3. Ghost
GHOST
Dammit. I could have kicked myself for being so blunt with Harper.
She didn’t know us like we knew her. We’ve spent three years plotting the perfect moment to meet her, and it all got shot to hell with what was going on with Dax.
Why did her best friend have to be one of the biggest crime boss bitches on the West Coast?
Although I couldn’t be that upset, it was only because of Dax that we found Harper in the first place.
Others have told us it wasn’t normal for us to have an obsession like this over a woman we hadn’t actually spent any time with, but they haven’t met their soulmate yet.
The moment we saw her at the party in a tight white dress that hugged her body like it was her own skin, we were goners.
It had beads cascading down from the top of the dress, shifting as she moved, making it sexy as fuck.
We’d arrived late to the party, wanting to see what Dax was like with a few drinks in her, but we forgot all about what we were supposed to be doing.
We’d known about Harper and seen a picture of her, though that was nothing compared to seeing her in person.
The guy she’d been dancing with was wasted and pawing all over her.
I couldn’t stand to watch it, so I stepped in before I killed someone.
This was absolutely against everything we were supposed to do, but I didn’t care.
I couldn’t stand the sight of this man touching what I knew would one day be mine.
“Are you an angel? God, with a body like that, you’re sexy enough to be one,” Harper purred as she trailed a hand down my chest.
I grabbed her hand and let myself have this moment before I pulled her off the dance floor and got her a cab home.
Little did she know, we followed her to make sure the driver got her home without incident, and that was the beginning of the end. None of us looked at another woman, let alone dared to touch one in case our moment to reveal ourselves to Harper showed up.
It had been three years of my hand and me, but thanks to tapping into her home security feed that Weston installed, I had plenty of material to use for inspiration.
Harper had no idea the amount of self-control it took for us the past few years not to kill every man she slept with.
We’d decided that until she was introduced to us, she could live her life however she wanted.
That rule, of course, changed the second we entered her life.
“She coming in?” Jaxson asked, leaning on the counter, peeling a banana.
I grumbled and ran a hand through my hair, taking a seat at the island.
“I might have just pissed her off. She was getting all worked up about the fact we stole her away from her life with no thought at all. That woman has no idea how much thought we’ve put into this, so she didn’t feel like she was missing out. ”
Magnus flipped the crepe in the frypan before glaring at me. “Couldn’t you have waited until after she had her coffee before getting into the heavy shit?”
“Well, she took a sip, but I couldn’t let her off that easily.
With all the shit going down with Dax, we know how dangerous this is going to get.
Two Tricks is finding out how deep the rabbit hole really goes with all this, and it’s much safer to have Harper with us,” I justified, grabbing my mug and taking a gulp.
It was the middle of the afternoon, but with the time change, it was still the middle of the night back in LA.
Fifteen hours was a big jump forward, and my body wasn’t keeping up as easily as I’d like.
Usually, when we traveled, we flew overnight so we could sleep and wake up rested to deal with the day.
Unfortunately, having Harper knocked out didn’t leave us much wiggle room to wait.
“I’m not saying you shouldn’t have said what you did, but it could have happened after breakfast.” Magnus pouted, glancing out where Harper was still on the patio staring at her coffee. “Do we send Jaxson out to get her or leave her be?”
Just as Magnus asked, Harper stepped back into the house and made her way into the kitchen, where she set her mug down before crossing her arms.
Aw fuck, I’d done it now. She was going to yell or scream at us to let her go and hate us forever. I’d made our job so much harder because there was no way we’d let that stand.
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m here with you three because Wes called and asked you to look after me,” she demanded.
The three of us nodded our heads yes. “Dax seems to consider you, in an odd way, friends. She also ordered you guys to look after me at the restaurant. I’ve known Dax for a long time and how overprotective she is about me, although I didn’t know to what extent that protection went.
” She mused as if she remembered some particular moment.
Shaking her head, she sighed. “Anyway, getting off track here. Two people who I consider my family, who have always had my back, seem to think you guys will be able to keep me safe. So in the spirit of what you said, Ghost, I’m going to take this entire thing as a break from reality.
I’m going to take the leap and let you all show me what I’ve been missing since you think I play it too safe,” she said, looking pointedly at me.
Magnus tossed the crepe he’d been cooking on a plate and turned off the stove before facing Harper.
Crossing his arms, he met her stance head-on, but Magnus was still taller than her five-eight height to look down at her.
“What does that mean to you…” He tossed up a hand to stop her from speaking.
“No, if we are going to agree to this, I need you to spell it out for us in every last detail. In your mind, what does ‘vacation’ Harper find acceptable from us?”
This was why Maggy was the leader. He knew just how to go about things to make sure we didn’t end up fucking shit up.
I would have taken what she’d said at face value and ran with it, taking her along for the ride.
The thing is that even when all this was over and it was time for Harper to return to ‘real’ Harper, we weren’t going anywhere.
“Uh…” Harper started, then glanced at all of us before dropping her arms and picking at the seam of her robe.
“Okay, well, I’ll be honest, I don’t know the answer to that.
All I’ve ever wanted was to be a fashion designer, so I slaved away at making that dream happen.
I’ve been to more parties than I can count and fashion shows in amazing places, but I can’t say I’ve really seen or done much outside of fashion.
Would it be too crazy for me to say I want to see the world like you guys do?
Wait, no,” she amended, throwing out her hands as if to stop us.
“On second thought, I need to reword that. I don’t want to kill anyone, but you three seem to live life on your own terms, not really caring what other people think.
I want that kind of vacation. One that pushes me to try new things. ”
Magnus nodded at her answer and relaxed somewhat to lean on the counter. “That’s fair. Let me ask you some yes or no questions then to flush out the rules.”
“Sure, that sounds good,” she answered, pulling up a seat and grabbing her coffee once more while taking a sip.
“Sex,” Magnus stated. Right out the gate, he was going for the one thing we all wanted to know.
“The three of us are interested in you, and from what I gather, you’re interested in us.
None of us mind sharing, and there is no need to compete or fight over who gets to be with you if we all have the same rules. ”
Harper spewed her coffee at Magnus’s suggestion and set it down, mopping up the mess from the towel Jaxson tossed her. “All of you?”
“Yes, it will be all of us or none of us. Whatever you decide now is how it’s going to be. I can’t risk you saying no, then trying to talk one of us into sneaking around behind the others’ backs. It’s bad for business and makes us vulnerable if we can’t trust each other.”
She took a moment to look at each of us, then back down at her hands, where she picked at her thumbnail.
The kitchen was silent as we let her think this over.
I willed her to say yes and prayed to the gods I don’t believe in that she would take the leap and let us show her what giving in to her desires could look like.
“You’re sure it won’t cause any drama? Because that is the last thing I need to deal with right now,” Harper countered, narrowing her eyes at Magnus.
In the true asshole fashion of my brother, a smile grew on his face as he stepped forward to lean on the other side of the counter.
He rested his arms on the surface as he closed the space between them, pausing just before his lips would meet hers.
“I can promise you on anything you’d like me to that there will absolutely be no drama from us if you say yes. ”
We could all hear her gulp before giving her answer, “Yes.”
That was all Magnus needed to close the distance between them, latching onto her lower lip, drawing her forward slightly so he could get a better angle. Using no hands at all, he devoured Harper’s mouth, and she met him tit for tat, and it was making me harder than I’d ever been before in my life.
I’d always been one to experience compersion when it came to my brothers.
No, it wasn’t simple voyeurism, although that was a kink I happily owned.
This was deeper than that—the pure joy and peacefulness of seeing my brothers in love with someone I also cared about.
This is why the idea of us being jealous of each other was not even a consideration.
All three of us felt this way. It’s why we knew one day we’d always share a partner with each other.
