Chapter 5

Baddy hadn't planned to buy the girl, but seeing the fucker drag her off the motorcycle, and her cowering behind him, he wasn't going to allow the Cusclan member to hit her again.

With one shared look with Kodiak, he received permission to approach the Cusclan president to ask if he could buy the woman.

It only took the fucker a second to make up his mind after he offered five thousand for her. He read the badge, remembering the name. Sonny.

He only had five hundred dollars on him. His back warmed as more Royalla members approached him, handing over the money they had on them. He counted out five grand and handed it over, knowing he'd pay each one of them back once he returned to the clubhouse.

Sonny shoved the girl forward, and she stumbled straight into his arms.

She hit his chest hard, small hands bracing against his stomach. That was when he got his first good look at her up close and had to hide his surprise.

She wasn't a kid. Not even fucking close.

Petite, yeah. She was five feet two inches, at best. But underneath the oversized leather jacket, she had soft curves. Breasts pressed against his stomach for a split second before she jerked back as if he'd burned her. She lifted her chin and glared, unable to hide the fear trembling through her.

He'd bought Sonny's woman.

Fucking-hell.

The other club mounted up, engines roaring to life. The deal was done. Hands were shaken, and money was exchanged. The moment the last bike rolled out of the lot, Kodiak turned on him.

"What the hell was that?" Kodiak barely glanced at the woman.

Baddy kept a hand on the woman's arm, not tight, just enough to keep her from bolting. "Sonny's got a heavy hand," he said. "I wasn't leaving her with him."

Kodiak's jaw flexed. He looked at the girl, then at Baddy. "We'll talk about this once we get back to Vancouver."

"Understood."

Kodiak walked off to mount his bike, leaving Baddy alone with the girl who refused to look at him.

He cleared his throat. "What's your name?"

Nothing.

Not a blink. Not a twitch. Just a stubborn silence that told him she'd rather walk through fire than answer him.

"Yeah, well..." He sighed. "I didn't plan on buying a woman today either."

Her glare sharpened.

He ignored her and turned to his bike. If she wasn't going to talk, fine. But he still had to get her back to the clubhouse without her doing something stupid, like jumping off at sixty miles an hour.

He unzipped his duffel, pulled out three tie straps, and tossed the bag to Duke without letting go of her. "Take that back for me."

Duke caught it with a grunt and strapped it to his own bike.

Baddy swung a leg over his motorcycle and looked at the girl. "Get on."

She didn't move.

He tried again, slower. "Get on the bike."

Still nothing. Her jaw tightened, eyes burning with defiance.

He tugged her closer. She planted her feet.

He exhaled through his nose and motioned to Hunter.

Hunter, deaf as stone, didn't need any instructions as he assessed the situation. He walked over, scooped the girl up like she weighed nothing, and plopped her onto the back seat.

She grabbed Baddy's sides on instinct to keep from falling. The moment she did, he grabbed her wrists and held them together in front of him.

"Hold still." He looped the tie straps around her wrists and cinched them tight enough she couldn't escape. He couldn't have her throwing herself off the bike the second he slowed down.

When he finished, he patted her hands. "There. Now you won't die doing something stupid."

She sucked in a sharp breath. "I'm going to kill you the second my hands are free."

"I'm sure you'll try." Baddy smiled, slow and amused, as he kicked the bike to life. "Sit tight, sweetheart."

He pulled out of the lot, her body pressed against him, her breath hot with fury on the back of his neck.

She had a wild spirit. He liked that.

She wasn't his first bad idea but would hopefully be his last. He had no plans to keep her. One day, she'll look back and thank him for getting her to a safe place.
