WESTON
I have to stifle a groan when Audrey opens the bedroom door. She looks so fucking adorable in her pink pajamas, her dark hair piled into a messy bun. I’ve been up most of the night, tossing and turning, thinking about that moment on the bed when we nearly kissed. It’s been driving me crazy. Part of me wishes I’d gone for it, raccoon be damned. But another, more logical part of me knows this beautiful girl is going to leave at any moment. Kissing her would make everything more complicated than it already is.
“Good morning,” she says sweetly.
“Morning.”
“Breakfast smells good.”
I usher her into the living room, where our bacon and eggs are plated up alongside a stack of syrupy pancakes, pastries, fruit, and a jug of orange juice.
“Wow.” Audrey’s eyes brighten. “Now that’s a breakfast.”
“Wanted to treat you after what you told me last night,” I say, feeling my jaw tighten. It wasn’t just the almost-kiss that kept me up. When Audrey told me her apartment had been broken into, it filled me with a rage that burned like acid. I hate knowing that she’s been made to feel unsafe in her own home. It makes me sick to think what could have happened if she’d been there—she could have been hurt. The thought of somebody ransacking her home, running their hands over her possessions…
Fuck, I wish I’d been there.
All I want is for Audrey to be safe. I want to keep her close to me so I can protect her. But she’s about to walk out of my life for good, and there’s nothing I can do to stop it. I can’t protect her if she’s two hundred miles away in Denver.
“So, I have a question,” Audrey says, sitting down across from me.
“Go ahead.”
“Would it be okay for me to stay here one more night?” Her cheeks look a little pink, eyes fixed on her plate. “It’s just that Lila has some family thing she can’t get out of. She forgot to tell me about it before. But if it’s inconvenient for you, I can still go?—”
“Of course you can stay.” Happiness floods through me. I can’t believe my luck. I want to grin from ear to ear, but I try to arrange my features into something more natural.
Audrey beams at me. “Awesome. Thanks, Weston. I promise I’ll be out of your hair tomorrow morning.”
“You can stay as long as you want.”
“I really appreciate it.” Her smile drops slightly. “But after today, I really do need to get going.”
One more day.
It’s not much, but hell, it’s better than nothing.
“How are your knees this morning?” I ask her. “Maybe we could go for a walk after breakfast if you’re feeling up to it.”
Audrey nods, finishing a bite of pancake before she answers. “My knees are fine. It’s just my wrist now, but even that hurts less this morning. A walk sounds nice.”
“Let me get you a fresh ice pack.” I start to get up.
“No, it’s okay.” Audrey touches my arm, encouraging me to sit back down. “I took some Tylenol when I woke up. I’m good.”
“If you’re sure.”
She smiles at me, a bead of syrup glistening on her lip. “I’m sure. But thanks for looking after me, Weston. It means a lot.”
She licks the syrup away with a dart of her pink tongue, and I have to fight down the tightening in my boxers.
Goddammit, she has no idea how sexy she is.
After breakfast, we each take a shower—not together, unfortunately—and get dressed, before Audrey follows me out the front door. It’s a brisk morning, but the sunshine warms us through the trees as we walk into the woods toward the sound of running water.
“Where are we headed?” Audrey asks, taking my arm as I help her over a narrow creek.
“To my favorite waterfall. It’s just a couple of minutes away.”
She makes an appreciative sound. “How cool! I can’t imagine living so close to a waterfall.”
She stays close to me as we walk, her side brushing against mine. Her pajamas have been replaced with jeans and a woolen coat that hugs her thick curves. It’s enough to melt my brain, and for a few seconds, I can’t make myself speak.
“It’s…uh…yeah. My brother and I used to play there when we were kids.”
Audrey bites her lip, like she’s thinking. “It’s beautiful out here, don’t get me wrong, but doesn’t it get a little isolated? Lonely?”
“I like the quiet,” I say with a shrug. “And Dane lives nearby, so we see each other pretty often.”
“Yeah. I guess I’m just used to the hustle and bustle, you know?”
“Well, Miss Denver, my cabin isn’t as remote as it looks,” I tell her, the sound of water getting louder. “You can be down in Cherry Hollow in about fifteen minutes.”
Audrey smiles teasingly. “Is there a Starbucks there?”
“No, but there’s a Mountain Brew. Way better than Starbucks, trust me.”
The trees finally fall away, revealing a gush of crystal-clear water that tumbles over a cliff high above us and into a circular pool. Sunlight catches the cascade, and misty rainbows appear all around, the colors twinkling and vibrant.
“Wow.” Audrey lets out a whoosh of breath. “This is just…wow.”
Her pouty lips fall open as she takes it in. This place is amazing, sure. But I only have eyes for Audrey. The waterfall has nothing on the girl standing beside me, with her heart-shaped face and sapphire eyes. She senses me looking. Her gaze slides up to meet mine.
“It’s beautiful,” she says. “Really beautiful.”
Not as beautiful as you, Audrey.
Nothing is as beautiful as you.
I should say it, but my mouth is dry as I look at her, my heart pounding against my rib cage. I should have kissed her last night. Fuck the consequences. If I don’t kiss this perfect girl, I know I’ll regret it for the rest of my life, no matter what happens.
“Weston…” She says my name so softly that I barely hear it over the water. She knows what I’m thinking. I can see it in her eyes. “You know I have to leave soon.”
“I know.”
“So we shouldn’t?—”
“I know.”
We look at each other for a beat longer. I don’t know who moves first. Maybe we move at the same time. My hand cups her cheek, and with a groan, I crush my lips to hers. Adrenaline pulses through my veins as our mouths meld, teeth clashing in desperation.
Fuck, yes.
She tastes so damn sweet, like pancakes and syrup. I slide my tongue between her lips, relishing the way she moans as her soft body melts against me in surrender. I push her backward against a thick tree trunk, cushioning her head with my palm. My skin is on fire. Every nerve is pulsing with need, and my cock strains against my jeans as I claim Audrey’s pretty mouth, all my frustration bubbling to the surface, overflowing.
“I’ve wanted to do that since the minute I saw you,” I murmur, pulling away to brush kisses up her neck.
“Me too.” She shivers against my lips, her voice breathless. “So much.”
I need more. I want all of her. Every inch of her gorgeous body.
My hand slips beneath the waistband of her jeans, two fingers brushing against her wet panties. I push the sodden fabric aside and cup her soft mound, making her gasp as my thumb touches her clit.
“Fuck, Audrey…I need to taste you.”
I sink to my knees and yank her jeans down, but before I can grab her panties, she reaches out her hand to stop me.
“What if somebody sees?” she asks, eyes wide.
“This waterfall is on my land. Private property. Nobody’s going to see a thing, sugar, except for me.”
Before she can respond, I tug down her panties, revealing her slick pink folds. Arousal seeps down her thighs, and the sweet, musky scent turns me feral. Hungry. I push her thighs apart and run my tongue across her slit, tasting her cream.
“Oh!”
The waterfall muffles her cry, but I feel her fingers tangle in my hair, pulling tight as I lick her pussy. She tastes so fucking good. I can’t get enough. Her juices soak my beard, her legs quivering around me as I worship her core, licking, tasting. I latch onto her clit, sucking on the swollen nub until she’s sobs for me, mewling with pleasure.
“Weston!”
Hearing her moan my name spurs me on, and I push two fingers against her dripping entrance, sliding them inside. Her warmth is tight as a vise around me, and I pump my fingers in and out, relishing the way her walls flutter around them. She’s getting close. I can feel her tightening, her muscles clenching in anticipation.
When she cries my name again, I hold her legs tight, groaning as she grinds her little pussy against my mouth. She draws out every spasm of pleasure, and when she’s spent, I slip my fingers out of her, gorging myself on her cream until my cock is ready to explode.
I need to be inside her.
I need to make her mine.
Audrey watches me, cheeks flushed as I straighten up once more.
“That was amazing,” she whispers, her body still shuddering.
“We’re just getting started, sugar.”
I scoop her into my arms, carrying her bridal-style through the woods, just like when I found her at the bottom of the slope. But things have changed since then. Audrey has completely taken over my brain, and I want her more than I’ve ever wanted anything. I can’t hold back any longer. I don’t want to hold back. This curvy angel is mine, and I’m taking her straight to my bed to prove it.
