Chapter 7 Sunni
“Well, well, well. Look who the wind blew in,” Venus sang as our eyes locked.
“Don’t start your shit, Vee,” I warned as I gave them all warm hugs. Instantly, my heart felt lighter with each embrace. I claimed the seat next to Georgia with Xandria across from me.
It was the first time in a long time I’d gotten to spend time with my friends. The weather was nice, the drinks were strong, and I was overdue for a girls’ day since people had ruined the last couple of attempts at quality time with my friends.
For the last couple of weeks, I’d been giving Noble the silent treatment. I didn’t want anyone else to die, but he didn’t care about my wants. I wasn’t supportive of the methods he used to protect me, so for the last week, I had a new bodyguard assigned to me.
Foe trained under Noble with a couple of other men, so I trusted him to protect me.
He was older than me—I think he said he was thirty-six or thirty-seven—and had a wife and kid on the way.
He assured me he would make sure we both made it to see our families at the end of every day, and so far, he’d kept his promise.
Foe was like a fly on the wall. He was silent and blended into the background.
I hardly noticed him or exchanged words with him.
It was how things should have been with Noble.
I should have kept my distance like he told me to in the beginning.
Maybe I wouldn’t be heartbroken and terrified at the same damn time.
Noble made it clear he didn’t want to date me until he got them to remove the hit on me.
However, the danger surrounding the situation was beyond anything I’d ever experienced.
I was terrified. I was anxious. I wanted him to be safe, but I couldn’t be na?ve about the severity of what Noble was doing.
For you. Everything he’s doing is for you.
“Who is this fine specimen of a man?” Venus asked as her eyes perused Foe’s frame.
“What happened to the other guy?” Dria inquired.
I let out a huff. “Can I have a drink before y’all start drilling me with questions?”
“No. You have been MIA for weeks. You better put on your big girl drawls and tell us what’s been going on.” Georgia’s words and her sweet smile sent me mixed signals, but I didn’t let it faze me.
I grabbed the glass from the table and held it under the fountain of the mimosa tower. I swallowed two full cups before I finally relaxed into my seat.
“That’s Foe. He’s Noble’s replacement because me and Noble aren’t seeing eye to eye right now,” I explained as plainly as possible.
Venus raised a curious brow. “You fucked that man, huh?”
Dria giggled. “You could see it in her walk. He cleared those pipes good.”
I stuck up my middle fingers and stared at them with a bored expression. “Are y’all done?”
Georgia shook her head. “You don’t have to be defensive, honey. If you let that man put you through the mattress, it’s okay!”
“I did. Many, many times.”
All three of them squealed in unison. The knowing smiles and excited eyes forewarned me of the interrogation coming my way. Although I didn’t want to talk about my and Noble’s situation, I didn’t want to be a Debbie Downer.
“I told y’all that bodyguard dick hypnotized her. Ain’t nothing wrong with that.” Vee snickered.
“Wait, so if you were in orgasm heaven, what happened? Why did you replace him?” Dria quizzed.
“Are you fucking the new bodyguard too?” Vee added.
“What kind of ho do y’all think I am?” I asked before continuing.
“I may have caught feelings for Noble. We may have gone on dates and had amazing sex. However, life is complicated and things happen. We had a disagreement and took some space from each other. I’m not fucking Foe.
Vee, you would date a man ten years older than you? ”
Venus chuckled. “Hell yeah, I would. Girl, it’s only weird when the old men and women go after teenagers. I’m a grown and mature twenty-seven. I know what I want, and I’m very confident in my ability to cut things off at the first sign of weird shit.”
“Shooters shoot, girl.” I shook my head and refilled my glass.
Finally, the server returned to the table and got my order. I opted for salmon over a bed of rice with a side of asparagus. I also ordered a serving of oysters. We talked until my meal came back. I listened to them fill me in on all the things I’d missed while keeping a low profile.
“Thank y’all for still riding with me,” I commented as we walked outside.
The evening air hit my face with a gentle, cool breeze. The temperature had dropped slightly, and the unbearable heat became bearable. I’d walked them over to Georgia’s car, since she was their designated driver.
“Girl, of course.” Xandria pulled me into a tight hug before she and Venus got into the car.
Georgia lingered behind and eyed me with those soft, knowing eyes. “Be honest with me.”
“Don’t do this right now, Gia,” I begged.
“Nope. I don’t know the next time we’ll see you. I need to make sure you hear and see me.”
“Fine. What do you want from me?”
“Don’t be stubborn. I can hear it in your voice and see it in your body language that you miss that man. Call him up and make sure y’all are good. Don’t let your fears rob you of your happily ever after.” Georgia bumped her hip with mine and offered a gentle smile before she got in her car.
Foe stood a few feet away with the backseat passenger door open for me.
I closed the distance and hopped inside.
I immediately pulled out my phone and opened the thread with Noble.
There were dozens of unread messages I had ignored over the last couple of weeks.
It warmed my heart to see him still check in with me, despite me giving him the silent treatment.
I scrolled through the messages, smiling at different ones.
The most recent message made me shift in my seat, though.
Good morning, Sunni. I see you’re still ignoring me. I’m not gon lie. I’ve let you set the pace for the last couple of weeks because I didn’t want to lose focus of my main goal, but you’ve got me fucked up now. Have your fun with your lil friends because I’ll be waiting for you when you get home.
My thumbs hovered over the keyboard as I read and reread his message several times.
Instead of a reply, I hearted the message and put my phone in my purse.
I missed him too much. I didn’t know what he had been up to or what his plans for me were, but I was ready to touch him, feel him, kiss him again.
When Foe pulled up to my house, Noble was the first thing my eyes locked onto. He sat on the porch, looking as good as ever. His hair was freshly cut, his skin radiant under the sunlight, and his body as sexy as I remembered.
I waited for Foe to open my door before I tossed my purse over my shoulder and stepped out. I looked good in my romper and sandals with my natural curls bouncing with each step I took. It felt like we were miles away. I wanted to run to him but remained calm.
“Hey,” I greeted.
His eyes perused my body. It was like he was looking for something. He didn’t greet me back, though. Instead, he stood and looked past me to Foe.
“Give us a couple of hours of privacy.” The deep bravado of his voice sent a chill down my spine. I missed his voice. I missed his lips. I missed his tongue. I looked away from him to refocus my thoughts.
Foe nodded without a word. He got back into the SUV and pulled out of the driveway. I gulped. Alone with Noble could go one of two ways: We could get into another argument or make up for the weeks without physical touch. I prayed for the latter.
“Go inside,” Noble instructed.
I mugged him. “Don’t talk to me like you’re my daddy. You’re not my dad, fuckin’ noodle head.”
He chuckled. “Nah, I’m not your dad. You didn’t cut contact with him.”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “Why are you here, Noble? I had a great day with my girls, and you’re killing my happiness.”
“You want me to leave?” he asked with a raised brow.
“I want you to tell me why you finally came around after two fucking weeks.” I tossed my hands into the air and let them fall dramatically at my side.
“If you’d stop pushing me away, maybe we could get to that.” He let out a deep breath.
“Fine.” I pushed past him to the door, then unlocked it and walked inside.
He was a few steps behind me. He twisted the lock before he led me to the couch. We sat down, and my heart thumped against my chest. I did not know where this conversation would lead us. My emotions were all over the place.
“We’ve been at odds for a couple of weeks now. I know where you stand with my plans, so I didn’t want to come around knowing I was doing something you didn’t approve of.”
“Did you change your mind?” I asked.
“No. I stood on business and got shit done. Me and the team I’ve been working with tracked down everybody. I’ve followed the path to the leaders. I also have some connects in the Feds who are going to handle the bitch ass nigga who started all the shit.”
The more he talked about the plans, the more my heart pounded against my chest. Somewhere through his breakdown of the events, my ears rang, and I couldn’t focus anymore.
“Noble,” I interrupted.
He looked at me with kind eyes. “Yes, my love?”
“I don’t know what you thought this explanation was going to do, but all it has done is increase my anxiety and break my heart. I don’t want you to get hurt. I don’t want anyone else to die.”
He held my hand and caressed my knuckles with his thumb. “I get it, baby. I really do. However, it’s them or you, and I’m not letting anyone hurt you. I’m one of one, and no one but God has the power to end my life. These lame ass niggas looking to hurt a woman are a waste of life.”
Something about the way he spoke sent fire through my core. The determination and coolness in his delivery turned me on more than I ever thought it would. Maybe it was the weeks I’d gone without him that influenced my response.
“Make love to me, Noble.”
“So you’re done giving me the silent treatment?” The smirk on his face made me roll my eyes.
“We’ll see.”
He licked his lips and pulled me onto his lap. My legs instinctively spread, and my manicured nails scratched against the back of his neck. This was where I belonged.
We exchanged no other words as I leaned in. When our lips met, peace consumed me.
Noble was my safe place.
Noble was my protector.
Noble was the love of my life.
Nothing and no one mattered other than the man with his hands on my body.
“Don’t wear this shit ever again,” Noble complained. He wanted immediate access to my pussy, and the romper did not cooperate.
A giggle filled the air as I stood and stripped for my man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
His eyes were on me as I stood in the middle of the living room, fully naked.
My hands roamed my breasts and stomach seductively as I sauntered over to Noble.
He licked his lips. With a few swift motions, he’d tugged down his pants and exposed his throbbing dick. The sight of it made my mouth water.
Pleasing Noble was the only thing on my mind. My knees pressed into the rug as I pulled his length into my mouth. He loved when I double-hand stroked his dick and sucked the tip.
“Fuck.” His moans of pleasure were music to my ears. Each vocal praise made me show out a little more.
“Mmm.” I could feel the cum hit my throat with force. I sucked until every drop was on a path to my stomach.
Then Noble stretched and ate my pussy until I squirted. Squirting was always such a surprise because, most of the time, I was a creamer. By the time I finally sat on his dick, my juices were sliding down my legs. The couch would need a thorough deep clean after this.
“I missed you so much, Noble.” I held his shoulders as I rocked my hips forward and backward on his dick.
“I missed you too.” He held my waist and slowed down my movements. He pulled one of my titties into his mouth and sucked on the nipple hungrily. The sensation made me toss my head back.
“I love you,” I cried out.
“I love you too. So . . . fuckin’ . . . much.” Noble held my waist and took control. He made love to me with passion drenched in each stroke. I couldn’t do anything but hold on for dear life.
“I’m yours forever, baby.” I panted out each word as my pleasure built.
“You’re so fuckin’ wet, baby. I’m finna cum.”
“Nut in me.”
He snaked his right hand around my neck and forced me to look into his eyes. “Look at me.”
With low lids, I locked our gaze. “Mmm.”
“Will you have my baby?”
I nodded. The pleasure felt too good. My pussy was begging for a release.
“Say it. Tell me you will have my baby.”
“I will have all your babies.”
“Good. Start thinking about names.” He pulled me into a breathless kiss as we reached our orgasm together. The release made me see stars as we began the descent from the peak.
“That was . . .” I trailed off as I pressed my forehead against Noble’s.
“Yeah.”
He removed me from his dick and set me next to him on the couch. I was sweaty and sticky and in dire need of a hot shower.
“Can we shower together?” I asked as I stood.
“I have to go soon, but I’ve got time for a shower.”
I frowned. “Not you used me and finna leave.”
He chuckled. “It’s not like that at all. I want to handle this shit so I can get back to you as soon as I can.”
“Fine.” I poked out my bottom lip into a pout.
Noble bit my lip, which made me laugh softly. His smile was contagious. “When I get back, we gon’ do this shit right. You hear me?”
I nodded.
“I’m serious about those baby names too. We gon’ have a starting lineup of babies made with love.”
“Sounds good.”
I didn’t want to ruin our last few moments together, so I kept a smile plastered on my face. My mind raced with worries, but I let go and prayed about it.
Despite all our sins, I begged God to keep Noble safe.
