingers disappearing under the dress. “I’m already so wet for you.”
And desperate. This girl really had no shame.
“You only want me because of my last name,” I said. “Stop pretending it’s anything else and move on.”
Lorelei stopped fondling herself and crossed her arms against her chest, the seductive demeanor vanishing. “You can’t seriously ditch me for Lexi Vega. You two aren’t even in the same universe. We could be so good together—”
I flipped my hat backward and rubbed the center of my forehead, needing to be done with this once and for all. “Do you actually like me, Lorelei?”
“Of course I do.”
“What do you like about me? Besides the sex.”
Her mouth opened and closed as she tried to conjure up an answer. Her brow furrowed, and something like fear flashed across her face. Was she really afraid of losing me? Or the Davenport name?
Finally, she tossed her hands up. “I like everything about you.”
“No, you don’t.” I downed the rest of my beer and set the empty cup on a nearby bookshelf. “Our arrangement is over, Lorelei. Plenty of other guys would love to be your next rung on the social ladder.”
That whisper of fear rekindled in her brown eyes as she regarded me. “Please, don’t do this, Killian. Please. We could have everything together.”
“It’s not happening.”
Utter despair flashed across her features. “You have no idea what losing you will cost me.”
As she pivoted on her stilettos and marched away, my brow furrowed. Why was Lorelei Battenberg so hung up on snagging a Davenport? There were plenty of rich frat boys she could sink her claws into.
While I contemplated the temperamental blonde’s true agenda, Cordelia sauntered into the room in a skintight purple dress that matched the vibrant streaks in her hair, drawing my attention.
Gage’s jaw clenched at the sight of her. “I’ll see you later.” He slipped through the crowd, vanishing like a ghost.
What was that about?
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when Lexi slowly emerged from behind her roommate, sporting a scowl like she’d rather be anywhere but here.
Her auburn hair flowed around her shoulders, and a black dress hugged her curves, garnering too much attention from my frat brothers.
Hot jealousy pooled in my gut as they drank her in, each one practically eye-fucking her.
I bypassed Cordelia and stormed toward Lexi, resisting the urge to punch a few guys on the way.
“Well, I’m here, Kill. Let’s go—”
My fingers dug into her hips as I yanked her into me, earning a cute squeak that sheared off when my mouth crashed onto hers. I forced my tongue between her lips, and she barely put up a fight before melting into me with a low groan. Shit, that sound had my dick throbbing.
Sweetness spilled over my taste buds as our tongues tangled together, blood rushing through my veins. This girl tasted like paradise. She was probably as close to heaven as my tainted soul would ever get.
My palms lowered, smoothing over her ass as I rocked my hips into hers. I didn’t care who saw. In fact, I welcomed it. Everyone needed to know Lexi was mine—even though she would vehemently deny it.
When I finally pulled back, my lips brushing over hers as she gobbled up air, a lusty haze filled her blue eyes. Perfect. Maybe she’d forget all about—
“Nice try, Kill.” Lexi’s words burst my bubble. “All you managed to do was embarrass me.”
“That’s not all I did.” I sucked her earlobe, making her shiver. “I bet you’re wet now.”
The flush in her cheeks deepened, and her gaze flicked to the side as she nibbled on her lip. “Not even close.”
“Liar.” I chuckled at her insulted expression. “You’re doing that thing with your lip.”
“Am not.”
My teeth clenched as I adjusted the severe hard-on now pushing at my jeans. “Are too.” I lifted her palm, kissed the bandage I had applied to her cut earlier, and drew her out of the room. “Let’s go downstairs.”
Lexi swallowed thickly and blinked. “Why do we need to go downstairs? Isn’t that where the, um, more intimate party is happening?”
I gave her a dark grin. “Exactly.”
As I led her down the steps and into the large gold and crimson room decorated with fairy lights, ivy, and silk drapes, her breaths quickened at the debauchery already unfolding. A few couples had shed their clothes and were grinding against each other on the couches.
“Are you freaking serious?” Lexi muttered, turning her head toward me as if the scene disgusted her.
It didn’t. Her pupils were dilated as fuck, and her nipples peaked against the thin satin of her dress.
After we walked down a long hallway, moans echoing behind closed doors, I pulled Lexi into an opulent room constructed of copper fixtures, burnished wood, and leather.
The rich scent of wood polish and lavender hung in the air instead of its usual stench of scotch, cigars, and sex.
Someone must have given the place a thorough cleaning recently.
Black velvet drapes covered one of the walls while the built-in cabinets along another held all types of toys behind the closed doors that would have Red blushing from head to toe.
“Where are we?” she asked as I shut and locked the heavy oak door.
I tossed my hat onto the large mahogany desk on the far side of the room. “Bass’s other office.”
Tons of incriminating evidence about our members was locked in the catacombs below. We kept information to blackmail our own people if necessary. Sometimes murder wasn’t enough punishment for betrayal.
Stan had taken the files I’d stolen from Gregory Banks before I could bypass the security on the flash drive, so I’d have to break into the archives, but I sure as hell wouldn’t bring Lexi with me.
Instead, I figured there could be something on my stepbrother’s computer that might satisfy her for now.
She scrutinized the gothic decor, her heels moving over a plush rug near the fireplace. “Are there cameras in here?”
I sat in the luxurious chair at the desk and turned on Bass’s computer. “They’re not recording right now.” Thanks to Gage, the tech whiz, the feed would play the same scene of an empty office for the next few hours.
She opened a cabinet and found a large television. “If we’re looking for info on your stepfather, shouldn’t we search his office?”
“He doesn’t have an office here. This is the next best thing.”
Lexi grumbled and closed the cabinet, moving across the gleaming hardwoods to a tall lamp in the corner. She clicked it, spilling a soft glow over the black leather couch and mini bar on the left. My mouth twitched as she inspected a small control panel on the charcoal-gray wall.
Sure enough, Red couldn’t help herself and pressed a button. The curtain slid open, unveiling a floor-to-ceiling glass window overlooking one of the orgy rooms currently in use.
Her gasp resonated around the extravagant space. “What is it with you guys and watching group sex?”
The closest participants indulged in a threesome where a female straddled one guy on a chair while another occupied her mouth. Even though most wore masks, I still recognized a few of them.
“Can they see us?”
“Nope.” I choked back my laughter as Lexi frantically stabbed the buttons, and instead of closing the drapes, she turned on the speakers.
Grunts, moans, and slapping bodies carried into the office. Her curious gaze remained glued to the sexual acts as her fingertips gently rested on her throat. Crimson rushed over her skin, and she sucked on her bottom lip, lost in the moment.
Fuck, my cock grew hard again, straining against my jeans. I stood from the desk and strolled toward her, my hand caressing her hip.
“Is this turning you on, Red?”
She tore her attention from the window and scowled, but the lust brimming in her eyes gave her away. “Of course not. Help me close the curtain.”
“I don’t know how.”
Her eyebrows slammed together. “You’re such a liar, Killian. Just do it.”
“You don’t really want me to.” I tugged her to the window, pressing her against it. “You want to watch while I touch you, don’t you?”
“N-no, I don’t.” She shoved her elbow into my ribs, wincing. “And I told you we’re not having sex until—”
My lips brushed her neck, spawning shivers down her back as I trapped her with my body. “You said I couldn’t fuck you with my dick. You didn’t say anything about using my fingers.” I licked her throat, her pulse fluttering. “Or my tongue.”
“I meant you couldn’t do anything at all,” she whispered as my hand dove under the top of her dress, finding her nipple. She bit back a moan when I pinched and twisted.
“But you didn’t specify.” My other hand slipped between her legs, running over her drenched thong. “Mmm... you’re so fucking wet. Let me make you come.” I couldn’t resist rubbing my cock on her ass as I dragged my finger across her entrance.
“Killian,” she groaned, fighting the temptation.
Her breath fogged the glass while she watched the girl drop to the ground and part her legs for one of the males as the other one pinned her arms above her head. Ecstasy spilled over her face as the guy thrust inside her. Their moans penetrated the room, mixing with Lexi’s uneven breaths.
“Tell me to stop, Red, and I will.” She wouldn’t, though. Hopefully. Her pussy already dripped all over my finger, and I hadn’t even been inside her yet. I tweaked her other nipple and sucked her neck, coaxing her. “What do you want, baby?”
