14. Gabriel
“ Welcome everyone!” Ivy holds the crowd’s attention as she stands behind the podium in a forest green gown detailed with gold embroidering and crystal accents. She looks like a queen as she stands tall at the first annual fundraising gala for her charity, which has already saved over two thousand animals at cat cafes and adoption centers across the country.
A queen with a great rack that most of the people in attendance have probably paid plenty to see but only I, Cole, and Pax get to play with. Sometimes on camera, and too many times to count in the privacy of our bedroom, or on the kitchen island, or in the pool, or…
Better not think of that now or I’ll be sporting wood at a very inappropriate moment.
The crowd gathered includes several of our wealthy—and kinky—friends. Our women have a close-knit friendship, all of them glad for others who understand when they swoon or vent about the highs and lows of having multiple men for husbands.
All of them have made generous donations to get Ivy’s dream off the ground and guarantee its success continues long after she’s around to personally drive it forward. They know her story and why establishing a program for teens that provides a safe place to bond with animals, encourages community over isolation, offers free meals to staff, helps strays find forever homes, builds savings for its participants, and awards scholarships is so damn important to her.
I couldn’t be prouder.
Pax knuckles a tear from the corner of his eye and Cole puts two fingers in his mouth to whistle like we’re at a high-school football game instead of a banquet when Ivy wraps her speech and motions for her official mascot to join her on stage.
If Ivy is our queen, Snowflake is our princess. There’s never been a cat so spoiled in feline history.
By all of us. Even me.
We stopped just short of buying her a diamond collar, though tonight it’s not only her vaccination tag winking in the lights where it dangles at her throat.
Ivy has her arms out, waiting to take her baby from me when she spots the ring we carefully tied around Snowflake’s neck.
“What’s that?” She points, though her lower lip is already wobbly by the time her gaze wings up to mine. Then to Cole’s. And finally, to Pax’s.
His single tear has overflowed and is trailing down his handsome face.
Without thinking, I lean over and kiss it away.
Melody, Riley, Rose, Clover, and Poppy are cheering since shock doesn’t hamper their processing. Gunner, Ethan, Arlan, and several of their husbands whoop or clap each other on the back.
But it’s not a done deal, yet.
“It’s a ring, baby girl.” I slip it off Snowflake then go to one knee. Cole and Pax do the same on either side of me.
Ivy clutches Snowflake to her with one hand and covers her open mouth with the other.
I reach up and take her fingers, drawing them down so I can position the ring just beyond the tip of one, aligned to slide it on but waiting for her to give us permission. It’s not every day someone else is in charge of my fate.
Or at least, that was true before we met her.
“We love you more than anything. Have from the start and will forever. Just like with Snowflake and all the other animals and people you care for, you changed our lives for the better. Filled it with love and laughter.”
“Peace and contentment,” Pax adds.
“And hella good sex.” Cole can’t help himself.
Our friends cheer, because of course they understand.
Getting things back on track, I squeeze Ivy’s hand. “We’ll spend our whole lives doing our best to never let you down and making it up to you if we do.”
“Gabriel.” She’s shaking, causing my name to tremble as it spills from her lips.
“Yeah, baby girl?”
“Ask. Please just ask so I can say yes and put this gorgeous thing on my finger and never take it off.”
Cole snorts and shakes his head. “Damn, I love you.”
“I love you too.” Pax is sincere and solemn despite our shenanigans.
We make a good team. No, the perfect four-way match.
“Ivy, Cole, and Pax…” The guys look at me, surprised when I pull rings from the inside pocket of my tuxedo for them too. “Will you marry me?”
“Fuck yes!” Cole snatches his and puts it on as I hold the other out to Pax and finally slip Ivy’s on. It might be a little outrageous, the diamond dwarfing her thin finger, but we’ve never claimed to be meek.
The crowd erupts in applause as we rise and surround Ivy in a group hug.
Eventually, I murmur to my soulmates, “Be my good ones for the rest of the evening, and we’ll celebrate properly when we get home.”
“I’m sure our fans will want to hear the news too.” Cole’s wicked grin gives away his meaning.
“We can turn on the camera for an update later tonight…” Ivy winks at him then takes her place at the head of the table on the dais like the badass cam girl philanthropist she is.
Later, she reaches across it to stab the last bite of chocolate cake on my plate. She makes up for claiming it by licking every last morsel from the tines of her gold fork.
“What time is this thing over?” Pax checks his watch even though the silent auction hasn’t started yet.
“No rush, baby boy.” I sit back in my chair and sigh happily, one hand on Ivy’s thigh, the other on his, and Cole’s foot getting fresh with us under the table. “We have forever.”
