Chapter 45

S lade had to hide a smirk.

Their girl was staring at the pink fluffy book Spencer had bought as though she was imagining all the ways she could destroy it.

Good luck.

Spencer had multiple hiding spots for the book that she wouldn’t find.

He disappeared with the book while Rock handed her over to him to hold.

“Get bottle.”

Slade stood with her in his arms and carried her to the bed. “Stay right there, Little one. I’ve got to get you something to wear for your nap.”

“I’ll get it!” Spencer ran into the room and nearly banged into a wall.

Slade shook his head. For a while he’d wondered if Spencer was a Little. But he definitely had another side to him.

He could be cheerful and excitable. But he could also be dark and intense. And his moods switched on a dime. Plus, he had no care how others perceived him .

At boarding school, Slade, Rock, and Quaid had protected Spencer from assholes who’d bullied him for the way he dressed and acted.

He was a wildcard.

He loved taking care of others. Acts of service and pleasure were his thing. But threaten him or someone he loved and he could easily switch into someone far more dangerous.

Spencer should be whoever the fuck he wanted to be without anyone trying to tear him down.

He walked out carrying a Christmas onesie with images of reindeer on it. Slade hadn’t seen that one yet. Spencer had bought their girl lots new clothes.

Which they all thoroughly approved of. She should be pampered and taken care of.

Spencer removed her clothes while Slade drew the curtains. When Rock returned with the bottle, Slade picked her up and sat in the rocking chair with her on his lap, taking the bottle from Rock.

She eyed it so suspiciously that he nearly laughed.

“It’s not a grenade, Little one,” he told her. “If you don’t like it, you don’t have to use it.”

Rock tucked a blanket around her and then the two men left, leaving them alone.

“Close your eyes,” he commanded as he started to rock them back and forth. “Just relax. It’s just the two of us. Think about something nice. How about Santa coming? We haven’t gotten an advent calendar yet. Do you want one?”

“Yes, please,” she said. “The only ones I had were the ones you bought me after I moved in with you.”

God, Sylvia needed to pay for the way she’d treated her.

“I’ll get Spencer onto it. He’s the self-proclaimed Christmas king.”

She giggled and started to relax in his arms, yawning.

He pressed the nipple to her lips. She frowned but parted them and he slipped it inside her mouth .

Slade waited to see what her verdict was. She might hate it and that was fine.

But she relaxed even further with a tired sigh, drinking slowly.

He finally allowed himself to smile.

This was exactly the way he’d wanted his life to work out. With all the people he cared about under one roof.

Nearly.

Finally, she turned her head away from the bottle, snuggling into him with a soft snore.

Didn’t need a nap, huh?

Putting the bottle to one side, he carried her to the bed and tucked her in.

Now, to try and figure out why she said she was crap at seduction.

Which one of them had she tried to seduce?

They all sat in his office staring at each other in confusion.

“She hasn’t tried to seduce me,” Spencer said. “Are you sure she said that and not something else?”

“That’s what she said. Maybe I did mishear her. It doesn’t make much sense.”

“Talk to her,” Rock said.

Slade nodded. He would. He didn’t want her thinking that she was crap at anything.

She was perfect.

“Have either of you heard from Quaid recently?” he asked.

Spencer scowled. “No. And that bastard really needs to pull his head out of his ass. Because he is hurting our girl. Whenever someone says something about him, she gets this sad look in her eyes. Like she is missing a part of herself.”

Slade nodded, staring down at the camera so he could watch their girl sleep .

They’d had cameras installed through the house, but this one was only aimed on her.

Their whole world.

“I want her to have everything. Including Quaid. So once he’s back, we’ll make sure that happens.”
