Chapter 75 Scythe

Scythe

Lyle and I leave warehouse two, exchanging a glance.

There is nothing at all in there. The place is empty—a concrete box with no windows and only one door.

Or that’s what I would believe if not for my shark-sight.

I had stopped at the door, refusing to step foot or let Lyle cross the threshold into that place.

“There’s nothing in here,” Lyle had said.

“And yet I see death in it.”

My lion brother looked at me with concern as I stared at the space with an impression of a whirlpool, faint to my eyes, but it was more the aura of the place. Death had come here. And something worse than death. It made my shark scream. It fascinated my dark heart.

Lyle had to drag me away from it, but I am glad he did.

Soaking up any more of the dark power would send me to a place better left untouched.

But it meant that as we came out of the warehouse, we were distracted enough to bump into Xander and Savage.

The latter being hoisted up by his dragon brother so his feet dangled above the ground.

“Oi!” Savage said to us. “Run, you nutters!”

We don’t ask why as Xander sprints on ahead of us, into the alleyway created between the first two warehouses.

I can no longer hear the basilisks fighting, and I sprint across the concrete right behind him, ready to rescue my regina.

But as we round the final corner, it turns out we don’t need to rescue her.

She and Ghoul are in a ball of shadow, and as we come up to it, it fades away to reveal Aurelia sitting on Ghouls’ cock, staring at the spot the two of them are joined.

She turns to see us, her face brightening.

“We need to go!” she says, pointing to the gate where multiple cars are speeding through. We knew we only had so long before the cavalry arrived.

“Then let’s go!” Savage says, running over to her and grabbing her from under the arms as if to lift her off.

“No!” she and Ghoul shout. Savage’s mouth drops open in dismay as he removes his hands.

“Serpent lock,” Aurelia says, her lips pressing together as if she’s embarrassed. She plants a foot and shows us, tugging herself upwards. The base of Ghoul’s cock moves with her. “It’s magical. No way to undo it.”

Xander’s head drops back in dismay. “Really, Aurelia?”

“Don’t start on me, Xander,” she snaps. “It might take three days.”

Savage yelps like he’s hurt, clutching his face. “Nooooo!”

“We need to go, now,” Lyle grits out. “We have to take both of them.”

“No.” Ghoul shows us his fangs. “I’ll take her for now.”

Aurelia sighs. “Alright.”

Ghouls’ fangs glint in the moonlight. “I’ll make sure she comes, boys, don’t worry.”

Black shadows scoop them up like gathering clouds, and then they’re gone as if they were never here at all. I clench my teeth together in dismay. He still has his orders to kill her. My regina knows how to look after herself, but that doesn’t abate my fury.

“Problem!” Savage says, pointing to the incoming trucks. Titus Clawson and a team of felines are currently zipping towards us on the back of trucks.

“Xander, shift!” I command.

Suddenly, a humming breaks through the air, and the protective dome reappears, shining bright blue above us. A mad cackle sounds as Titus, standing on the open back of the Jeep with a gun in hand, points a fat finger our way. “You’re not going anywhere, fuckers!”
