Epilogue
Griffith stood just outside the chapel at Sommerset, his fingers entwined with his wife’s. Even after all these years, he still experienced a quickening of his heart whenever Kallen entered a room.
He smiled down at her, and she returned his smile.
She was still as beautiful as the day he’d first seen her more than twenty years ago.
A few laugh lines graced her face, but her aura still burned brightly around her.
Griffith saw the love she had for him, as well as the happiness reflected of this day.
He glanced at his sister. Deva stood next to Crispin.
She caught Griffith’s eye and grinned. Then Griffith admired at the couple standing before the priest. His daughter glowed with lovely shades of yellow sunshine.
Griffith could not read her betrothed’s aura, but the gaze of the young man gave away what he felt in his heart.
“’Tis nice to know will be a love match,” he murmured into Kallen’s ear.
His wife leaned into him. “Just as we are and always shall be.”
The priest finished speaking and welcomed those gathered to witness the ceremony to now enter the chapel. As the crowd moved inside, Griffith held Kallen back a moment.
“I love you, my dearest love, my wife and my life.” He kissed her deeply. As always, she felt so right in his arms.
“Father,” a voice hissed. “Can you at least come watch the rest of the ceremony? You and Mother will have plenty of time for that later.”
Griffith glanced over Kallen’s shoulder at his son, so like him, and saw the mock exasperation on the boy’s face.
“You’re right, of course. I always make time for your mother.”
He took Kallen’s arm. “May I escort you to a wedding, my love?”
“Only if you promise to behave.” Kallen’s eyes glowed with both mischief and passion as they entered the chapel.
