CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

CHAPTER

TWENTY-SIX

Lana handed Jayson the phone so that he could see what she was seeing. He didn’t know what to think anymore.

Part of him wanted to hate his former best friend with every fiber in his being. Yet, the part that was winning out, all because of Lana’s approach to everything so far, was to forgive him because he was just as much of a victim of Ashe’s bullshit as he was.

He wasn’t sure what to do at this point. Right now, that couldn’t be the shit that took over his mind.

Right now, what needed to be at the forefront of his thoughts, aside from his children and Lana, was the missing girls that still needed to be found before they had another body. Looking at the photos, though, made him wonder about the missing girls and the girl that Ashe had framed Peter with.

Could there be a connection between the two? He didn’t want to think that he could have had a relationship with someone who would traffic girls like that, but thinking about his past now, some things that Peter had said made him think about things Ashe used to say about other girls.

“Lana, would the SA work with a woman or someone outside of their race if they thought it would be beneficial to get their foot into the door, or would they just take out the competition and take over their territory?” Jayson asked, continuing to look at the photo of Peter with the underage girl.

Every single woman in the room stopped and stared at him when he asked his question. Jayson was about to ask what when the women burst into mumbling explicit words at his question.

“Son-of-a-fucking-bitch! Why didn’t I think of that?” Lana stood up and started pacing. “She’d always made snide remarks about how her stepdaddy would sell my ass to the highest bidder or she’d pay to watch his friends take me down a notch or two and ruin me for Jayson.”

Jayson growled when Lana made the statement that she did. That bitch needed to have her ass kicked for years.

“How do we prove all of this? She’s a snake in the grass and it’s obvious she’s got people in high places if she’s managed to get away with this for this long.

I don’t think she just started this after high school.

I think she’s been a part of it for a long time,” Jayson admitted out loud what he was thinking all this time.

“Jayson, what did she want you to do for work when you graduated high school if you’d given up your dream of being in the Army?” Rocky asked the one question he knew was burning in Lana’s mind.

“His finance company. Her stepdad had a business in New York, which is where he was originally from. His main HQ is still out of NY, if I’m not mistaken.

I thought that’s what she was going to be doing, too.

Working for him as his assistant. It’s why she pushed me so hard to work for him.

She had it all mapped out. She’d start out as her stepdad’s assistant, then when I worked my way up, after we got married, she’d become my assistant.

But I don’t remember anything about her dad having ties with a motorcycle club or anyone along those lines. ”

“Okay, Hollywood, reach out to your contact. I need you to get with Kenwood here and get all the information you can on this Ashe chick and her stepdad. Send it to our favorite information guy and see what he can come up with. Tell him we need the information asap and that it may be connected to the SA and missing girls. Kenwood, I need you and Lt. Brown to show the rest of us possible locations that the SA may be working out of or that would look good to hold said missing girls for a period of time,” Sgt. Bueller requested of both men.

“There’s several locations I can think of,” Jayson admitted as he scratched the back of his neck.

“Y-you might also want to do a deeper dive into Rusty’s as well,” Peter admitted as he sighed heavily. “I know she’s got some dirt on that pervy old man. What it is, I don’t know, but he’s in deep where she’s concerned.”

Jayson looked over at Peter and almost wanted to punch the man. As soon as he considers giving him a second chance, the dude says something that has him ready to beat the shit out of him.

Looking over at Lana, he knew that he needed to walk out of the room before he did exactly as he was considering. He handed Lana back the phone and walked out of the room and headed back to his car.

He didn’t stop to think about his actions. He just knew he needed to get away.

After driving around for a bit, ignoring Lana’s calls, he wound up in his parents’ driveway. He didn’t really think about where to go, just went there.

When he walked in, he caught his father’s attention and nodded toward the backyard for them to have some privacy. He knew without any doubt he’d get some damn good advice from his father on how to handle the turmoil in his head right now.

“Daddy!”

When he heard his daughter yell his name, the dark cloud that was making his day cloudy lifted. He engulfed his daughter in a hug and breathed her scent in.

When he looked up, his son was standing there waiting his turn too. He just opened his arm and hugged them both.

He knew, with both of them in his arms, he was in for the fight of his life. He would go to hell and back for these two and their mother.

Most heroes sacrifice themselves to protect the most important people in their life. He knew right then and there why the women went for the villains.

He wasn’t a hero. He was a bad guy’s worst nightmare.

For the three most important people in his world, he was going to burn the entire fucking planet down to make sure he takes out anyone and everyone who would even think about harming his family.

Fuck the hero, he was going to become the villain in Ashe’s world and by God he was going to make sure she paid for any and every harm she’d ever caused his family.
